Mon May 5 201423:34Casey McGehee plates winning run for Marlins
Casey McGehee singled off the heel of Gonzalez Germen on a comeback in the bottom of the ninth Monday to plate the winning run as the Marlins beat the Mets 4-3.
McGehee still doesn't have a homer in 123 at-bats this season, but he's batting .309 and he's driven in 21 runs. The Marlins will keep hitting him in the middle of the order as long as he keeps racking up RBI, but sustained mixed-league value probably isn't in the offing.

Thu May 1 201422:32McGehee's pair of hits and RBI pace Marlins
Casey McGehee went 2-for-4 with an RBI double and an RBI single in Thursday's win over the Braves.
McGehee has had a nice week, notching three multi-hit games in his last five games. His double in the first inning gave the Marlins an early 1-0 lead, and his single in the seventh inning was the eventual game-winning hit, putting the Marlins up 5-4. McGehee's star has fallen after breaking out with 23 home runs and 104 RBI with the Brewers in 2011. The power hasn't been there yet, but McGehee has used a high average (now .305) to emerge as a key contributor to the Marlins' offense.

Wed Apr 30 201422:10McGehee logs three hits as Fish rout Braves
Casey McGehee went 3-for-4 with a walk and a double and two runs scored as the Marlins defeated the Braves on Wednesday.
McGehee was an RBI machine for the Marlins early in the season, but has knocked in only one run since April 20. However, with Wednesday night's effort, he brought his average up to .297. He remains productive as a bargain-bin grab signed by the Marlins back in December.

Tue Apr 22 201421:36McGehee drives in lone run in Marlins' win
Casey McGehee drove in the only run in the Marlins' win over the Braves on Tuesday.
McGehee followed Giancarlo Stanton's fourth inning double with an RBI single, the only scoring in Tuesday's 1-0 win. It was his only hit in four at-bats. All McGehee's done in his return to Major League Baseball is bat .291 with 16 RBI through 21 games. That mark is good for fourth in the National League.

Tue Apr 15 201422:12McGehee posts trio of hits against Nats' arms
Casey McGehee went 3-for-5 with two runs batted in as the Marlins beat the Nationals on Tuesday.
The Marlins, McGehee included, were squaring up Nationals starter Stephen Strasburg and reliever Craig Stammen well. McGehee knocked in both of his runs with a single in the bottom of the second, and now has 13 RBI. McGehee hasn't been a reliable run producer since 2010 with the Brewers.

Thu Apr 3 201416:09McGehee drives in three runs in Marlins' win
Casey McGehee had a big day at the dish in Thursday's win over the Rockies, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, two walks, and a run scored.
McGehee had a game-tying triple in the seventh inning and gave the Marlins some insurance with a two-run single one inning later. After spending 2013 in Japan, the 31-year-old is 6-for-13 (.462) with a league-leading eight RBI through four games this year. Serving as the starting third baseman for the Marlins, he could prove to be a nice value in NL-only leagues.

Mon Mar 31 201422:47Casey McGehee knocks in four
Casey McGehee knocked in four runs with a pair of doubles versus the Rockies on Monday.
McGehee got to his cleanup tonight against a lefty. Garrett Jones figures to occupy that spot against righties for now, but it's not like Jones should be guaranteed anything; there aren't any true No. 4 or 5 hitters in that Miami lineup.

Tue Mar 25 201417:15Casey McGehee hits second spring homer
Casey McGehee hit his second spring homer in the Marlins' 6-5 win over the Cardinals on Tuesday.
McGehee has picked it up some and is now hitting .245/.333/.377 in 53 at-bats for the spring. The Marlins will give him every chance to stick as their regular third baseman. He might keep the job, but we don't expect him to make much of an impact in fantasy leagues.

Sat Mar 8 201416:59Casey McGehee hits first homer of spring
Casey McGehee hit his first homer of the spring and walked against the Braves on Saturday.
McGehee is off to a 4-for-14 start in his bid to secure the third base job in Miami. As long as he's decent this spring, he should start on Opening Day.

Wed Dec 18 201315:53Marlins sign McGehee away from Japan
Marlins signed 3B Casey McGehee to a one-year, $1.1 million contract.
The deal includes incentives, which haven't yet been announced. McGehee had to move across the ocean after a few terrible major league seasons, but he pumped life back into a career being read its last rites by slashing .289/.371/.512 with 27 homers in Japan's Pacific League in 2013. For the Marlins, McGehee represents a no-risk, medium-reward transaction. He should slot into the last half of Miami's 2014 lineup and carries some NL-only intrigue.

