Thu May 13 2010 | 14:03 | Schierholtz moved to No. 2 spot |
Nate Schierholtz was moved up to the No. 2 spot in the lineup against the Padres. |
He could stick there against right-handers, which would be a nice boon to his value considering that he's mostly batted eighth to this point. Schierholtz is batting .341/.407/.500 with one homer and five RBI over 82 at-bats this season. |

Thu May 6 2010 | 09:11 | Schierholtz sits out after beaning |
Nate Schierholtz sat out Wednesday's game against the Marlins after he was plunked in the side of his helmet during the 12th inning of Tuesday's game. |
Schierholtz reported nothing more than a slight headache following the beaning, but the Giants will obviously take it easy with him. "Thank goodness I turned my head a little bit," said Schierholtz. The good news is that the medical staff was not concerned enough to give him an IMPACT test like they did with Aaron Rowand last month. Look for Schierholtz to return to the lineup shortly. |

Wed Apr 28 2010 | 19:26 | Giants' Schierholtz goes 5-for-5 |
Nate Schierholtz went 5-for-5 with an RBI double and an intentional walk Wednesday versus the Phillies. |
It's his glove that has gotten Schierholtz a gig as the Giants' starting right fielder, but he can hit a little, particularly when it comes to singles and doubles. The homers and walks won't come in abundance, but he might bat .280 and drive in 70 runs if he gets 500 at-bats. |
Sat Apr 24 2010 | 21:06 | Schierholtz starting 7th straight game in RF |
Nate Schierholtz is making his seventh straight start in right field Saturday as the Giants take on the Cardinals. |
John Bowker was anointed as the Astros' starting right fielder out of camp, but things have obviously changed. "Nate's finding ways to get his hits, and he's playing good defense out there," said Giants manager Bruce Bochy. "Johnny's going to get his time." Schierholtz, 26, is batting .320 in 25 at-bats this season while Bowker is hitting just .189 in 39 turns at the plate. |

Mon Apr 19 2010 | 20:08 | Schierholtz starting in right field on Monday |
Nate Schierholtz will start for a second straight day in right field. |
Don't worry too much yet. Schierholtz is the better defensive option than John Bowker in the spacious Petco Park. Plus, the Giants are facing a left-hander for a second straight day. Still, it's a chance for Schierholtz to make a statement. He's 4-for-14 (.286) with three walks to begin the season. |
