Hiroki Kuroda's status for Friday's start against the Orioles is up in the air due to a leg issue.
Kuroda flew back to New York to get checked out, and that's all that's known at the moment. The Yankees could provide an update on his status later Tuesday or Wednesday. Ivan Nova threw a bullpen session Tuesday and would start in Kuroda's place Friday if need be.

Hiroki Kuroda allowed three runs -- two earned -- in 6 2/3 innings of a no-decision against the Rangers on Tuesday.
The ball was flying out of Yankee Stadium on Tuesday as the teams combined for six home runs, two served up by Kuroda. Still, he held the Rangers to five hits and a walk in his 6 2/3 innings while striking out six. He'll look for a better fate Sunday when he faces the Orioles in Baltimore.

Wed Jun 19 201317:06Hiroku Kuroda picks up win over Dodgers
Facing his old team for the first time, Hiroki Kuroda outdueled Hyun-Jin Ryu with 6 2/3 innings of two-run ball as the Yankees beat the Dodgers 6-4 in the first game of a doubleheader.
The Yankees were up 3-0 when Ryu left after six before Kuroda gave up both of his runs in the seventh. Fortunately, the Yankees were able to build on from there, and the two-run home run that Preston Claiborne gave up to Hanley Ramirez in the eighth didn't cost Kuroda the win. It was his first since May 17. The Yankees had scored a total of seven runs in his previous five starts.

Tue May 28 201323:59Kuroda goes 7 shutout innings in no-decision
Hiroki Kuroda shut out the Mets for seven innings but took a no-decision in the Yankees' loss on Tuesday.
Kuroda did his part, holding the cross-town rivals to just four hits over seven innings. The right-hander also struck out seven batters, and he lowered his ERA and WHIP to 2.39 and 1.00, respectively, in the outing. Unfortunately he failed to pick up his seventh win due to a rare blown save by Mariano Rivera. He'll look for a better fate against another rival, the Red Sox, in his next turn on Sunday.

Yankees manager Joe Girardi said he would be "shocked" if Hiroki Kuroda (calf) was unable to make his next start.
Kuroda's calf tightened up on him an inning after he was hit with a comebacker Wednesday, forcing him to leave the game. But he'll be fine. The right-hander is scheduled to face the Mets early next week.

Hiroki Kuroda tossed seven scoreless innings as the Yankees beat the Astros 7-4 on Tuesday.
Kuroda was shaky early but settled down nicely to get through seven frames. The Astros aren't the toughest lineup he'll have to face this year, but it's still a good showing for the right-hander. Kuroda now owns a 2.25 ERA and 1.06 WHIP to go with his four wins. He's on schedule to start again Tuesday in Colorado and is a must-start right now in all standard formats.

Sat Apr 20 201318:02Kuroda gives up one run in no-decision
Hiroki Kuroda allowed just one run in seven-plus innings Saturday against the Blue Jays, but was handed a no-decision.
Kuroda gave up just three hits and one walk while striking out a season-high seven. The veteran right-hander had his scoreless streak end at 20 2/3 innings after David Robertson allowed an inherited runner to score in bottom of the eighth. Robertson then gave up two more runs to cost him a chance at the victory. Kuroda owns a 2.35 ERA and 19/6 K/BB ratio in 23 innings through four starts and has been rock-solid since joining the Yankees last season. He'll face the Blue Jays back in New York next Thursday.

Mon Apr 8 201320:06Kuroda allows three runs in win over Indians
Hiroki Kuroda gave up three runs in 5 1/3 innings Monday in a win over the Indians.
Kuroda allowed all three runs in a 34-pitch first inning, but he managed to hold the Indians off the board the rest of the way. All told, he gave up five hits and four walks while notching six strikeouts. We think he'll be more effective as his bruised finger continues to heal. He'll make his next start against the Orioles on Saturday.

Thu Apr 4 201322:24Kuroda (finger) not cleared for start yet
Hiroki Kuroda (finger) won't be cleared to make his next start until he tries to throw a bullpen session Friday.
An earlier report said that he had already been cleared, but evidently that's not the case, as he said he doesn't feel "normal" and there's a "little discomfort" in his bruised right middle finger. Ultimately, he'll probably be OK to take the ball on April 8, but if it turns out that he isn't, the Yankees could give Adam Warren a spot start or possibly call up Chien-Ming Wang or Vidal Nuno from the minors.
