Sat Jun 29 201302:03Dioner Navarro hits eighth homer
Dioner Navarro went 2-for-4 and hit his eighth homer against the Mariners on Friday.
Despite all of Navarro's success, the Cubs have continued to go with Welington Castillo as their primary catcher, as they're still most interested in 2014 and beyond. Perhaps they'll trade Navarro to a contender in need of a part-time catcher next month. Navarro deserves the enhanced role with the way he's performed.

Thu Jun 27 201318:22Dioner Navarro goes deep vs. Brewers
Dioner Navarro smacked a three-run homer in Thursday's win over the Brewers.
The Cubs made the Brewers pay for a pair of errors in the third, as they scored four runs despite getting two hits and no walks, with Navarro's bomb being the big blow. Matt Garza's personal catcher, Navarro has been quite productive in a backup role this season, batting .258 with seven homers over 36 contests.

Wed May 29 201317:47Dioner Navarro smacks three homers for Cubs
Dioner Navarro homered three times and drove in six runs to lead the Cubs past the White Sox 9-3 on Wednesday.
That's six homers in just 59 at-bats for Navarro this season. It's his high total since he collected eight in 376 at-bats for the Rays in 2009. Navarro joins Will Middlebrooks and Miguel Cabrera as the only players with three homers in a game this season. He's the first Cub to hit three since Aramis Ramirez on July 20, 2010 and the first catcher to hit three since John Buck on April 29, 2010.

Sat Apr 13 201316:22Navarro homers in loss to Giants
Dioner Navarro delivered a pinch-hit two-run homer in Saturday's loss to the Giants.
It was the only offense of the day for the Cubbies. Navarro has now homered in consecutive games after going deep just twice in 73 plate appearances for the Reds last season. The switch-hitting catcher isn't going to hold much fantasy value as Welington Castillo's backup, so don't get too excited.

Fri Mar 29 201323:43Dioner Navarro blasts fifth spring homer
Dioner Navarro continued his impressive power display, blasting his fifth home run of the spring season in Friday's 6-5 victory over the Astros.
Navarro finished the evening 1-for-2 with his solo blast off Kevin Chapman in the third inning. He's now hitting .286/.322/.571 with five homers and 11 RBI on the spring season. With only the inexperienced Welington Castillo standing in his way, there's a chance Navarro finds enough at-bats to deliver value in deep two-catcher formats.

Thu Nov 15 201216:11Cubs give $1.75M to Dioner Navarro
Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com reports that Dioner Navarro received a one-year, $1.75 million contract from the Cubs.
Navarro is a .245/.306/.357 career hitter in the majors and hasn't appeared in more than 64 games since 2009, so it's a surprise he received a guaranteed major league deal, let alone for the price of $1.75 million. He'll likely split playing time with Welington Castillo next season.

Thu Sep 27 201215:57Dioner Navarro wins game for Reds
Dioner Navarro plated Jay Bruce with a walkoff triple in the ninth as the Reds beat the Brewers 2-1 on Thursday.
It sure looked more like a double than a triple for Navarro, but regardless, it was a game-ended. It went as his fourth career triple in 2,003 major league at-bats.

Mon Jan 16 201215:34Reds sign Dioner Navarro to minors contract
Reds signed C Dioner Navarro to a minor league contract.
Navarro drew interest from the Angels and Rockies before settling on a deal Monday with the Reds. He was given an invitation to spring training, but doesn't stand much of a chance of cracking Cincinnati's Opening Day roster. Unless, of course, Reds general manager Walt Jocketty can find a trade partner for Ryan Hanigan.

The Rockies have also been in contact with the representatives for the 27-year-old catcher. Navarro batted just .193/.276/.324 over 202 plate appearances this past year for the Dodgers, but he's merely being viewed as a backup option by Anaheim and Colorado.

Sat Aug 27 201108:35Mattingly didn't like Dioner Navarro's effort
Dodgers manager Don Mattingly said that he had "philosophical differences" with the recently designated for assignment Dioner Navarro.
That couldn't have helped his case to keep a roster spot. Well, that and his .193/.276/.324 batting line. "It's not just physical," Mattingly said. "It's being ready to play every day. We were all up front. We didn't hide anything. We had talked about some of the issues we'd had awhile back, the way I felt about it. It got to a point where it was time." Mattingly added that the Dodgers might have let go of Navarro sooner had Rod Barajas not been injured last month. It sounds like he'll be released rather than outrighted if he clears waivers.

Tue Aug 23 201117:18Dodgers designate C Navarro for assignment
Dodgers designated C Dioner Navarro for assignment.
He was cleared to make room for A.J. Ellis on the active roster. Navarro, 27, is batting just .193/.276/.324 with five homers and a .600 OPS over 202 plate appearances this season. He has been worthless offensively over the past three seasons, so it's possible he'll make it through waivers unclaimed.

Dioner Navarro homered off the Giants' Tim Lincecum for the only run of the game in the Dodgers' win Wednesday.
Navarro, who did nothing while Rod Barajas was out last month, has gone 8-for-25 with four RBI so far this month. He'll take over as the Dodgers' starting catcher if Barajas gets traded.

Sat Jul 9 201119:30Navarro has walkoff single in 1-0 win
Dioner Navarro delivered a walk-off RBI single in a 1-0 win over the Dodgers on Saturday.
Yeah, leave it to the .179 hitter to provide the offense in this one. The Dodgers were held hitless over the first eight innings of the ballgame, but they finally broke through when Juan Uribe doubled off Luke Gregerson with two outs in the bottom of the ninth. Navarro, the very next batter, brought him home. The funny thing is that Navarro could be designated for assignment when Rod Barajas (ankle) finally returns from the disabled list.
