Fri Jun 18 201020:37Bergesen in line for start next Saturday
Brad Bergesen will likely return from Triple-A Norfolk to start against the Nationals next Saturday.
Bergesen started on Thursday night for Triple-A Norfolk and is scheduled to make his next start on three days rest in order to line him up for Saturday. His return would push Chris Tillman, who is currently in the O's bullpen, back to the minor leagues.

Sun Jun 13 201016:56Orioles ship Bergesen to Triple-A
Orioles optioned RHP Brad Bergesen to Triple-A Norfolk.
They did so in anticipation of Alfedo Simon's imminent activation from the disabled list. Bergesen was 7-5 with a 3.43 ERA last season, but struggled mightily in producing a 3-4 record and 6.66 ERA over 52 2/3 innings in 2010. He'll look to right the ship on the farm.
Sun Jun 6 201008:09Bergesen demoted to bullpen indefinitely
Brad Bergesen was available to pitch out of the Orioles' bullpen Saturday and interim manager Juan Samuel said that he did not know when Bergesen would return to the rotation.
Certainly some of Bergesen's availability is based on the fact that the Orioles' bullpen has been overworked lately, but his own poor performances are to blame as well. With the exception of three straight quality starts in May, Bergesen has struggled to keep opposing offenses from scoring, and lasted just 2 1/3 innings in his last outing. This could be a temporary assignment, as the Orioles can afford to skip his spot this time through the rotation, but with some solid options languishing in Triple-A, the Orioles may choose to call someone else up and keep Bergesen in the bullpen interminably.

Sat May 22 201019:27Bergesen takes no-decision vs. Nats
Brad Bergesen gave up a career-high six runs over five-plus innings as part of a no-decision against the Nationals on Saturday afternoon.
Bergesen had the lead until giving up a pair in the sixth. Mark Hendrickson allowed the go-ahead run to score. Bergesen matched a career-high by giving up 11 hits on Saturday and has allowed 21 hits over his last two starts combined. If that isn't enough to scare you away, consider that he has an awful 13/13 K/BB ratio over his first 41 1/3 innings this season.
Wed May 12 201023:06Bergesen impresses once again
Brad Bergesen was impressive for the second straight start on Wednesday night, this time taking a three-hitter into the eighth.
Bergesen ended up yielding one earned run on five hits in 7 2/3 innings. His stint in Triple-A has obviously paid off, as he's won all three of his starts since being recalled. He'll take a ton of confidence into next week's start against the Royals.
Fri May 7 201000:24Orioles' Bergesen combines on shutout
Brad Bergesen shut out the Twins for 6 2/3 innings to win Thursday.
Bergesen allowed six hits and walked a couple of batters, but he managed to spread them out. It was still pretty impressive that he went so long without allowing a run despite never recording a strikeouts or getting help from a double play. Bergesen has won both of his starts since returning from a brief minor league assignment, but given his 1.91 WHIP and the fact that he's fanned just six batters in 22 innings, we wouldn't suggest taking a chance on him.
Sat May 1 201009:25Bergesen recalled from Triple-A
Orioles recalled Brad Bergesen from Triple-A Norfolk.
Bergesen struggled in his first appearance in the majors this season, but perhaps the second stint will go better. He'll face the recently activated Daisuke Matsuzaka in his first start on Saturday.
Fri Apr 30 201015:28Orioles set to recall Bergesen
Brad Bergesen likely will be recalled to start Saturday against the Red Sox.
Bergesen has made just one start since being sent down, but it was a good one (2 R in 7 IP), so he's expected to be recalled from Triple-A Norfolk this weekend. AL-only leaguers should hold off on activating him.

Sun Apr 25 201021:46Bergesen optimistic a promotion is in offing
Brad Bergesen is optimistic that he could be recalled by the Orioles for a start on May 1 against Boston.
Bergesen was shipped to Triple-A Norfolk earlier this week after three starts yielded a 12.19 ERA, 2.61 WHIP and 5/6 K/BB ratio. With off days on the horizon, Baltimore felt they could do without him for awhile. If the O's feel as though he's worked out his kinks on the farm, he could be recalled at any time.

Tue Apr 20 201011:05O's option Bergesen to Triple-A Norfolk
Orioles optioned RHP Brad Bergesen to Triple-A Norfolk.
Bergesen looked lost on the mound during his first three starts and will leave behind a 12.19 ERA, 2.61 WHIP and 5/6 K/BB ratio. The O's are hoping some time at Norfolk will help him rediscover his command. Jason Berken has been great in the bullpen and is expected to serve as a rotational fill-in.
Tue Apr 20 201008:40Bergesen to be optioned to Triple-A Norfolk
Britt Ghiroli of MLB.com reports that the Orioles will option right-hander Brad Bergesen to Triple-A Norfolk on Tuesday.
Bergesen was shelled for seven runs in 2 2/3 innings Monday against the Mariners and now holds an ERA of 12.19 and a WHIP of 2.61 through three starts. He'll head down to the Triple-A level and work on whatever issues are plaguing him. Jason Berken is likely to step into Baltimore's rotation this week.

Tue Apr 20 201000:45Orioles' Bergesen struggles again
Brad Bergesen was a bust again Monday, giving up seven runs -- four earned -- in 2 2/3 innings against the Mariners.
The Orioles might have no choice but to send Bergesen back to Triple-A to have him work through his problems. He has a 12.19 ERA and a 2.61 WHIP after three starts. If Baltimore makes the move, then Jason Berken would be the obvious choice to step into the rotation. Berken, who made 24 starts last year, pitched 3 1/3 scoreless innings in relief of Bergesen tonight, and he's pretty well stretched out, having thrown 74 and 64 pitches in his last two appearances.
Fri Apr 9 201018:08Orioles' Bergesen gives up five runs
Brad Bergesen was removed after allowing five runs in four innings Friday against the Blue Jays.
Bergesen was able to bounce back somewhat after a three-run first, but the Orioles still decided to go to the bullpen in the fifth after he had thrown just 71 pitches. It was a disappointing outing from the sophomore, who impressed this spring after overcoming a minor shoulder injury. He'll have a tougher assignment next week against the Rays, making him a mediocre play in AL-only leagues.
