Fri Feb 24 201214:26No timetable for Brian Roberts' first game
Brian Roberts (concussion) said he feels "pretty good in general," but there's no timetable for when he'll first appear in a spring training game.
Roberts has been performing light baseball activities. "Every day that goes by, you're more encouraged," he said. "Trying to take steps forward but not too quickly." It's good that he's feeling well to this point, but he's obviously got a long ways to go. The 34-year-old was limited to 39 games last season due to concussion symptoms.

Brian Roberts (concussion) has been hitting off a tee and playing long toss in Orioles camp.
Roberts had to skip the Orioles' annual FanFest in January due to lingering post-concussion symptoms, but all indications are that he's now feeling better. The Orioles are said to be in "wait-and-see mode" on the veteran infielder as the 2012 season approaches. If he's finally healthy, he could again be a valuable fantasy commodity.

Tue Feb 14 201214:00O's in wait-and-see mode with Roberts
Orioles executive vice president Dan Duquette said Tuesday that the team is in "wait-and-see mode" regarding Brian Roberts.
In other words, nothing has changed. Roberts didn't attend the Orioles' annual FanFest last month due to lingering post-concussion symptoms and there's no telling what condition he'll be in once spring training rolls around. Those in mixed leagues should consider other options unless he makes significant progress.

"We have friends who tell me they can't believe how much better I look than I did even in September," Roberts said last week. "I can't tell you how wonderful it is to be feeling normal." Concussion specialist Michael Collins expects Roberts' health and conditioning to be normal by the start of spring training, but setbacks are certainly possible.

Sat Sep 3 201108:46Roberts doesn't expect to return this year
Brian Roberts (concussion) finally conceded Friday that it's unlikely he'll make it back this season.
Roberts, who has been out since mid-May, continues to work out and perform baseball-related activities at the team's spring training complex, but he still hasn't played in any games and won't do so until he's symptom-free. With the minor league season ending in a few days, he just doesn't have enough time. "I don't think we've ever sat down and necessarily ruled out anything," Roberts said. "It would probably take, at this point, everything to go really, really, really well for the next couple of weeks." Doctors have told Roberts, who has dealt with a concussion in consecutive seasons, that they don't consider his career to be in jeopardy, but with head injuries, you never know.

Tue Aug 16 201118:10Roberts (concussion) hasn't ruled out return
Brian Roberts (concussion) hasn't ruled out a return before the end of the season, but is more focused on avoiding a setback.
"I certainly haven't given up hope that I'll be able to play at some point this season, but that's not my choice," said Roberts, who suffered a concussion on a head-first slide into second base on May 16. "We are taking every precaution to do what we can to make sure this doesn't happen again. I think that's our first and foremost [goal]." While the veteran second baseman is rehabbing at the team's spring training facility in Sarasota, he is still not participating in physical activity that requires a lot of exertion. That could change if he hears positive news from concussion specialist Dr. Michael Collins on Wednesday. Still, we wouldn't count on seeing him again this season.

Sun Jul 31 201108:53Roberts won't be long rehab if he returns
Orioles manager Buck Showalter said Brian Roberts (concussion) will not need a long rehab assignment if he makes it back this season.

The manager added that he's still expected Roberts to return at some point. "I'm feeling real positive about it," Showalter said. "I hope he can string together some good days and the doctors release him. I'm looking at it as something that's going to happen. I'm not looking at it any other way."
