Jose Mijares will undergo surgery to repair torn meniscus cartilate in his right knee and miss about a month.
The Twins could enter the market for a left-handed reliever with Mijares down. Jesse Crain, Matt Guerrier and Jon Rauch will have to face more left-handers in the meantime.

Twins placed LHP Jose Mijares on the 15-day disabled with a strained left knee.
Mijares is scheduled for an MRI this week to uncover the full extent of the injury. The 25-year-old southpaw leaves behind a 2.81 ERA and 1.25 WHIP over 37 appearances this season. He has held left-handed batters to a .244 batting average this season.

Jose Mijares suffered a knee strain during Wednesday's game.
Mijares was spotted hobbling in the dugout and could need to spend a few weeks on the disabled list. He has a 1.25 WHIP and 21/6 K/BB ratio this season.

Mijares was expected to be activated from the bereavement list, however he hasn't arrived to the ballpark yet. Jeff Manship lives to see another day.

Mijares has a 1.69 ERA in 10 2/3 innings since coming off the DL last month, so he'll be missed, particularly with the Twins facing the Phillies this weekend. Ron Mahay will get additional work.

Twins activated LHP Jose Mijares from the 15-day disabled list.
Mijares looked pretty bad during a rehab assignment at Triple-A Rochester, but the Twins are obviously confident that he will be able to pull it together. He spent close to a month on the disabled list with a strained right elbow and returns to a 6.00 ERA and 2.67 WHIP.
Sat May 8 201014:48Mijares gets drubbed in rehab appearance
Jose Mijares gave up four runs on three hits in an inning of work at Triple-A Rochester on Friday.
Despite getting rocked, Mijares is expected to rejoin the Twins on Sunday and could be available to pitch when they host the White Sox on Tuesday. Mijares is eligible to return at any time, so when the Twins deem him ready to go, he'll be back in the bullpen.

Jose Mijares, who has been struggling with vision issues since the start of the season, appears to be headed for the disabled list.
A year after being one of the Twins' top relievers, Mijares has struggled mightily in 2010. The Twins are finally able to move Mijares to the disabled list now that lefty Ron Mahay is healthy again. What remains to be seen is how much of this move is due to a real injury and how much of it is due to Mijares' ineffectiveness.
