Ely made one big mistake, and it wasn't a pitch. With runners on the corners and none out in the second, Jeff Francoeur hit an easy comebacker to Ely. The 23-year-old had two choices: he could have gone after David Wright, who was too far off third base, or he could have fired to second to start the double play. Ely chose the latter, but he hesitated too long and got just the one out. Wright scored on the play, and the Mets ended up with four runs in the inning. | ||||||
