At this rate, the once 10-1 Buehrle is in real danger of somehow finishing the season at .500 or worse -- remarkable considering his torrid start to the season. His ERA has shot up from 2.10 to 3.27 since June 1, an 11-start span in which he's served up 11 bombs in 64.2 innings after giving up just two in his first 81 innings from April to June. Buehrle's struggles and inability to keep the ball down, mixed with a variety of other issues -- primarily offensive -- are a big reason why the Jays blew the AL East lead and now sit five games back of the Orioles. The 35-year-old draws a very tough matchup in his next start Sunday against the Tigers.

Buehrle had been on a nine-start winless streak, dating back to June 1. The lefty put a rose on a pretty ugly July where he went 1-2 with a 5.74 ERA, 1.84 and 15:7 K:BB in 26.2 innings over five starts. Buehrle will take the mound Tuesday against the Orioles.

Buehrle had been stuck on 10 wins for nearly two months, going 0-6 in his previous nine starts. He does have a favorable outing coming up next, facing an Astros team he's 4-0 with a 0.89 ERA against lifetime. That might be tasty enough to make him worth using in mixed leagues again.

A Brett Lawrie fielding error led to an unearned run being scored in the first inning. Buehrle then made a fourth-inning mistake, surrendering a two-run home run to Brian McCann. Overall, the lefty allowed six hits, walked two, and struck out four in the effort. He's lost each of his past three starts and now has a 2.32 ERA, a 1.23 WHIP, and a 59/28 K/BB ratio. Buehrle will face the Yankees again next week, but will have home field advantage.

Mark Buehrle fell to 10-3, allowing four runs over 6 1/3 innings as the Blue Jays were defeated 4-2 by the Orioles on Thursday.

It was Buehrle's worst start since the end of April and it wasn't really that bad of a start. He made a mistake in the first inning, surrendering a two-run home run to Delmon Young, but was otherwise solid. He allowed eight hits overall while walking one and striking out three. Buehrle maintains a fantastic 2.28 ERA with a 1.23 WHIP and a 55/26 K/BB ratio in 92 2/3 innings. He'll look to rebound against the Yankees on the road in his next turn on the rubber.

Mark Buehrle delivered another strong performance on Saturday, but was saddled with his second loss of the season since the Blue Jays were unable to provide any semblance of run support.

Buehrle surrendered just one run, a solo homer to Randall Grichuk, on five hits over seven strong innings. He also punched out six on the afternoon while issuing five walks. He has been simply outstanding this season, posting a 10-2 record, 2.05 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and 52/25 K/BB ratio over 88 1/3 innings. He'll look to continue his inexplicable dominance on Thursday when he takes on the Orioles in Baltimore.

Buehrle cruised easily through the Kansas City batting order, yielding just six hits and a walk over his eight scoreless frames. He's now 10-1 on the year with a 2.10 ERA and 1.19 WHIP. The right-hander will try to continue the dominance next time out against the Cardinals.

Buehrle avenged his one loss, an April 25 beating in which he gave up seven runs -- six earned -- and 12 hits in 5 1/3 innings. That previous start against Boston was the only one all year in which he'd allowed more than three runs (or two earned). The homer David Ortiz hit off him that day is still the only one he's given up this year.

Mark Buehrle became baseball's first seven-game winner after allowing two runs in six innings Monday against the Angels.

It was bend-but-don't-break Buehrle tonight, as the left-hander walked five and allowed six hits, but held the Angels to just the two runs. The five walks were two more than he had issued in any of his previous starts this season. Of course, Buehrle isn't going to keep this up, but it is a really nice story. At this rate, he'll clinch his 14th straight 10-win season around June 1.

Buehrle earned his MLB-leading sixth win of the season. The crafty lefty allowed only three hits, walked two, and struck out six. Buehrle's ERA fell to 1.91, and Wednesday's outing marked the fifth out of seven starts in which he has allowed one or fewer runs. Buehrle will face the Angels at home in his next outing.

The veteran southpaw walked three and didn't record a strikeout in the rough outing. It had been clear that a correction was coming after posting a 0.62 ERA, not allowing a homer and posting a strand rate over 90% through his first four starts, and it caught up to him in a big way on Friday. He'll now carry a 2.16 ERA and 1.23 WHIP into Thursday's start against the Royals in Kansas City.

Mark Buehrle continued his early season dominance, hurling seven shutout innings to defeat the Indians on Saturday afternoon.

Buehrle surrendered just four hits and three walks while striking out three. The 35-year-old southpaw is now a perfect 4-0 on the season with a stellar 0.64 ERA, 0.93 WHIP and 19/5 K/BB ratio through his first 28 innings. He certainly won't continue at this pace, and may not even prove to be mixed league relevant the remainder of the season, but he should continue to be started until he comes back to earth. He'll look for his fifth victory when he takes on the Royals in Kansas City on Thursday.

Mark Buehrle earned his third straight win Sunday, holding the Orioles to one run over seven innings.

Buehrle hasn't allowed more than one run in any of his three starts, as he lowered his ERA to 0.86 and WHIP to 0.90 in the win. On Sunday, he gave up just five hits while not walking a batter. The southpaw has it all working right now, and he'll look to keep it going when the Jays visit the Indians next weekend.
