Mon Sep 13 2021 | 10:41 | James Kaprielian Posts Another Short Start Versus Rangers |
Oakland Athletics starting pitcher James Kaprielian allowed four runs across just 3 2/3 innings to take the loss Sunday versus Texas. Kaprielian has now failed to complete the fifth inning in three straight starts and has completed the sixth inning just once in his last eight starts. The rookie was a solid fantasy contributor early in the season, but his second-half ERA is a ghastly 5.40 while his K/9 has dipped to under a strikeout-per-inning. He's got a good matchup with the Angels next time out, but at this point, Kaprielian shouldn't be trusted in fantasy lineups. |

Wed Sep 8 2021 | 11:54 | James Kaprielian Labors Versus White Sox On Tuesday |
Oakland Athletics starting pitcher James Kaprielian allowed one run across four innings in another short start for the rookie right-hander. The White Sox made Kaprielian work in this one as he had 92 pitches through four innings as he's now failed to complete the sixth inning in five straight outings. The rookie started the season strong, but he may be hitting a wall as Kaprielian has now thrown 102 1/3 innings this season, more than double what he threw last season or in 2019. It's hard to trust Kaprielian in fantasy lineups at this point, despite a good matchup with the Rangers on Sunday. |

Thu Sep 2 2021 | 12:03 | James Kaprielian Hit Hard By Tigers On Wednesday |
Oakland Athletics starting pitcher James Kaprielian allowed four runs across four-plus innings pitched in a no-decision at Detroit on Wednesday. The game was a microcosm of Kaprilian's season as he started off great, but faded towards the end as he couldn't record an out in the fifth inning. Kaprielian has failed to complete six innings in five of his last six starts and he's got a 6.67 ERA in that span with just a 20.2% strikeout rate. Perhaps the rookie is hitting a wall as he head into September as Kaprielian has thrown 97 innings this year, more than double his innings total from last season and close to double his innings total from 2019. He's a risky start next time out versus a tough White Sox lineup. |

Fri Aug 27 2021 | 10:06 | James Kaprielian Plagued By Long Ball In No Decision Thursday |
Oakland Athletics starting pitcher James Kaprielian allowed six runs across five innings in a no-decision versus the Yankees on Thursday. Kaprielian picked up eight strikeouts to salvage some fantasy value, but he was hit hard by New York as Kaprielian allowed three homers to the Bronx Bombers. This was a rough outing for the rookie, but Kaprielian has been good overall for Oakland as he's 7-4 with a 3.65 ERA, a 1.19 WHIP, and is averaging more than a strikeout per inning. He's a must-start fantasy option at Detroit in his next scheduled start. |

Sat Aug 21 2021 | 10:18 | James Kaprielian Picks Up Win Versus Giants On Friday |
Oakland Athletics starting pitcher James Kaprielian allowed one run in five innings to pick up his seventh win on Friday versus the Giants. Kaprielian walked a fine line in this one as he allowed three hits and four walks, but the only run San Fran could scratch together came on a Mike Yastrzemski solo homer. He picked up four strikeouts, which isn't great, but still represents an improvement over his last start when he only had one K. Kaprielian has been a nice find for A's and fantasy managers alike as he's 7-4 with a solid 3.25 ERA, a 1.17 WHIP, and a 24% strikeout rate. He's facing a tough Yankees lineup next time out, but the game is in Oakland, so it's worth rolling the dice with Kap in that matchup. |

Mon Aug 9 2021 | 09:31 | James Kaprielian Earns Win In Return From IL |
Oakland Athletics starting pitcher James Kaprielian allowed two runs on three hits and two walks to earn the victory Sunday afternoon versus the Rangers. Kaprielian was efficient in this one as he fired 52 of 84 pitches for strikes while earning four K's in his first start since landing on the injured list with a shoulder injury. The 27-year-old rookie has been a revelation for the A's this season as he's 6-4 with a 3.22 ERA, a 1.14 WHIP, and an 83/29 K/B across 78 1/3 innings. He's a strong fantasy option next time out in a rematch against the Rangers. |

Sat Aug 7 2021 | 14:55 | James Kaprielian Likely To Start On Sunday |
Oakland Athletics starting pitcher James Kaprielian (shoulder) is likely to come off the injured list and start Sunday's finale with the Rangers, according to Martin Gallegos of MLB.com. Kaprielian was placed on the injured list last Saturday with a shoulder impingement, but it appears that it was not a major issue and he'll only require a minimal stay on the IL. Kaprielian has been having a nice rookie campaign this year, going 5-4 with a 3.24 ERA, 1.161 WHIP and 26.5 percent strikeout rate across 72 1/3 innings of work. He's put up decent numbers against the Rangers this year with a 3.71 ERA and 1.235 WHIP over three starts, and he could have another solid outing against them on Sunday |

Sat Jul 31 2021 | 15:15 | James Kaprielian Lands On 10-Day IL |
Oakland Athletics starting pitcher James Kaprielian (shoulder) was placed on the 10-day injured list on Saturday with a shoulder impingement, according to Shayna Rubin of the Mercury News. He's been having a great rookie season in 2021, going 5-4 with a 3.24 ERA, 1.161 WHIP and 26.5 percent strikeout rate over 72 1/3 innings of work. He struggled significantly in his last outing which could have been impacted by the shoulder injury where he allowed six runs over 4 1/3 innings of work against the Padres. He's been one of the best rookie pitchers in fantasy this year, and managers should make sure to stash him on the IL until he returns although there is the possibility that depending on how long he's sidelined, he might not be back in time for the fantasy playoffs. |

Wed Jul 28 2021 | 10:23 | Rough Fifth Inning Dooms James Kaprielian Versus Padres |
Oakland Athletics starting pitcher James Kaprielian turned in his worst outing of the season on Tuesday as he allowed a season-high six runs across 4 2/3 innings at San Diego. Kaprielian cruised through three innings, but ran into trouble in the fourth when the newest Padre Adam Frazier got on base prior to a monstrous homer from Fernando Tatis Jr. The wheels came off in the fifth for Kaprielian as he could not escape the inning, marking only the second time in 13 starts the 27-year-old failed to complete five frames in a start. This one stung, but Kaprielian has been good for fantasy managers this season with a 5-4 record, 3.24 ERA, 1.16 WHIP, and 79 strikeouts in 72 innings. He'll look to rebound in a good matchup with the Angels on Sunday. |
