"Villarreal is not a big guy," said Tigers assistant general manager Al Avila, "but he's got a big arm. He's got a lively fastball and slider. He can pitch in either relief or start, and definitely has big league potential." The 23-year-old Venezuelan right-hander has averaged a 9.0 K/9 over his first five minor league seasons and should progress to the Triple-A level this year. |
