Sun Apr 3 2011 | 18:16 | Mujica tweaks knee on Sunday |
Edward Mujica tweaked his left knee while backing up an errant throw in the third inning of Sunday's game. |
"I'll see tomorrow how I feel," the right-hander said. "I don't want to force it. We just started the season. It's been three games." The Marlins believe that Monday's off-day will allow Mujica to recover for Tuesday's game against the Nationals. Mujica finished the third inning but was then pulled for a pinch hitter. |

Wed Mar 30 2011 | 15:33 | Marlins' Mujica surrenders two homers |
Edward Mujica gave up four runs and two homers in his inning Wednesday against the Mets. |
The only reason Mujica will have a spot on the Marlins over Burke Badenhop is because he's out of options. He ends the spring with a 9.26 ERA, and the Marlins must already know that they misjudged in making him a significant part of the Cameron Maybin swap with the Padres. At least Ryan Webb still looks like a good bet. |

Mon Jan 17 2011 | 20:16 | Marlins, Mujica agree on 1-year deal |
Marlins and RHP Edward Mujica avoided arbitration Monday by agreeing to a one-year, $800,000 contract. |
Mujica was arbitration-eligible for the first time this winter. The 26-year-old right-hander was acquired from the Padres in November as part of the Cameron Maybin deal after posting a 3.62 ERA and an outstanding 72/6 K/BB ratio over 69 2/3 innings last season. He should be solid as a middle reliever for the club, but his home/road splits make us wonder if he was a product of PETCO Park. |

Sat Nov 13 2010 | 18:10 | RHP Mujica traded to Marlins in Maybin deal |
Edward Mujica was traded from the Padres to the Marlins in Saturday's three-player deal. |
Mujica had a remarkable 72/6 K/BB ratio in 69 2/3 innings out of the pen last season, but he also gave up 14 homers despite pitching in Petco Park. In road games, he had a 4.83 ERA in 31 2/3 innings. That's probably the reliever the Marlins are getting here. Mujica is durable and he should do a fair job of soaking up innings in middle relief, but he's not going to excel. |
