Jesse Crain (oblique) should resume throwing this weekend.
Crain was held out of a scheduled appearance Wednesday due to a slight right oblique strain and is currently considered "day-to-day." Assuming he doesn't suffer any setbacks, he still has enough time to get ready for Opening Day.

Mon Dec 20 201014:19Crain signing becomes official
White Sox signed RHP Jesse Crain to a three-year, $13 million deal.
He'll earn $4 million in 2011 and $4.5 million each of the next two seasons. That's a lot to pay for a solid, but unspectacular setup man, but it's the going rate for middle relievers this offseason. It's possible Crain could get a shot to close in Chicago, but more likely he'll end up pitching in the seventh and eighth innings.
Wed Dec 15 201020:54Jesse Crain gets 3-year deal from White Sox
MLB.com's Peter Gammons reports that the White Sox have reached a three-year deal with free agent reliever Jesse Crain.
This may be the winter of the setup man. Scott Downs got a three-year, $15 million contract from the Angels just a short time ago and Joaquin Benoit landed three years and $16.5 million at the start of the hot stove season. Crain had a solid 2010, registering a smooth 3.04 ERA along with a 62/27 K/BB ratio for the Twins. He may get a chance at saving games in Chicago.

Sun Dec 5 201010:44Twins unlikely to keep Crain
The chances of the Twins keeping Jesse Crain "don't appear to be very good," according to the Minneapolis Star-Tribune's La Velle E. Neal III.
Crain posted a solid 3.04 ERA and 62/27 K/BB ratio over 68 innings this past season and will be looking for a multi-year contract that will probably price him out of the Twins' range. The Twins could experience a mass exodus of reliever this offseason, with Crain, Jon Rauch, Brian Fuentes and Matt Guerrier all possibilities to leave. They will get Joe Nathan back from injury and Pat Neshek for a full season, but finding bullpen help at the Winter Meetings will be a priority for them.

Sun Nov 28 201017:51Nine teams interested in Crain
According to MLB.com's Peter Gammons, nine teams have expressed interest in free agent Jesse Crain.
Gammons says the Rays, Rockies, Dodgers, Diamondbacks, Mariners, Orioles, Cubs, Nationals and Blue Jays are already involved. Crain has no closing experience, but he has some of the best stuff of any available reliever. That could get him a three-year deal similar worth close to the $16.5 million that Joaquin Benoit received from the Tigers.

Tue Nov 23 201022:43The Twins offer Crain arbitration
The Twins offered arbitration to Jesse Crain.
Crain posted a 3.04 ERA in 68 innings this past season. Minnesota's bullpen is likely to thin out during the free agent period, so Crain is likely to return to a higher-leverage role with the club next season.
