Sat Jun 23 2012 | 18:52 | Cook will start on Sunday against the Braves |
Aaron Cook will start for ‪Boston Sunday against the Braves‬. |
After Boston announced that Clay Buchholz (illness) would miss the outing, speculation correctly turned to Cook as his replacement. Cook has been on the disabled list since May 6 with a lacerated knee. Although he was shelled in his only appearance with the Red Sox earlier this year, allowing seven runs (six earned) over 2 2/3 innings against the Orioles, Boston didn't have many alternative options. Cook isn't likely to draw many more starts for Boston, as the club is actively looking for rotation upgrades via trade, but can be used in deep AL-only formats as long as he is in the rotation. |

The Red Sox will activate Aaron Cook prior to Sunday's game. |
Pulled from his Saturday start at Pawtucket, it appears as though Cook will fill in for Clay Buchholz (illness) on Sunday against the Braves. The veteran righty, on the disabled list since May 6 with a lacerated knee, was bombed in his only appearance with the Red Sox this year, allowing seven runs -- six earned -- on eight hits and a walk over just 2 2/3 innings in a loss to the Orioles in May. The sinkerballer owns a 4.56 ERA in the big leagues and can be ignored outside of deep AL-only fantasy formats. |
