Sat May 18 201323:06Bedard goes six in no-decision vs. Pirates
Erik Bedard allowed two runs in six innings and took a no-decision as the Astros beat the Pirates on Saturday.
The start was Bedard's longest outing of the year, and it was the second-straight appearance in which he's allowed just two runs. Still, there's very little to like about Bedard's prospects for the rest of the season. His next start will come Friday against the A's.

Erik Bedard's next scheduled start has been pushed back from Friday to Saturday.

Sat May 11 201322:40Bedard pitches well but Astros take the loss
Erik Bedard allowed two earned runs over five innings in the Astros' loss to the Rangers on Saturday.
The veteran left-hander made it to the fifth inning for the first time this season and wound up striking out seven batters against one walk. Bedard still owns a hideous 6.67 ERA and 1.67 WHIP in 27 innings (six starts) this season and can't be trusted in any fantasy format.

Erik Bedard will start Saturday against the Rangers.
Bedard was demoted to the bullpen last weekend but the Astros suddenly need another starter and will turn back to the veteran left-hander. He has posted a brutal 7.36 ERA and 1.82 WHIP in 22 innings this season.

Sun May 5 201314:37Astros move lefty Erik Bedard to the bullpen
Astros manager Bo Porter said Erik Bedard will be moved to the bullpen "indefinitely."
Bedard has struck out over a batter per inning but holds an 8.20 ERA and 1.93 WHIP for the season and has failed to record an out beyond the fourth inning. The Astros have an off day Monday, so they won't have to pick a fifth starter until Friday.

Wed May 1 201322:44Bedard allows four runs in loss to Astros
Erik Bedard surrendered four earned runs over four innings Wednesday in the Astros' loss to the Yankees.
Another clunker for the veteran lefty. Bedard has now allowed 24 hits and 17 earned runs in 18 2/3 innings this season for an 0-2 record, 8.20 ERA and 1.93 WHIP. He should not be owned in any fantasy format.

Fri Apr 26 201323:35Bedard knocked around for five runs in loss
Erik Bedard was knocked around for five runs in three-plus innings Friday in a loss to the Red Sox.
Bedard's return to Boston was an ugly one. He gave up eight hits, seven of which were for extra bases. This included three solo home runs. The southpaw has allowed 13 runs in 7 1/3 innings over his last three starts and now owns an ugly 7.98 ERA for the year. He shouldn't be anywhere near your fantasy team and might not have a rotation spot for much longer.

Tue Apr 16 201301:40Bedard lasts only 1/3 of an inning
Erik Bedard lasted just 1/3 of an inning Monday against the Athletics, allowing six runs on two hits and four walks.
He also threw a wild pitch. Bedard walked the first three batters of the game and four of the first five, but it was a three-run homer by Nate Freiman that ultimately knocked him out of the contest. The left-hander lasted just four innings in his first start of the season, though he hadn't given up any runs over his first two appearances. He'll try to bounce back this weekend against the Indians.

Wed Apr 10 201302:09Erik Bedard misses out on easy win
Erik Bedard was removed after throwing four scoreless innings Tuesday in his start against the Mariners.
The Astros wanted to be careful with Bedard anyway, and because they scored 13 runs in a bunch of long innings early on tonight, they decided to play it safe and take their lefty out of the rout. Unfortunately, it cost Bedard an easy win. That went to Paul Clemens instead, even though Clemens gave up five runs in four innings. MLB rules get awfully silly sometimes.

Sun Mar 31 201323:11Erik Bedard gets 10-out save against Rangers
Erik Bedard was credited with his first major league save after pitching 3 1/3 scoreless innings of relief Sunday against the Rangers.
Bedard was terrific in relief, giving up just one hit and walking none. Today's outing was supposed to be a one-time thing -- Bedard is slated to start the fifth game of the season -- but it's worth wondering if the Astros might not be better off leaving him in the pen. It's not like he's going to throw 180 innings anyway, and the team could pluck a rotation candidate like Travis Blackley off the waiver wire this week.

Mon Jan 21 201320:05Astros do minor league deal with Erik Bedard
Astros signed LHP Erik Bedard to a minor league contract.
It's a nice low-risk move for the Astros, who could spin Bedard for a prospect at the trade deadline if he gets off to a decent start. The veteran lefty posted a 3.12 ERA over his first 10 outings in 2012 for the Pirates before falling apart. He was released by Pittsburgh in August.

Tue Aug 28 201202:06Pirates release struggling lefty Erik Bedard
Dejan Kovacevic of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports that the Pirates have released Erik Bedard.
The report has been confirmed by Michael Sanserino of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. Bedard entered June with a 3.12 ERA over 10 starts, but he's fallen apart since then, posting a 6.44 ERA over 14 outings. He can still be dominant at times, as evidenced by his 8.5 K/9 rate and two 11-strikeout games, so it's possible someone will pick him up for the stretch run. Kevin Correia will take Bedard's spot in the rotation.

Sun Aug 26 201217:51Erik Bedard shelled again
Erik Bedard had another dud of an outing in Sunday's shutout loss to the Brewers, allowing six runs on six hits and two walks in just 4 2/3 innings.
Bedard struck out three and served up a pair of home runs in falling to 7-14. Going back to July 1, Bedard has allowed five or more runs in six of his nine starts, skyrocketing his ERA from 4.27 to 5.01. It's fair to wonder how many more turns he'll get in the Pirates rotation as the Bucs fight for their first postseason appearance since 1992. Kevin Correia would be the obvious replacement.
