Wed Apr 24 201301:34Jim Henderson picks up fifth save
Jim Henderson recorded his fifth save with a hitless ninth Tuesday against the Padres.
It's going to be interesting to see what the Brewers do here with John Axford turning in his sixth straight scoreless appearance tonight. Henderson has allowed just one run in 10 innings this season, so there's no reason to make a change right now. Still, the Brewers may go back to Axford if he keeps it up for another week or two.

Fri Apr 19 201323:51Henderson notches third save in win Friday
Jim Henderson notched his third save of the season in Friday's win over the Cubs.
Dioner Navarro reached with a two-out single in the top of the ninth, but Jonathan Lucroy was able to throw out pinch-runner Julio Borbon on a stolen base attempt at second base to finish off the one-run victory. Henderson has allowed just one run over eight innings this season to go along with a 10/1 K/BB ratio. While Axford has pitched much better recently in lower-leverage situations, Henderson is the pitcher to own in this bullpen at the moment.

Wed Apr 17 201300:18Henderson tallies second save in win over SF
Jim Henderson earned his second save of the season in the Brewers' 10-8 victory over the Giants on Tuesday.
It wasn't quite smooth sailing for the big man, as Buster Posey greeted him with a double to lead off the inning. Posey would later score on a Brandon Belt single, but Henderson eventually got Andres Torres to fly out to end the game. With John Axford still flailing, the closer job should remain with Henderson as long as he remains relatively effective.

Mon Apr 8 201317:55Henderson bails out Brewers for first save
Jim Henderson recorded his first save of the season in Monday's win over the Cubs.
The Brewers had a four run lead, but Henderson had to bail out Brandon Kintzler after he loaded the bases with three straight singles. It's another sign that John Axford has officially been phased out at closer. Henderson allowed one unearned run before striking out Steve Clevenger and Dave Sappelt. He got Starlin Castro to fly out to right field to end the game.

Thu Apr 4 201310:26Jim Henderson viewed as Brewers' Plan B
MLB.com's Adam McCalvy writes that Jim Henderson is being viewed as the Brewers' "Plan B" at closer.
"Plan A" involves sticking with John Axford, who has allowed six hits and four earned runs through 1 2/3 innings this season. If Axford's struggles continue, Henderson should get the next crack at the ninth-inning gig. The Canadian right-hander is stash-worthy in mixed leagues.

Thu Aug 16 201223:53Henderson picks up save against Phillies
Jim Henderson was called upon to get the final two outs in the ninth inning Thursday against the Phillies and responded by nabbing his third save of the season.
Manny Parra opened the frame but allowed consecutive singles while recording only one out before Brewers manager Ron Roenicke turned it over to Henderson. Roenicke stated publicly earlier in the day that Henderson would continue to receive save chances, even after his blown opportunity on Wednesday. And he stuck by that.

Thu Aug 16 201218:24Henderson will continue to get save chances
Brewers manager Ron Roenicke said Thursday that Jim Henderson will still get save opportunities.
Henderson blew another save Wednesday night against the Rockies and has now allowed five earned runs on 12 hits in 8 1/3 innings since his call-up. But the Brewers don't have many better options at the moment with John Axford and Francisco Rodriguez also struggling mightily. It's a big mess right now for fantasy owners.

Sat Aug 11 201222:45Henderson hit hard, takes loss vs. Astros
Jim Henderson, recently named the Brewers' interim closer, struggled in a non-save situation on Saturday, allowing a run on two hits and two walks without recording an out.
Henderson entered a 5-5 game in the bottom of the ninth, and proceeded to implode. He allowed a leadoff single to Jose Altuve, then walked the next two hitters to load the bases before allowing a game-winning RBI single to Scott Moore. With as bad as the Brewers bullpen has been, it's possible that Henderson will still be given a chance to succeed in the closer's role. But he certainly won't have a long leash now.

Wed Aug 8 201217:13Jim Henderson gets another save
Jim Henderson recorded his second save in two days with a hitless ninth against the Reds on Wednesday.
After parts of 10 seasons in the minors, Henderson just arrived in the majors for the first time on July 26. Now he looks to be the Brewers' closer, at least until he blows one. He has a 10/1 K/BB ratio in seven innings for Milwaukee.

Tue Aug 7 201223:04Henderson earns save for the Brew Crew
Jim Henderson earned his first major league save by tossing a perfect ninth inning in Tuesday's 3-1 win against the Reds.
Henderson also struck out a batter. John Axford hurled 29 pitches on Tuesday and Francisco Rodriguez tossed 24. While those veteran relievers have struggled this year and Henderson is enjoying a minor breakout, Henderson should be looked at as no better than a third option for saves in Milwaukee's bullpen at the moment. The Canadian right-hander posted a stellar 1.69 ERA and 56/22 K/BB ratio in 48 innings earlier this season at the Triple-A level and now has a 1.50 ERA over seven appearances for the Brewers.
