Wed Nov 7 201216:28Guthrie said to be seeking three years, $34M
Bob Dutton of the Kansas City Star hears that Jeremy Guthrie is seeking a three-year, $34 million deal.
It's quite a bit of money for a guy who was basically pushed off the Rockies' roster mid-season. But he did bounce back impressively with the Royals and it only takes one crazy owner to step forward. Guthrie, 33, registered a 3.16 ERA and 1.13 WHIP in 91 innings (14 starts) after joining up with Kansas City in late July.

Sat Oct 6 201215:35Royals could sign Guthrie before free agency
The Royals haven't ruled out re-signing Jeremy Guthrie before the start of free agency.
The Kansas City Star's Bob Dutton writes that the Royals are unwilling to consider anything beyond two years, but remain interested in retaining Guthrie, who posted a 3.16 ERA in 14 starts since coming over from Colorado. "There's always a chance (of working out a deal before the World Series)," GM Dayton Moore said. "These negotiations seem to go much smoother for everybody when you keep it between the two parties."

Wed Sep 26 201222:07Jeremy Guthrie has rare off-night vs. Tigers
Jeremy Guthrie allowed four runs on seven hits and two walks in seven innings of Wednesday's loss to the Tigers.
Guthrie struck out three and allowed two home runs, one a two-run shot off the bat of Alex Avila. The non-quality outing was his first in six starts. An impending free agent, Guthrie will bring a 3.18 ERA, 1.12 WHIP and 53/16 K/BB ratio through 85 American League innings into his 2012 finale against the Tigers on Monday.

Fri Sep 21 201200:44Jeremy Guthrie pitches well in no-decision
Jeremy Guthrie pitched well in a no-decision against the White Sox on Thursday, surrendering three runs (one earned) on eight hits over his six frames.
Guthrie walked just one while punching out four on the night. The White Sox got on the board with an RBI single from A.J. Pierzynski in the first, and pushed across a pair of unearned runs in the second inning. Through 12 starts as a member of the Royals, he's been extremely impressive, compiling a 4-3 record, 3.00 ERA and 1.10 WHIP. He'll look to extend that recent run of success when he does battle against the Tigers in Detroit on Tuesday.

Sat Sep 15 201221:46Guthrie stellar in no-decision vs. Angels
Jeremy Guthrie delivered a stellar performance in a no-decision against the Angels on Saturday, surrendering two runs on five hits over eight strong innings.
Guthrie walked only one and struck out two on the evening. Kendrys Morales blasted a solo homer in the fifth to get the Angels on the board, and they tacked on another run with Torii Hunter's RBI single in the eighth. He's done nice work as a member of the Royals' rotation, posting a 4-3 record, 3.13 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and 46/13 K/BB ratio through 72 innings. He'll look to keep the ball rolling when he takes on the Indians at home on Friday.

Wed Sep 5 201220:28Royals to wait to talk extension with Guthrie
Royals general manager Dayton Moore said the team will "probably" wait until after the season to explore an extension with pending free agent Jeremy Guthrie.
Guthrie was awful earlier this season with the Rockies and in his first two starts with the Royals. He's righted the ship since then, though, posting a 2.36 ERA since the beginning of August. The 33-year-old holds a pedestrian 4.33 ERA and 1.32 WHIP for his career, but he was a solid innings-eater from 2007-2011 and might have positioned himself to get more than a one-year deal with his late-season surge.

Sun Aug 26 201200:00Guthrie hammered in no-decision vs. Boston
Jeremy Guthrie was shelled for six earned runs in 2 2/3 innings Saturday in a no-decision in Boston.
The Royals wound up winning 10-9 in the 12th inning. Guthrie walked two and only struck out one batter, allowing seven hits and seven total runs on just 53 pitches. He carried a no-hitter into the seventh inning last time out against the White Sox but fell back to earth Saturday at Fenway Park. He has a 5.71 ERA on the season.

Sun Aug 19 201217:10Guthrie loses no-hit bid, takes no-decision
Jeremy Guthrie settled for a no-decision after throwing 6 2/3 no-hit innings in Sunday's 5-2 win over the White Sox, allowing two unearned runs on three hits in 7 2/3 frames.
The "hit" was an infield single off the bat of Paul Konerko, and came on a questionable scoring decision. Nevertheless, the quality start was Guthrie's fourth straight, while the seven-inning outing was his third straight. The dominant afternoon brings his Royals ERA and WHIP to 3.23 and 1.03, respectively, through 39 frames. He'll look to keep rolling against the Red Sox in Boston next weekend.

Tue Aug 14 201223:39Guthrie dominant again in victory over A's
Jeremy Guthrie was fantastic in Tuesday's victory over the Athletics, scattering three hits and a pair of walks over seven scoreless innings.
Guthrie racked up eight strikeouts in the impressive outing. After posting a 6.68 ERA over the first four months of the season, he's been a completely different pitcher in the month of August. Through his first three starts of the month, Guthrie is now 2-1 with a 1.29 ERA and 18/4 K/BB ratio over 21 innings. While he's unlikely to continue at this pace, he could be worth a look in deeper formats while he's sizzling. He'll look to continue his new-found dominance when he does battle against the White Sox at home on Friday.

