John Lannan gave one run over three innings in his spring debut Monday against the Mets.

Thu Feb 2 201216:18John Lannan has a minor league option
Nationals GM Mike Rizzo confirmed Thursday that John Lannan has a minor league option.
If the Nats can't find a trade partner for Lannan this offseason and if he fails to lock up the final spot in the Washington rotation this spring, he might open the regular season at Triple-A Syracuse. The 27-year-old left-hander posted 3.70 ERA, 1.46 WHIP and 106/76 K/BB ratio in 184 2/3 innings last season. He's buried on a rotation depth chart in D.C. that includes Stephen Strasburg, Jordan Zimmermann, Gio Gonzalez, Edwin Jackson Chien-Ming Wang and Ross Detwiler.

Thu Feb 2 201212:31Report: Nats 'aggressively shopping' Lannan
According to Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports.com, the Nationals are "aggressively shopping" left-hander John Lannan.
The Nationals just won an arbitration hearing against Lannan, who will make $5 million in 2012. It's not clear who they are in trade talks with or whether a deal is close, but Rosenthal suggests that they might be motivated to clear his salary in order to make a late run at either Roy Oswalt or Edwin Jackson.

Tue Sep 27 201121:49Lannan posts a quality start against the Fish
John Lannan posted a quality start Tuesday, giving up two runs on three hits and three walks over six innings in a no-decision loss to the Marlins.
He struck out four. Lannan's two quality starts of September both came against the Marlins. Like last time, Javier Vazquez tossed a gem and foiled his chances at victory. Despite an ugly WHIP and K/BB ratio, Lannan gave up more than three earned runs just twice since the beginning of June. He ends the year 10-13 with a 3.70 ERA and will once again be a suitable add in NL-only leagues in 2012.

John Lannan allowed three runs on eight hits in five innings on Wednesday, improving to 10-13 in Washington's 7-5 win over the Phillies.
Lannan struck out three and walked one in his third non-quality start in four outings. He'll take a 3.73 ERA and 1.48 WHIP into his final start of the season on Monday, where he'll get the Marlins in Florida.

Thu Aug 25 201122:28Lannan posts quality start
John Lannan was quality Thursday despite picking up a loss, limiting the Diamondbacks to two runs on seven hits and two walks over six frames.
He struck out a pair, with the lone blemish coming in the form of a two-run homer from Chris Young. Though his K/BB ratio has been ugly, Lannan's results since the beginning of June have been impressive, as he sports a 3.04 ERA over 16 outings to lower his year for the year to 3.59. He'll square off against the Braves next week.

Wed Aug 17 201115:36Lannan (knee) completes side session
John Lannan (knee) made it through a side session Wednesday with no issues.
Lannan tweaked his left knee while making a diving play during his last start, but he should be good to go Saturday against the Phillies. The southpaw gave up seven runs (one earned) on four hits and five walks in his last start (also against the Phillies), so we would steer clear in fantasy leagues.

Sun Aug 14 201113:46John Lannan likely to make next start
John Lannan (knee) is expected to be fine for his next start.
Lannan tweaked his left knee while making a defensive play Saturday and said it felt "tight" Sunday. He'll have it checked out but should be good to go once his next start comes along, which will likely be Saturday following Sunday's rainout.

Sun Aug 7 201119:08Lannan takes no-decision but yields just one
John Lannan tossed six-plus innings of one-run ball but ended up with a no-decision against the Rockies Sunday.
Lannan struck out three, walked four and gave up six hits. The veteran continues to plug away, yielded three or less earned runs in 13 of his last 14 starts. But with a meager 83:54 strikeout-to-walk rate over 139 innings this year, there's no upside in fantasy.

He struck out eight and walked only one while giving up nine hits. He's won six of his last eight decisions to move to 8-7 on the season. Lannan hasn't had a bad start since mid-May. He'll bring a 3.65 ERA into this weekend's start against Colorado.

Sat Jul 23 201101:40John Lannan hits first homer in victory
John Lannan surrendered two runs -- one earned -- in 6 1/3 innings and hit his first career homer in the Nationals' 3-2 win over the Dodgers on Friday.
With a career .092/.149/.113 line in 195 at-bats, Lannan has been one of the game's weakest hitting pitchers since arriving in 2007. Tonight, though, he took Hiroki Kuroda deep and singled off him, doubling his season hit total from two to four. He was also pretty good on the mound, allowing just three hits. He's won five of his last six decisions to move to 7-6 on the season.

Sat Jul 9 201100:02Lannan (nose) may make next start
Nationals manager Davey Johnson said that John Lannan (nose) may be able to make his next start.
Lannan suffered a nasal contusion when he was hit in the face by a comebacker off the bat of Ty Wigginton on Friday night. With the benefit of the All-Star break, the Nats could push his next start back to July 19 against the Astros.

Fri Jul 8 201120:42Lannan day-to-day with nasal contusion
John Lannan is considered day-to-day with a nasal contusion.
Good news. Lannan was involved in a scary incident Friday when he took a comebacker off the face, but he didn't suffer any fractures and appears likely to be available for his first start after the All-Star break. He allowed three runs over 3 1/3 innings before exiting.

Wed Jun 22 201122:01Lannan moves to 5-5
John Lannan allowed just one run on three hits in 5 2/3 innings on Wednesday, improving to 5-5 in Washington's 2-1 win over the Mariners.
He struck out three and walked none. Tonight was the first time in four outings, and just the second time in nine, that Lannan failed to complete at least six innings of work. Now the owner of a 3.40 ERA and 1.34 WHIP, Lannan will get the Angels in Anaheim his next time out.

Thu Jun 16 201122:27John Lannan solid again
John Lannan had his sinker working again Thursday, limiting the Cardinals to two runs on six hits and two walks over seven innings in the 7-4 extra innings win.
He struck out just two but retired 15 batters on the ground and three through the air. Lannan was in line for his fifth win before Drew Storen blew just his second save of the season. But, despite not picking up a win, the left has been brilliant of late, posting a 1.08 ERA over his last five outings to push his ERA on the year down to 3.52. He'll try to keep the good times rolling next week against the Mariners.

John Lannan allowed just one run on four hits and three walks in seven innings of work on Monday, but got stuck with a no-decision in Washington's 13-inning loss in San Francisco.
Lannan matched a season-high with six strikeouts while also completing seven innings of work for just the second time. Through 13 outings and 73 2/3 innings, he is now the owner of a 3.79 ERA, 1.43 WHIP and 44/31 K/BB ratio. He'll get the Padres in San Diego this weekend.

Sat May 21 201118:55Lannan knocked around in loss to Orioles
John Lannan was charged with six runs over six-plus innings in Saturday's loss to the Orioles.
The six runs allowed tied a season-high. All told, Lannan allowed nine hits -- including a two-run shot by Nolan Reimold -- to go along with one walk and a season-high six strikeouts. The southpaw now has a 5.03 ERA on the year and is winless over his last six starts. He'll try to turn things around against the light-hitting Padres next week.
