Tue Apr 8 201422:17Buehrle continues hot pitching vs. Astros
Mark Buehrle held the Astros to one run over 5 1/3 innings, taking home the win on Tuesday.
Buehrle followed up Wednesday's gem with another solid start, giving up eight hits and a walk while striking out three. Don't expect such high quality outings on a regular basis, though stranger things have happened to a 35-year-old pitcher.

Wed Apr 2 201422:06Buehrle twirls gem against the Rays
Mark Buehrle tossed 8 2/3 shutout innings in Wednesday's start against the Rays.
The lefty escaped the start with barely a scratch, allowing only four hits and a walk while striking out 11 with 96 pitches. Buehrle, 35, finished with a 4.15 ERA last season and typically averages only five or six strikeouts per start, but he will turn in a start like Wednesday night's once in a blue moon. Don't be wooed by the performance, though, as Buehrle is still a risky play in mixed leagues against the AL's better offenses.

Mark Buehrle allowed two runs over four innings in an exhibition game against the Mets in Montreal on Friday.
In front of a raucous crowd, the southpaw gave up four hits and a walk, striking out two. The 35-year-old finishes camp with a 2.93 ERA over 15 1/3 innings. He's hoping for a better result this year after a down 2013 in which he posted a 4.15 ERA in the first year with his new club.

Sun Mar 23 201417:18Mark Buehrle earns first spring victory
Mark Buehrle won for the first time this spring after allowing one run in 6 1/3 innings Sunday against the Yankees.
Buehrle was making his first official start in 16 days, though he was still getting his work in. He's rarely been a successful spring starter anyway, but he knows how to get ready for the season. He won today despite not striking out a batter. 10 of his outs came on the ground.

Tue Dec 10 201319:10GM AA suggests Buehrle has been discussed
Blue Jays GM Alex Anthopoulos "all-but acknowledged" that Mark Buehrle's name had come up in trade talks, according to Sportsnet's Ben Nicholson-Smith.
At the end of the day, Buehrle's first season with the Blue Jays was about as good as any other Mark Buehrle season: 12-10, 4.15 ERA and 139/51 K/BB rate over 203 2/3 innings. It only felt like a disappointment due to the unrealistic expectations levied upon Toronto following its mega-deal with the Marlins last winter. Buehrle last threw for less than 200 innings in the year 2000, his rookie campaign. For frame of reference, that was the year that the PlayStation 2 was released.

Thu Sep 26 201320:24Mark Buehrle diagnosed with calf contusion
Mark Buehrle has been diagnosed with a right calf contusion.
Buehrle took a comebacker off the area during Thursday's start and was removed as a precaution. The injury isn't a long-term concern, but obviously the left-hander's season is over. He went out with a whimper, allowing three runs on eight hits over 3 1/3 frames before exiting. Buehrle ends the year with a 4.15 ERA.

Tue Sep 10 201322:27Buehrle gets shelled for eight runs in loss
Mark Buehrle allowed eight runs on 12 hits in four innings in a loss to the Angels on Tuesday.
Buehrle had strung together five straight quality starts heading into Tuesday's game, but he was bad from the get-go against the Angels. The southpaw allowed a home run to the second batter of the game and ended up allowing three home runs in total on the night. He may not be as good as he'd been over his previous five starts, but he also won't be as bad as he was Tuesday going forward. He'll look to rebound Sunday against a tough Orioles offense.

Mark Buehrle wrapped up an impressive August with seven scoreless innings in a victory over the Royals on Friday.
Buehrle scattered just four hits on the evening while walking one and punching out five. In six August starts, Buehrle compiled a 4-0 record, 2.70 ERA and 30/10 K/BB ratio in 40 innings. After a rough start to his Blue Jays career, he's turned his season around and delivered the solid veteran presence they expected when he was acquired this offseason. He'll look to extend his recent dominance when he battles the Diamondbacks in Arizona on Wednesday.

Mark Buehrle fired eight innings of one-run ball in Sunday's victory over the Astros.

Thu Aug 15 201322:09Mark Buehrle earns victory over Red Sox
Mark Buehrle scattered 10 hits while holding the Red Sox to one run in seven innings in a victory Thursday.
Buehrle benefited from having a runner thrown out at home in the first, and he stranded the bases loaded in the second. The fifth was his only one-two-three inning. He's now 4-0 with a 2.36 ERA in his last five starts. The Blue Jays would surely love to move his backloaded contract if anyone comes calling, but even with the recent surge, it doesn't seem all that likely that they'll get an offer.

Thu Jul 25 201322:12Mark Buehrle pitches ninth career shutout
Mark Buehrle pitched his ninth career shutout, a two-hitter against the Astros, to pick up a victory on Thursday.
Buehrle's masterful performance halted the Blue Jays' seven-game losing streak. His nine strikeouts matched the second highest total of his career. He fanned 12 against the Mariners on April 16, 2005, but his only other start with more than eight strikeouts came way back in 2003 against the Twins. The shutout was his first since his perfect game against the Rays on July 23, 2009. In fact, his only two shutouts in the last eight seasons were no-hitters.

Sat Jul 20 201316:29Buehrle tosses quality start in loss to Rays
Mark Buehrle delivered a quality start in Saturday's loss to the Rays, surrendering four runs (three earned) on 10 hits in his seven innings of work.
The veteran southpaw walked three and fanned five on the afternoon. Most of the damage came in the third inning, when the Rays utilized three hits and a walk to break through for three runs (two earned). Buehrle's first season in Toronto hasn't been what the Jays were expecting, as he owns a disappointing 5-7 record, 4.83 ERA and 1.40 WHIP. He'll face an easier assignment next time out when he takes on the Astros at home on Thursday.

Fri Jul 12 201321:55Buehrle knocked around for eight runs Friday
Mark Buehrle was hammered for a season-high eight runs over six innings in Friday's loss to the Orioles.
Buehrle served up three home runs in the loss, which is more than he had allowed in his previous 11 starts combined. The veteran southpaw had seen his ERA steady improve in each start since the middle of May, but now it's back up to 4.89 for the year. He's simply not much of an asset in mixed fantasy leagues at this point.