Thu Aug 9 201200:16Jeremy Guthrie baffles White Sox in win
Jeremy Guthrie dominated the White Sox in Wednesday's 2-1 win, allowing just five hits in eight scoreless innings.
Guthrie struck out six and walked none in notching his first victory as a member of the Royals. He's now been quality in back-to-back starts, and is looking much better than he did for the Rockies. Getting out of the thin air can do wonders for a pitcher's prospects. Guthrie will get the A's at home on Tuesday.

Fri Aug 3 201223:55Guthrie has quality start in loss to Rangers
Jeremy Guthrie turned in a rare quality start in Friday's loss to the Rangers, allowing three runs on six hits over his six-plus frames.
Guthrie punched out four and walked two in the game. The Rangers scratched out single runs off him in the first and fourth innings. He then departed with a man on in the seventh, who eventually came around to score on Mitch Moreland's three-run bomb. He's now 3-12 on the season with a horrifying 6.56 ERA. He'll look to carry over the good from this outing when he battles the White Sox in Chicago on Wednesday.

Sat Jul 28 201200:49Jeremy Guthrie gives up six runs in loss
Jeremy Guthrie surrendered six runs in 5 1/3 innings Friday in a loss to the Mariners.
Getting out of Coors Field has yet to allow Guthrie to rediscover his mojo. He's 0-2 with a 9.58 ERA for the Royals. There's no playing him in AL-only leagues right now.

Sun Jul 22 201217:54Guthrie goes five rocky innings in KC debut
Jeremy Guthrie was shaky in his Royals debut Sunday, allowing five run on four hits and three walks in five innings of a 7-5 loss to the Twins.
He struck out four, and served up a solo home run to Ryan Doumit. A rocky start, but Guthrie should almost certainly be much better for the Royals than he was for the Rockies. He has a favorable matchup lined up for Friday, where he'll get the Mariners in Seattle.

Fri Jul 20 201216:26Guthrie to make Royals' debut on Sunday
Jeremy Guthrie will make his first start with the Royals on Sunday against the Twins.
Guthrie was acquired from the Rockies on Friday for left-hander Jonathan Sanchez. While the 33-year-old was ill-suited for the thin air in Colorado, he had a 3.67 ERA in eight starts and two relief appearances on the road. He's worth a look in AL-only leagues.

Fri Jul 20 201211:33Jeremy Guthrie lands in KC
Royals acquired RHP Jeremy Guthrie from the Rockies for LHP Jonathan Sanchez.
A flyball machine, Guthrie was always a poor fit in Colorado, and he ends his stint there with a 6.35 ERA and 1.69 WHIP over 19 games -- 15 starts. He's posted a 3.67 ERA in eight starts and two relief appearances on the road, though, and is actually a decent rebound candidate with the Royals. He'll presumably slide into their rotation.

Wed Jul 18 201218:40Jeremy Guthrie gets pulled in third inning
Jeremy Guthrie was pulled after allowing six runs -- four earned -- in 2 2/3 innings Wednesday in his start against the Pirates.
The Rockies really need to find a taker for Guthrie. After another ugly home outing today, he's allowed 46 runs and 14 homers in 41 2/3 innings at Coors Field. His road ERA is 3.67 in eight starts and two relief appearances, so he might be able to help another team.

Sat Jul 14 201223:28Guthrie knocked around in loss to Phillies
Jeremy Guthrie was knocked around in Saturday's loss to the Phillies, giving up four runs on seven hits in just 4 2/3 innings of work.
Guthrie punched out three while walking two. The Colorado rotation continues to disappoint, with Guthrie leading the charge. He now sits at 3-9 on the year with an atrocious 6.14 ERA through 88 innings. The right-hander will hope for better results when he takes on the Padres in San Diego on Friday.

Sun Jul 8 201216:53Jeremy Guthrie subdues Nats
Jeremy Guthrie took a no-decision in Sunday's 4-3 win over the Nationals, allowing two runs on six hits in six innings of work.
He struck out three and walked one. Guthrie has now been quality in each of his first two outings since rejoining the Rox rotation on July 4. Of course, both starts came away from Coors Field. Guthrie will enter the All-Star break the owner of a horrendous 6.05 ERA, 1.64 WHIP and 41/28 K/BB ratio through 83 1/3 innings. He needs a trade out of Colorado to return to fantasy relevancy.

Wed Jul 4 201222:58Jeremy Guthrie quality against Cardinals
Making his first start since June 17, Jeremy Guthrie held the Cardinals to two runs on six hits in six innings of Wednesday's loss.
Guthrie struck out two, walked one and threw 84 pitches in his final outing before the All-Star break. Presumably still on the trade block, it's not inconceivable tonight was Guthrie's final appearance in a Rockies uniform. Through 77 1/3 frames, he's now the owner of a 6.28 ERA, 1.68 WHIP and 38/27 K/BB ratio.
