Mon Oct 10 201112:08White Sox to introduce Robin Ventura Tues.
The White Sox will introduce new manager Robin Ventura at a press conference Tuesday at 12 p.m. ET.
Ventura was hired late last week in a bit of a surprising move. He has next to no coaching experience and wasn't thought to be on the White Sox's radar. But the 44-year-old played on the south side of Chicago for 10 whole seasons and was well-liked throughout his time there. It's hard to criticize such an unknown.

Sun Oct 9 201110:17Could White Sox trade Konerko?
Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times thinks it's "not out of the question" that the White Sox trade Paul Konerko over the offseason.
With a green manager, a major league roster full of disappointments and a farm system that's probably the worst in baseball, the Sox are likely facing an overhaul this offseason. They'll probably look to trade Carlos Quentin and a starter like John Danks or Gavin Floyd (or both) first, but Konerko isn't off the table. The veteran was claimed on waivers by the D'Backs in August but was pulled back after a trade was unable to be worked out. He would have to waive his no-trade clause but indicated he'd be willing to do so in the right situation. "I think you look at it, and you always listen to things on the table," Konerko said. "If Kenny or Jerry wanted to call and say, `This is what we're doing. What do you think?' you listen to it all and make a decision. It's a business."

Thu Oct 6 201116:50White Sox name Robin Ventura as new manager
Mark D. Gonzales of the Chicago Tribune reports that the White Sox have named Robin Ventura as their new manager.
"I wanted someone who met very specific criteria centered around his leadership abilities," White Sox general manager Kenny Williams said in a statement. "Robin Ventura was that man." The news comes as a surprise, but Ventura played 10 of his 16 major league seasons under White Sox owner Jerry Reinsdorf and that relationship has clearly remained healthy to this day. Ventura will be replacing Ozzie Guillen, another high profile player-turned-coach who recently inked a four-year contract with the Marlins. Ventura has barely any managing experience.

Sun Oct 2 201115:37Report: Martinez tops White Sox' wish list
FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal reports that Rays bench coach Dave Martinez is at the top of White Sox GM Kenny Williams' wish list for the team's vacant managerial position.
Martinez played for the White Sox from 1995-97 and has been the right-hand man to Joe Maddon since 2007. He has no past managerial experience. Rosenthal adds that Rays also like Yankees bench coach Tony Pena, but it appears Martinez is the preferred option. Former Red Sox manager Terry Francona is not being considered.

Tue Sep 27 201119:07Report: Bell not in mix for White Sox manager
According to Scott Merkin of MLB.com, Buddy Bell is "not in the mix" for the White Sox manager job.
Bell was floated as a possibility immediately following Ozzie Guillen's exit, but the White Sox appear content with him as their minor league director. Tony La Russa has also been rumored, but Indians first base coach Sandy Alomar Jr., Rays bench coach Dave Martinez and White Sox pitching coach Don Cooper look like more realistic possibilities for the job.

Tue Sep 27 201114:22Cooper to serve as Chicago's interim skipper
White Sox pitching coach Don Cooper will serve as the team's interim manager for the final two games of the regular season.
The Pale Hose parted ways Monday with Ozzie Guillen, who is headed to the Marlins in an odd trade that will net Chicago two minor league players. It's not known if Cooper is being viewed as a possibility for the managerial opening. Reports have linked Tony La Russa and Buddy Bell to the gig.

Mon Sep 26 201123:07ChiSox release Ozzie Guillen from contract
The White Sox announced following Monday's game that manager Ozzie Guillen has been released from his contract.
This is a little different than what has been reported throughout the night, but the White Sox retain rights to compensation should he accept a managerial position with another major league team in 2012. From all indications, Guillen will be named the new manager of the Marlins. Stay tuned.

