Lee (elbow) cleaned out his locker before Wednesday's game, the Phillies' official site reports.
The Phillies have not officially declared Lee out for the season, but this is a sign it is only a matter of time. Lee has previously said he did not expect to pitch again this season. He is on the disabled list with a strained left elbow.

Manager Ryne Sandberg said "there wasn't a whole lot revealed" from the examination on Lee's elbow this past weekend, the Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
Lee met with a team doctor Saturday, who confirmed the original diagnosis of a left flexor pronator strain. He has not yet undergone a MRI examination, and Sandberg was unable to confirm when that would happen. Lee is expected to miss the rest of the season.

Lee met with team doctor Steve Cohen on Saturday for an evaluation of his left elbow, the Phillies' official site reports.
Cohen confirmed the original diagnosis of a left flexor pronator strain. Lee will undergo further examination this week. He is expected to miss the rest of the season.

Lee (elbow) will see Phillies' team doctor Steve Cohen on Saturay, the Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
Manager Ryne Sandberg said Lee is not expected to have any scans or a MRI until the team returns home after this weekend. GM Ruben Amaro Jr. said that Lee will probably eventually see orthopedic surgeon James Andrews. Tommy John surgery is a possibility for Lee, who does not expect to pitch again this season.
Fri Aug 1 201405:52Cliff Lee: (Elbow) Further Tests Friday
Lee (elbow) will be examined by a doctor Friday in Washington and will undergo further tests when the Phillies return home after the weekend, the Philadelphia Daily News reports.
Lee was placed on the 15-day disabled list Thursday night with a left flexor pronator strain. He has acknowledged that he is unlikely to pitch again this season, and that Tommy John surgery is a possibility. Earlier this year, Josh Johnson was diagnosed with the same injury and ultimately underwent surgery after rehab was ineffective.
Thu Jul 31 201423:31Lee (elbow) placed on 15-day disabled list Thursday night
Lee (elbow), who acknowledged that he is unlikely to pitch again this season, was placed on the 15-day disabled list Thursday night, Matt Gelb of the Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
The actual transaction has little impact, as it was already made quite clear that Lee will be out for at least a few weeks. He suffered a recurrence of a left flexor pronator strain, the injury which he returned from less than two weeks ago after missing two months of action. For the immediate corresponding transaction, the Phillies will recall left-handed reliever Cesar Jimenez. Looking further down the road, David Buchanan will likely be called up to assume Lee's place in the rotation, starting with Wednesday' game against the Astros.
Thu Jul 31 201423:07Cliff Lee: (Elbow) Says He's Likely Done For Season
Lee, who has been diagnosed with a recurrence of a left flexor pronator strain, said after Thursday's game that he probably won't pitch again this season, Matt Gelb of the Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
As hinted at by a slew of Phillies reporters, Lee is in danger of missing the rest of the season. He was cruising through Thursday's outing against the Nationals, until he pulled up pointing to his elbow after a pitch in the fourth inning. The veteran lefty returned from a two-month absence less than two weeks ago, and is now dealing with a recurrence of the same injury. The Phillies haven't announced a replacement in the rotation, but David Buchanan appears to be the leading candidate. Lee, meanwhile, is scheduled to undergo an MRI.
Thu Jul 31 201420:40Cliff Lee: Diagnosed With Recurrence Of Flexor Strain
Lee (elbow) has been diagnosed with a left flexor pronator strain, the same injury that recently caused him to miss two months of action, Jim Salisbury of CSNPhilly.com reports.
Lee was removed from Thursday's game in the third inning after making it quite clear that his elbow was injured. Given that he's dealing with the same injury he just returned from less than two weeks ago, Lee may not pitch again this season. With hopes of playoff contention abandoned weeks ago, the Phillies will have little incentive to rush the veteran lefty. As for a replacement in the rotation, David Buchanan is lined up on the same day as Lee at Triple-A Lehigh Valley.
Thu Jul 31 201419:55Cliff Lee: Leaves Thursday's Game With Elbow Injury
Lee left Thursday's game in the third inning with an apparent left elbow injury.
Lee tapped his elbow twice after stepping off the mound, and after a brief meeting with trainers, he exited the game. This development is concerning, as a left elbow strain caused Lee to miss significant time earlier in the season. More information should be made available from manager Ryne Sandberg following the game. Lee made it through 2.2 scoreless innings before being forced to exit.
Thu Jul 31 201405:54Cliff Lee: Sees Better Results In Bullpen Session
Manager Ryne Sandberg said he expects to see better results from Lee in his start Thursday, the Philadelphia Daily News reports. "His [in-between starts] bullpen was better," Sandberg said. "The ball was just coming out of his hand a little bit better. It had a little bit more zip at home plate, which had been lacking. So I look for improvement."
Lee is 0-1 with a 7.59 ERA in his two starts since coming off the disabled list. He is unlikely to be moved at Thursday's trade deadline due to his struggles, but he could move in a waiver trade next month if he starts rounding back into form.
Wed Jul 30 201413:59Phillies willing to pick up part of Lee deal
CBS Sports' Jon Heyman reports that the Phillies are willing to absorb part of Cliff Lee's contract in a trade if they get the right prospects in return.
It's no surprise, of course, given that Lee is guaranteed more than anyone else in baseball through the end of next season (roughly $48 million) and hasn't pitched well in two starts since returning from an elbow injury. The veteran left-hander could be dealt next month, as he is expected to clear waivers.

