Shawn Tolleson is scheduled to undergo surgery on his injured lower back on Thursday afternoon.
Tolleson was placed on the disabled list April 15 with a lower back strain and now needs surgery to repair the injury. He is expected to be sidelined for 3-5 months and could feasibly miss the rest of the season.

Tolleson nearly earned the final spot in the Dodgers bullpen out of spring training, and had already racked up 5 2/3 scoreless innings at Triple-A. No word on the corresponding roster move yet, but it's assumed that Zack Greinke will be placed on the disabled list.

Dodgers reliever Shawn Tolleson left Friday's Cactus League contest after being struck by a comebacker on the back of his right elbow.
Tolleson already had an injury scare last week when he felt a popping sensation in his left knee during an outing against the Padres, but was given the clearence to return to baseball activities. Provided this is only a minor injury scare, he's still fighting for one of the final spots in the Dodgers Opening Day bullpen.

Shwan Tolleson (knee) doesn't expect to miss any time.
Tolleson felt a popping sensation in his knee during a Cactus League appearance Tuesday against the Padres. But he was examined by a doctor Wednesday morning and given clearance to resume all baseball-related activities.
