Sat Jul 14 201219:59Ludwick blasts walkoff HR to down Cardinals
Ryan Ludwick blasted a walkoff home run in the 10th inning on Saturday, delivering the Reds a crucial 3-2 victory over the visiting Cardinals.
The 10th-inning shot off Victor Marte was Ludwick's only hit in five trips to the plate. While his .239 average leaves much to be desired, Ludwick has provided the Reds with good power production, bashing 13 homers and driving home 36 runs on the season.

Sun Jul 8 201219:32Ryan Ludwick hits solo bomb in win over Pads
Ryan Ludwick hit a solo home run in Sunday's win over the Padres.
Ludwick's fourth-inning bomb off of Jason Marquis was his only hit in four trips to the plate. Ludwick has provided decent NL-only league value by going deep 12 times through Cincinnati's first 85 games, but hitting just .239/.311/.478, he's off-the-radar in most mixed formats.

Thu Jun 14 201216:27Ryan Ludwick hits ninth homer
Ryan Ludwick went 3-for-5 and hit his ninth homer versus the Indians on Thursday.
Ludwick is batting just .215, but 17 of his 32 hits have gone for extra bases. He'll probably keep getting plenty of playing time in left field after Drew Stubbs returns.

Sat May 19 201211:12Ludwick dealing with elbow injury
Ryan Ludwick is dealing with a swollen left elbow after being hit by an R.A. Dickey pitch Thursday.
Consider him day-to-day. Ludwick has struggled offensively this season, striking out 25 times in just 80 at-bats. Given his latest setback, it wouldn't be surprising to see Chris Heisey get more playing time in left field.

Sat May 12 201222:35Ludwick fans three times in Reds loss
Ryan Ludwick's early-season struggles continued on Saturday, as he went 1-for-4 with three strikeouts in the Reds' loss to the Nationals.
Ludwick is hitting just .187 with an OPS under .630 on the season and has now struck out 24 times in just 75 at-bats. But Chris Heisey is also having a tough time, so it's not like Cincy can make a big change.

Sun Apr 15 201217:52Ryan Ludwick slams Detwiler in win
Ryan Ludwick went 2-for-6 with a grand slam in Sunday's 11-inning win over the Nationals.
Ludwick's first home run as a Red came off of Ross Detwiler in the first inning. Ludwick is batting just .192/.276/.385 through his first 29 plate appearances, but should get enough playing time and supply enough power to be worth a bench spot in deeper mixed formats.

Sat Apr 14 201212:00Ryan Ludwick not in Saturday's lineup
Ryan Ludwick is not in Saturday's lineup.
The Reds are making sweeping changes to their lineup. Chris Heisey will start and bat sixth. Ludwick is still the preferred option in left field, but is batting just .150 in six games this season.

Thu Apr 12 201216:34Ryan Ludwick delivers game-tying double
Ryan Ludwick had a two-run game-tying double in the bottom of the ninth Thursday against the Nationals.
Manager Dusty Baker pretty obviously prefers Ludwick to Chris Heisey, which is why Ludwick was back in there today despite an .091 average. The double was his only hit today, leaving him at .133, but it'll probably be enough to get him another start Friday.

Thu Apr 5 201219:48Ludwick has RBI double in win Thursday
Ryan Ludwick had an RBI double Thursday against the Marlins.
Ludwick got the start in left field on Opening Day, but Chris Heisey later had a pinch-hit double to drive in a run. Many have pegged Heisey as a potential sleeper candidate, but given Dusty Baker's penchant for playing veterans, we're not holding our breath.

Wed Apr 4 201216:50Ludwick starting in LF on Opening Day
Ryan Ludwick will start in left field for the Reds on Opening Day against the Marlins.
Reds manager Dusty Baker told reporters that he didn't like the matchup of Chris Heisey against Miami left-hander Mark Buehrle. "We'll go from the there," Baker concluded.