Wed Jul 23 201412:26Lee could be traded after July 31 deadline
ESPN's Buster Olney was told by rival evaluators that the July 31 trade deadline doesn't apply to Cliff Lee because he'll clear waivers and can be dealt in August.
It makes sense, as Olney notes that Lee is making $25 million this season, is owed $25 million in 2015 and has a $12.5 million buyout on his $27.5 million club option for 2016. All told, he's guaranteed at least $48 million over the next 1 1/3 seasons, which will scare most every team off. Because he can be dealt in August, Lee will have more time to show he's healthy after missing two months due to a flexor strain in his left elbow.

Tue Jul 22 201408:56Lee can be traded to 9 teams without consent
Jerry Crasnick of ESPN.com reports that Cliff Lee can be traded to the Braves, Indians, Astros, Marlins, Twins, Mets, Padres, Rays, and Nationals without his consent.
You'll notice that there are four teams from the NL East on his list, but the Phillies would be unlikely to deal him to any of those teams anyway, so there's a mix of strategy and preference in his list. Lee has 20 teams on his no-trade list, but it's still possible that he could waive it if the right situation presents itself. The veteran southpaw struggled in his return from the disabled list Monday, so a trade appears unlikely right now. The Phillies might be better off waiting until August or potentially the offseason.

Mon Jul 21 201423:10Cliff Lee roughed up in return from DL
Cliff Lee struggled through 5 2/3 innings in his return from the disabled list, giving up six runs and 12 hits in a loss to the Giants.
Lee's velocity is typically in the 89-92 mph range when healthy, but he was working more at 86-89 mph tonight. Combine that with the fact that he still has some rust to shake, and he proved very hittable in his return. He gets the Diamondbacks next time out, so keep him active in mixed leagues for now.

Mon Jul 21 201418:22Many teams scouting in Philly Monday
ESPN's Jerry Crasnick reports that the Tigers, Blue Jays, Orioles, Brewers, Angels, Royals, Giants, Rangers, Diamondbacks and Pirates have scouts in Philadelphia Monday.
Cliff Lee, of course, is making his return from the disabled list Monday and will be a prime trade candidate this month if he can show he's healthy. Crasnick notes that he's not sure which teams are scouting Lee and which are there for regular coverage. It's also not clear whether it's a complete list. One team noticeably absent is the Yankees, a club that many expect to make a run at Lee.

Mon Jul 21 201414:33Phillies activate Cliff Lee for Monday start
Phillies activated LHP Cliff Lee from the 15-day disabled list.
Lee missed over two months with an elbow strain. He will return to the Phillies' starting rotation on Monday night against the Marlins and has two turns before the July 31 trade deadline to prove his health. He'll be an attractive name on the block if he pitches well.

Fri Jul 18 201410:42Phils prefer to trade Lee rather than Hamels
CBS Sports' Jon Heyman reports that there is a "strong belief" the Phillies would "much prefer" to trade Cliff Lee rather than Cole Hamels.
It jibes with previous reports that the club isn't looking to trade Hamels, who also isn't anxious to waive his no-trade rights. Lee, though, has indicated a willingness to waive his no-trade clause and is also under team control for three fewer years than Hamels. Recovering from an elbow injury, Lee obviously will need to show he's healthy before teams consider dealing for him. He's slated to rejoin Philly's rotation on Monday.

Mon Jul 14 201420:32Cliff Lee (elbow) rocked in final rehab start
Cliff Lee (elbow) was lit up for eight runs -- three earned -- on eight hits and a walk over just 4 2/3 innings in his final rehab start for High-A Clearwater on Monday.
He also hit a batter and gave up a home run. An error was made behind Lee to start off the game, but the veteran left-hander obviously wasn't able to pitch around it. There's been no word on Lee's velocity or how he felt, but clearly these weren't the results the Phillies were looking for in Lee's final tune-up before rejoining the rotation on July 21.

Sun Jul 13 201412:07Cliff Lee (elbow) on track for July 21 return
Cliff Lee (elbow) is on track to rejoin the Phillies' rotation on July 21 versus the Giants.
He originally had been pegged for a July 19 return, but the Phils will apparently give him a couple extra days. Lee will make what will be his final rehab start at High-A Clearwater on Monday, provided he doesn't have a setback. He has allowed three runs over six innings in his first two rehab outings.

Thu Jul 10 201420:48Cliff Lee scheduled to return on July 19
Phillies transferred LHP Cliff Lee from the 15-day disabled list to the 60-day disabled list.
It's a paper move, as Lee will be eligible to return on July 18 and is slated to rejoin the Phillies' rotation on July 19. The veteran left-hander allowed three earned runs over four innings Wednesday at High-A Clearwater in his second rehab start. He'll make one more rehab appearance before returning.