Wed Dec 18 201313:34Report: Marlins sign 3B McGehee to 1-yr deal
The Marlins have signed free agent third baseman Casey McGehee to a one-year deal, according to Clark Spencer of the Miami Herald.
The 31-year-old punished pitchers across the sea this past season, slashing 289/.371/.512 with 27 homers in Japan's Pacific League. McGehee, who was Masahiro Tanaka's teammate with the Rakuten Golden Eagles, will join a lineup in South Florida that includes Rafael Furcal, Christian Yelich, Giancarlo Stanton, Garrett Jones and Jarrod Saltalamacchia. NL-only owners should keep an eye on the former Brewer this spring.

Sat Dec 14 201314:22Marlins looking at McGehee, Betemit
The Marlins are looking at Casey McGehee and Wilson Betemit in their attempts to land a third baseman.
McGegee, 31, is coming off a big year in Japan in which he hit .289/.371/.512 with 27 homers, but it sounds like he'd rather play in MLB if the money is similar. That probably means a team will have to offer him at least $2.5 million-$3 million. Betemit is the better bet of the two offensively, but defense is a big issue there, making him a less-than-ideal option.

Wed Oct 2 201311:30Casey McGehee considering return to MLB
Casey McGehee is considering a return to MLB after playing in Japan in 2013.
McGehee, 30, batted .289/.371/.512 with 27 home runs and 90 RBI over 137 games this season with the Rakuten Golden Eagles of Japan's Pacific League. He's hoping to parlay the big year into an opportunity with an MLB team, but he hasn't closed the door on returning to Japan. "It has been a great season in Japan and at the end of the season he will decide whether to continue in Japan or return here," said Barry Meister. McGehee hit just .217 with nine homers and a .643 OPS during his last stint in the majors in 2012.

Fri Dec 21 201208:24Casey McGehee signs on with Japanese club
Casey McGehee has agreed to a one-year, $1.3 million deal with the Rakuten Golden Eagles of Japan's Pacific League.
It's a little surprising McGehee wasn't able to find a job in the states, but it appears he likely would have had to settle for a minor league deal. It's been quite a fall for the 30-year-old, as he's just two seasons removed from a 23-homer, 104-RBI campaign. He batted only .217/.284/.358 with nine homers and a .643 OPS in 114 games this past season between the Pirates and Yankees.

Wed Oct 31 201212:54Casey McGehee elects free agency
Casey McGehee has elected free agency.
McGehee was presumably removed from the 40-man roster at some point and refused a minor league assignment. The 29-year-old was almost certainly going to be non-tendered, anyway. He batted just .217/.284/.358 with nine homers and a .643 OPS in 114 games this season between the Pirates and Yankees.

Fri Oct 5 201218:50McGehee left off Yankees playoff roster
According to Andrew Marchand of ESPN New York, Casey McGehee was told that he will not be on the Yankees' playoff roster.
McGehee apparently took the news hard. The veteran infielder hit just .217/.284/.358 with nine homers and 41 RBI in 114 games between the Yankees and Pirates this season.

Wed Aug 1 201211:25McGehee starting at first base Wednesday
Casey McGehee will make his Yankees' debut at first base Wednesday against the Orioles.
McGehee was acquired from the Pirates on Tuesday for right-hander Chad Qualls. The Yankees are hopeful that Mark Teixeira (wrist) will be back within a few days, so McGehee figures to get most of his playing time at third base while Alex Rodriguez (hand) is on the mend. He's worth a look in AL-only leagues.

Sat Jul 14 201223:20McGehee has three hits, HR to lead Pirates
Casey McGehee had three hits, including a solo homer, leading the Pirates to a 6-3 victory over the Brewers on Saturday.
McGehee finished the night 3-for-5 with a run scored and pair of RBI. He lined an RBI single to center off Marco Estrada in the sixth inning to pull the Buccos to within one at 4-3, then added a valuable insurance run with his solo blast off Manny Parra in the eighth inning. Since the calendar flipped to June, McGehee has been a completely different player, hitting .310 (36-for-116) with seven homers and 25 RBI in 36 games.

Sun Jul 8 201215:57Casey McGehee exits with groin injury
Casey McGehee left Sunday's game with a mild left groin strain.
McGehee pulled up while beating out an infield single in the sixth inning, which was his third hit of the game. While it's good that it's considered mild, he still may not be ready for the start of the second half. He was replaced by Gorkys Hernandez.
