After weeks of flirting with disaster, Kyle Drabek finally got rocked on Wednesday, allowing four runs on three hits and three walks in just 2/3 of an inning in Toronto's 13-9 loss to the Indians.

He notched one strikeout. Drabek has issued at least three walks in all but one of his 12 starts, and entered this evening with a 42/42 K/BB ratio and 1.61 WHIP, so it was only a matter of time before his 4.16 ERA experienced a big uptick. It now rests at 4.69. Drabek doesn't look likely to have any real value in mixed leagues any time soon.

"What it'll come down to now is his efficiency in games." The 23-year-old will compete with Jesse Litsch, Scott Richmond, Marc Rzepczynski and Jo-Jo Reyes for one of the final two spots in the rotation. Barring a really poor spring, we expect the top prospect to break camp with the big club.

He'll have to pitch well in spring training to earn a slot in the rotation, but he's a favorite to break camp with one of the final two spots. Drabek handled himself fairly well in three September starts and his upside is tremendous. Marc Rzepczynski, Jesse Litsch and Zach Stewart are the other main candidates for the back end of the rotation.

Drabek, 22, has posted a solid 3.27 ERA and 1.23 WHIP in 20 starts this season for Triple-A Las Vegas. But he has already reached 124 innings and he topped out at 158 last season. If the Jays want to see him in a big league uniform, they'll have to promote him within the next three weeks.
