Fri Dec 19 201419:02Casey McGehee: Headed To San Francisco
McGehee will be headed to the Giants in a trade, Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com reports.
The return for Miami is still uncertain, but McGehee will join the World Series champs, replacing Pablo Sandoval at third base. After spending 2013 with the Rakuten Golden Eagles of the Japan Pacific League, McGehee made his way back to the States and slashed .287/.355/.357 with 76 RBI in 160 games with the Marlins last season. He managed just four homers in 691 plate appearances, but his HR/FB rate was down at a ridiculously-low 2.5%, so that number figures to improve in 2015 even with the move to another pitcher's park. His RBI numbers may take a significant hit, however, while likely batting lower in the order with his new club.

McGehee went 2-for-4 and scored the Marlins' lone run during Saturday's loss to the Nationals.
McGehee resurrected his major league career with the Marlins in 2014, compiling a .289/.356/.359 slash line with 56 runs and 76 RBI heading into the season's final game. Despite his limited contributions in the power department, McGehee was one of the Marlins' most reliable run producers for the balance of the season. He's arbitration-eligible one more time in 2015 and the Marlins seem likely to bring him back a consistent bat and strong veteran presence in the locker room.
Thu Sep 25 201419:51McGehee 2-3 with three RBI in Thursday's win over Philadelphia
McGehee went 2-for-3 with three RBI in Thursday's win over Philadelphia.
McGehee has had an interesting season in his return to the majors, not supplying any power (just four homers), while hitting for average (.288), with 74 RBI. He signed a one-year contract in December, so it will be interesting to see if Miami elects to bring him back in 2015.
Thu Sep 18 201416:39McGehee out of lineup Thursday against Nationals
McGehee is out of the lineup Thursday against the Nationals, MLB.com's Joe Frisaro reports.
Though he's enjoying a six-game hitting streak, McGehee is probably due for a day off, as he's appeared in every game for the Marlins since Aug. 8. Enrique Hernandez will cover third base for McGehee.

McGehee clubbed his fourth home run of the year Tuesday, while going 2-for-4 with a walk, two RBI and two runs scored in the Marlins' 6-3 win over the Brewers.
McGehee played the hero Tuesday night, as his two-run home run off Francisco Rodriguez broke a 3-3 tie in the ninth inning. While not known for the long ball, his 28 doubles and .297/.367/.374 season slash line continues to make him relevant in fantasy circles.

McGehee was productive at the dish Monday afternoon, going 2-for-3 with a run scored and two RBI.
McGehee's bat has perked up a bit after cooling down following the All-Star break, hitting .389 in his last five games. The infielder is now hitting .296 with 64 RBI on the season after being out of the Major Leagues a season ago.

McGehee slugged his third home run of the season on his way to a 2-for-4 day as the Marlins fell to the Reds on Sunday.
McGehee entered the weekend series with the Reds with just two hits in his first 16 August at-bats, but quickly turned things around with a 5-for-13 weekend that included a home run and two doubles. Remarkably, McGehee has driven in 60 RBI in 115 games this year while providing just three home runs out of the cleanup spot. Still, he's remained productive while sporting a solid .300/.370/.379 slash line for the year.

McGehee went 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles and a run scored in his return to the lineup Friday against the Reds.
After struggling through July and early August, McGehee got a breather Thursday which appears to have helped the veteran get back on track. The multi-hit effort was McGehee's first since July 26 and pushed his average back to an even .300 on the year. He's tallied 59 RBI for the Marlins through 113 games during a resurgent 2014 season.
Thu Aug 7 201415:42Casey McGehee: Out Thursday
McGehee is out of the Marlins' lineup Thursday against the Pirates, Joe Frisaro of MLB.com reports.
McGehee has started all but one of the Marlins' 113 games to this point, but he'll sit Thursday as Donovan Solano mans third and Garrett Jones bats cleanup against right-hander Edinson Volquez. Failing to bounce back from a down month of July (.707 OPS), McGehee has gotten off to a 2-for-16 start to August.
Tue Jul 22 201420:17Marlins could extend Casey McGehee
MLB.com's Joe Frisaro reports that the Marlins are likelier to extend Casey McGehee than trade him.
McGehee is a sell high candidate if there ever was one, but the Marlins evidently want to keep him around. The third baseman is eligible for arbitration this winter for a final time, so the Marlins wouldn't necessarily have to extend McGehee in order to keep him around for another year. McGehee, who has drawn interest from the Mariners, among other clubs, is batting .322 with 56 RBI this season.

Tue Jul 22 201419:44Mariners interested in Casey McGehee
CBS Sports' Jon Heyman reports that the Mariners are among the teams interested in Casey McGehee.
McGehee has played his way into being a nice trade chip for the Marlins, batting .322 with 56 RBI. The Mariners are intent on finding a right-handed bat but have mostly been looking at outfielders. McGehee has played just one game in the outfield as a pro, but he could be used in the DH spot, with Corey Hart shifting to the outfield.

Sun Jul 20 201416:05McGehee homers to help Marlins top Giants
Casey McGehee homered Sunday in the Marlins' 3-2 victory over the visiting Giants.
It was a two-run shot to deep left-center field off Giants starter Tim Lincecum. McGehee is batting .322 with 56 RBI in 96 games this season, but Sunday's home run was only his second. Part of that is the park he calls home. Marlins GM Dan Jennings said earlier this month that McGehee will not be on the block at this year's July 31 trade deadline, so don't expect the power to improve all that much down the stretch.

Tue Jul 8 201410:25Jennings: Marlins won't trade Casey McGehee
Marlins general manager Dan Jennings told Bob Nightengale of USA Today that the team will not trade Casey McGehee.
Not surprisingly, Jennings also confirmed that the Marlins have no plans to deal slugger Giancarlo Stanton, but it's a bit surprising that he has such a hard stance on McGehee. While the 31-year-old has put together a nice comeback season, he's not a long-term building block. Still, the Marlins don't appear interested in selling high.

Sun Jul 6 201420:23McGehee scores twice, has two hits Sunday
Casey McGehee went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI in Sunday's win over the Cardinals.
It's been a renaissance year for the 31-year-old, and he capped off a terrific series with a two-hit day Sunday. McGehee was 7-for-13 in the series and has four multi-hit games in his last five, raising his average to .320. Even with a noticeable lack of power, McGehee has become a mixed league option in his return to MLB.

Casey McGehee reached five of the six times he was up Monday, going 2-for-3 with an RBI and three walks.
You've certainly heard about McGehee's impressive RBI numbers by now, but did you know he had a .373 OBP? He came in at .280 in 2011 and .284 in 2012 before leaving to play in Japan last year. He's a big reason the Marlins are currently a game over .500.

Sun Jun 15 201417:01Casey McGehee drives in three more
Casey McGehee went 3-for-4 with three RBI in Sunday's win over the Pirates.
The Marlins were trailing 2-0 in the eighth inning, but McGehee tied things up with a two-RBI double. He then sent everyone home with a walk-off sacrifice fly in the 10th. The power hasn't been there, as McGehee has hit just one homer and is slugging .389. However, the Marlins have to thrilled overall with his .309/.363/.389 batting line and 43 RBI.

Casey McGehee finally hit his first homer of the year Saturday in a losing cause against the Padres.
McGehee was hitting .309 with 23 RBI in 136 at-bats, so it's not like he was off to a rough start. However, he was without a homer until taking Eric Stults deep in the first tonight.
