Wed Sep 1 2021 | 22:52 | Joe Barlow Tagged For Five Runs |
Texas Rangers relief pitcher Joe Barlow was unable to shut the door against the Colorado Rockies on Wednesday. He wasn't even able to get through an inning before allowing five runs (two earned) with two walks in the 9-5 loss. It was partly Barlow's fault for walking two batters, but after that the Rangers defense fell apart. Let's be honest, the Rangers aren't playing for anything, so they'll probably continue to ride with Barlow. However, he could have a shorter leash going forward. |

Tue Aug 31 2021 | 11:18 | Joe Barlow Records Third Save Of The Season |
Texas Rangers relief pitcher Joe Barlow (finger) returned on Monday and was thrown right into action versus the Colorado Rockies. He through one scoreless inning in the ninth to shut the door and secure the 4-3 victory. It was his third save of the season and Barlow is showing no reason to not trust him. He is worth snagging in fantasy leagues where saves are important. The Rangers are likely going to ride with him at closer until he proves them otherwise. |

Sat Aug 21 2021 | 12:18 | Joe Barlow Placed On Injured List |
Texas Rangers relief pitcher Joe Barlow (finger) has been placed on the 10-day injured list. He suffered a blister on his right finger during Thursday's contest. The Rangers don't exactly have many reliable arms out of their bullpen right now. Spencer Patton is the likely candidate to take over the closer role without Barlow available. He could have some short term fantasy value there. Fantasy managers should hold Barlow through the injury since he should return to the closer role in a week or so. |

Fri Aug 20 2021 | 11:56 | Joe Barlow Tagged With Loss On Thursday |
Texas Rangers relief pitcher Joe Barlow appears to be the favorite for save chances down the stretch. On Thursday, Barlow got through a scoreless 10th inning and appeared locked in. Sadly, that changed in the 11th when Ty France hit a go-ahead two-run home run off Barlow. He was given the loss in what was a hard fought 9-8 defeat to the Seattle Mariners. Despite losing this one, Barlow is expected to remain the closer in Texas. Fantasy managers should be able to trust him since he's posting a 1.08 ERA this season. Sadly, the Rangers don't do a lot of winning, so we'll see how many save chance he actually receives. |

Sun Aug 15 2021 | 20:48 | Joe Barlow Notches Second Save |
Texas Rangers relief pitcher Joe Barlow was called upon to close out the game versus the Oakland Athletics on Sunday. He was able to hold the three-run lead and record his second save of the season. The 25-year-old has posted a 0.61 ERA, 0.82 WHIP, and 18 strikeouts with the Rangers this season. It appears Barlow is going to be their primary closer going forward. Fantasy managers in need of saves should snag Barlow off the waiver wire. The Rangers don't do a lot of winning these days, but at least Barlow appears reliable out of the bullpen. |
