Cubs signed RHP Tsuyoshi Wada to a minor league contract. |
Wada was given his release by the Cubs on Sunday after it was obvious he wasn't going to make the Opening Day roster, but it didn't take long for the two sides to work out a new deal. The 33-year-old has dealt with injuries and disappointment since coming over to the states, but he'll provide some organizational rotation depth for Chicago. |

Cubs released RHP Tsuyoshi Wada. |
The 33-year-old hurler disappointed this spring, posting an 11.12 ERA, 2.65 WHIP and 7/5 K/BB ratio over 5 2/3 innings. He's still talented, but the inconsistent results and long history of injuries could dissuade other teams from giving him a shot. |

"We're sorry that it didn't work out but it's time to move on." Wada never pitched for the club after signing a two-year, $8.15 million pact. Orioles declined LHP Tsuyoshi Wada's $5 million option for the 2014 season. |
It ends a strange two years for the 32-year-old, who signed with the Orioles but never threw a pitch in Baltimore. Wada had Tommy John surgery early in 2012 and spent much of this year getting back into form, finishing with a 4.03 ERA over 19 starts with the Orioles' Triple-A Norfolk affiliate. The O's may still try to re-sign the lefty, but likely to a minor league deal and certainly not at $5 million next season. |