Ryan Ludwick ripped a two-run, walk-off home run Wednesday against the Angels.
The longball came off mammoth right-hander Loek Van Mil with two outs in the ninth. It was Ludwick's first homer this spring, and it bumped his average up to .237. The veteran outfield is expected to share time in left field with Chris Heisey this season.

Tue Mar 27 201215:40Ludwick (illness) not playing Tuesday
Ryan Ludwick (illness) is not playing Tuesday.
Ludwick was scratched from Monday's lineup due to a flu-like illness, and wasn't feeling any better when he arrived back at the Reds' spring training complex Tuesday. "He's sicker," Reds manager Dusty Baker told reporters. "We sent him home. He was trying to play (Monday). We sent him home to quarantine him. We don't want whatever it is going around."

Tue Mar 27 201200:30Ryan Ludwick scratched due to illness
Ryan Ludwick was scratched from Monday's lineup due to illness.
He should be good to go in the next day or two. Ludwick is batting just .222 with 12 strikeouts over 36 at-bats this spring and is unlikely to have much fantasy value sharing at-bats with Chris Heisey in left field.

Thu Feb 9 201204:11Ludwick a better hitter away from Petco Park
Ryan Ludwick expressed optimism about his hitting prospects for the Reds, now that he won't have to play half his games in pitcher-friendly Petco Park.
"Playing in San Diego screwed me up," Ludwick said. "It turned me into a dead pull hitter. I got away from what I was as a hitter." In 160 games at Petco, Ludwick hit only .228/.301/.358. In 105 at-bats at the Reds' Great American Ball Park, he hit a far more impressive 276/.321/.600. We're not saying the 33-year-old will come close to his 2008 All-Star form. But rebounding from last season's letdown is a strong possibility, particularly if he earns a regular starting gig.

Mon Jan 16 201222:14Report: Reds, Ludwick agree to one-year deal
Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports.com reports that the Reds and Ryan Ludwick have agreed to a one-year contract with a mutual option for 2013.
Not a surprising landing spot considering Ludwick's history with current Reds general manager (and former Cardinals general manager) Walt Jocketty. Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com reports that he'll make a $2.5 million base salary with the chance to earn an additional $500,000 in performance-based incentives. Ludwick, 33, batted just .237/.310/.363 with 13 home runs, 75 RBI and a .674 OPS last season between the Padres and Pirates. He'll share playing time with Chris Heisey in left field.

Mon Jan 16 201219:23A's seeking RH bat like Ludwick or Gomes
John Shea of the San Francisco Chronicle writes that the Athletics are still pursuing a right-handed hitting outfielder like Ryan Ludwick or Jonny Gomes for depth.
It's not clear whether they are currently in talks with both players or if Shea is merely using them as examples, although previous reports have at least connected them to Ludwick. Shea also hears that the Athletics haven't ruled out making a run at Johnny Damon.

Fri Jan 6 201222:11Report: Ryan Ludwick has at least four offers
Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com reports that Ryan Ludwick has contract offers from at least four teams.
Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reported earlier this week that the Athletics were considering Ludwick, even after re-signing Coco Crisp. The 33-year-old outfielder batted just .237/.310/.363 with 13 home runs, 75 RBI and a .674 OPS last season between the Padres and Pirates.

Wed Jan 4 201208:58A's interested In Ludwick, Ross, Jackson
According to Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle, the Athletics will continue to talk to free agent outfielders, including Ryan Ludwick, Conor Jackson and Cody Ross.
The Athletics surprised many by agreeing to a two-year, $14 million contract with Coco Crisp on Tuesday, but they apparently aren't done upgrading their outfield. All three players mentioned above are coming off down seasons, so the cost shouldn't be exorbitant, though Ross is still reportedly aiming for a two-year deal. As of now, the A's figure to have some combination of Collin Cowgill, Josh Reddick and Michael Taylor in the corner outfield spots.

The 33-year-old batted just .237 with a .674 OPS in 139 games this year between the Padres and Pirates. The Athletics have also spoken with free agent outfielders Cody Ross and Conor Jackson.