Mon Sep 26 201118:30Nothing resolved between ChiSox, Guillen
White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen met with team chairman Jerry Reinsdorf on Monday, but told Mark Gonzales of the Chicago Tribune that nothing was resolved.
Guillen has one year remaining on his contract, but Monday's spirited pregame rant is just the latest example that he is unhappy with his situation in Chicago. "(Bleep) the years, said Guillen. "I want more money." We have seen plenty of soap operas with Guillen over the years, but it almost sounds as though he is doing everything within his power to ensure he won't be managing the White Sox next season.

Thu Sep 15 201114:35Guillen unlikely to return as ChiSox manager?
A source tells Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports.com that the chances of Ozzie Guillen returning as manager of the White Sox next season has decreased from 95 percent to 50 percent to 10 percent in recent weeks.
Guillen recently said that he doesn't want to manage next season without a contract extension, but he has also made critical comments of his team while his relationship with White Sox general manager Ken Williams appears "unsalvageable." Because the White Sox will be paying Guillen in 2012 anyway, Rosenthal speculates that they could attempt to rekindle trade talks with the Marlins, who reportedly covet the outspoken manager.

Thu Sep 8 201123:30Konerko blasts slam
Paul Konerko launched a grand slam in Thursday's win over the Indians.
It was his only hit in four trips to the plate, but he certainly made it count. The slam was the 10th of Konerko's White Sox career, putting him into a tie with Robin Ventura for the franchise lead. Konerko has followed up an MVP-caliber 2010 season with another monster year in 2011, as he's batting .314 with 29 homers and 97 RBI.

Paul Konerko went 3-for-4 with a run scored and his 93rd RBI in Chicago's win over the Twins on Wednesday.
The RBI was Konerko's first in six September games. Assuming he can drive in seven runs in Chicago's final 21 games, Konerko will reach 100 RBI for the second consecutive season and sixth time in his 15-year career.

Tue Aug 30 201118:07Guillen wants contract extension from ChiSox
White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen said Tuesday that he wants a contract extension this winter.
"One thing I make clear, I don't think I'll be back here for a one-year contract, and not know about the next year," said Guillen, who is under contract through 2012. Joe Cowley of the Chicago Sun-Times reported earlier in the day that the relationship between Guillen and White Sox GM Kenny Williams is "beyond repair," so we could see some major changes this winter.

Tue Aug 30 201110:54Ozzie, GM relationship now 'beyond repair'
According to Joe Cowley of the Chicago Sun-Times, the relationship between White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen and GM Kenny Williams is "beyond repair."
The two were once known for having a strong bond, but the White Sox have underperformed in three straight seasons and things are now quickly souring. Guillen could have an offseason suitor in the Marlins if the White Sox decide to cut ties. Williams may also be on the chopping block if owner Jerry Reinsdorf wants to shake things up from top-to-bottom. The White Sox sit 5 1/2 games back of the Tigers in the American League Central.

Mon Aug 29 201114:26Konerko starting at first base Monday
Paul Konerko is starting at first base Monday for the first time in the month of August.
Konerko had been limited to designated hitter duties since July 31 due to soreness in his calf and knee. Feeling better now, he should begin seeing regular starts at first base as the White Sox look to keep Adam Dunn and Dayan Viciedo in the lineup regularly.

Wed Aug 3 201121:14Paul Konerko thinks he'll return Thursday
Paul Konerko (knee, calf) thinks he'll be back in the lineup Thursday.
Konerko hasn't played since being stuck out on the outside of his left knee by a pitch during Sunday's game. He took pregame swings in the batting cages before Wednesday's game, and although he didn't feel well enough to be in the lineup, he thinks he'll "be able to play tomorrow by what I did today." Konerko expects the pain in his leg to linger for a week or two but thinks he should be able to play through it.

Wed Aug 3 201115:22Paul Konerko out of lineup again Wednesday
Paul Konerko (knee, calf) is out of the lineup for the third straight day Wednesday.
Konerko hasn't played since being stuck out on the outside of his left knee by a pitch during Sunday's game against the Red Sox. He is scheduled to resume swinging a bat Wednesday, so it's possible he could be ready to return for Thursday's series finale against the Yankees.
