Wed Nov 23 201116:30Raul Ibanez offered arb. by Phillies
Raul Ibanez was offered arbitration by the Phillies.
The decision is a bit surprising, as the Phillies have given every indication that they're ready to move on from Ibanez. Perhaps the two sides have an agreement in place stating that the 39-year-old will not accept.

Thu Sep 29 201105:07Ibanez goes 1-for-6 in season finale
Raul Ibanez wrapped up the regular season with a 1-for-6 night with a run scored in a victory over the Braves.
Ibanez left six runners on base and struck out twice. The veteran showed his 39 years of age this season, batting 35 points below is career average of .280, and compiling an OPS 106 points below his .813 career mark. With free agency around the corner, and with young outfield talent like Domonic Brown and John Mayberry vying for playing time, don't be surprised if Ibanez signs with a different team during the offseason.

Wed Sep 7 201122:39Ibanez homers in win
Raul Ibanez hit a solo home run in Philadelphia's win over the Braves on Wednesday.
Ibanez's 18th bomb of the season was just his second since August 1. He is seven for his first 20 in September, however, and appears to be in the middle of one of his patented hot streaks. He's worth getting into your mixed-league lineup until he cools off.

Sat Aug 27 201111:27Raul Ibanez healthy
Phillies manager Charlie Manuel said Raul Ibanez is healthy and was not in the lineup Friday simply because Manuel wanted to play John Mayberry.
Ibanez had been dealing with a groin injury, but he's healed and did appear as a pinch-hitter Friday. Mayberry is slated to start over Ibanez again Saturday if the game isn't rained out, so we might be seeing a changing of the guard here.

Sun Jul 31 201117:34Ibanez ropes three XBHs, walks off Phillies
Raul Ibanez had a monster game against the Pirates on Sunday, homering twice before driving in the game-winning run with a walkoff double in the 10th inning of a 6-5 Philadelphia victory.
He plated four total runs. One of the streakiest players in baseball, Ibanez will finish July with a .284 average after hitting .211 in June, .315 in May and .167 in April. Hopefully that pattern doesn't hold for August, or Ibanez might finally find himself out of the Phillies' everyday lineup.

Raul Ibanez went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBI on Sunday, helping the Phillies to a 5-3 win over the Padres at home.
Ibanez is now up to 50 RBI on the season, 16 of which have come in July. That's highly unlikely to be enough to stop the Phillies from pursuing Carlos Beltran, however.

Sun Jul 10 201116:42Ibanez plates six as Phillies destroy Braves
Raul Ibanez went 2-for-5 with a home run and six RBI on Sunday, leading the way as Philadelphia whitewashed the Braves with a 14-1 win at home.
Ibanez scored Chase Utley on an error in the third before singling home two runs in the seventh and hitting a three-run homer in the eighth. The six-RBI day gives him 47 total at the All-Star break. His triple slash remains an ugly .241/.287/.416, however.

Sat Jul 9 201100:24Ibanez hits walkoff blast in win over Braves
Raul Ibanez slugged a walkoff solo homer in a 3-2 win over the Braves in 10 innings on Friday night.
He smoked a 2-0 pitch off Scott Proctor into the right field seats to send the Philadelphia faithful home happy. Ibanez finished the evening 2-for-5 and has collected extra-base hits in each of his last three games. Still, while the 39-year-old had a nice month of May, he's been one of the worst regular outfielders in baseball this season.

Wed Jun 29 201122:08Ibanez gets the best of Lackey, Red Sox
Raul Ibanez doomed the Red Sox and starter John Lackey on Wednesday evening, going 3-for-3 with a home run, double, two RBI and a stolen base in a 2-1 Phillies victory.
Ibanez is now 22-for-57 (.386) lifetime against Lackey, which makes it all the more curious the Red Sox didn't pitch around him in the seventh inning, where he hit what would prove to be the game-winning homer. Ibanez's first multi-hit effort in seven starts was just his fourth three-hit game of the season.

Fri Jun 24 201101:27Ibanez slowing down in June
Raul Ibanez struck out as a pinch-hitter in the seventh inning of Philadelphia's 12-2 loss to St. Louis on Thursday.
Time might be catching up to to the 39-year-old Ibanez, who has four runs, three RBI, and zero homers in 69 June at-bats. He put together a very impressive May, so he is still capable of turning things around. But temper expectations.
