Tue Apr 19 201119:33Braden to get further eval on shoulder Wed.
Dallas Braden will visit Dr. Lewis Yocum Wednesday to get a further evaluation on his stiff shoulder.
We should get a better idea at that point how long the left-hander might be out. Braden didn't seem optimistic about his condition the day after the injury, but that doesn't necessarily mean he has something significantly wrong. Stay tuned.

Mon Apr 18 201113:06Dallas Braden hits DL with shoulder stiffness
Athletics placed LHP Dallas Braden on the 15-day disabled list with a stiff left shoulder.
Braden made it through only five innings Saturday against the Tigers despite allowing only one unearned run and three hits. He told reporters after the start that he's never experienced the kind of discomfort that is bothering his throwing shoulder at the moment. There is no timetable yet for his return. Tyson Ross or Bobby Cramer could take over his rotation spot.

Sun Apr 17 201113:54Braden not optimistic he'll make next start
Dallas Braden (shoulder) is not optimistic about making his next start.
Braden admitted that he's never before had an issue with the shoulder like he's dealing with now. With an off day Monday, they could just push his next outing back, but when asked if he was hoping to make his next start, Braden shook his head no, which is obviously not a good sign. The left-hander will probably receive an MRI soon, and the disabled list seems likely. Tyson Ross would be the obvious candidate to take his spot in the rotation, though Bobby Cramer could also get some consideration.

Sun Apr 17 201100:36Athletics' Braden exits with stiff shoulder
Dallas Braden was limited to five innings Saturday by a stiff left shoulder, but he picked up a win after holding the Tigers to just an unearned run and three hits.
Braden struck out five and walked two before departing. He's already had one near miss as far as being scratched from a start this month, and it's possible he will end up on the disabled list this time. If that happens, Tyson Ross would be the favorite to take his rotation spot.

Mon Apr 11 201123:32Braden out-dueled by Buehrle, but still solid
Dallas Braden allowed just five hits and one run in six innings on Monday night, but would have to settle for a no-decision as the A's needed 10 innings to down the White Sox 2-1.
Braden actually got out-pitched by Mark Buehrle, who took a no-hitter into the sixth inning, but looked much improved from his first start, where he gave up 10 hits and five runs to the Blue Jays in seven innings of work. His next start is tentatively set for Saturday against the Tigers.

Dallas Braden was shelled for five earned runs in seven innings Wednesday against the Blue Jays.
Braden was nearly scratched from the start due to neck discomfort, and probably should have been in hindsight. He served up 10 hits and walked one while striking out only three. The right-hander will take a 6.43 ERA into his next scheduled outing against the White Sox.

Wed Apr 6 201112:24Braden to make scheduled start Wednesday
Buster Olney of ESPN.com reports that Dallas Braden will make his scheduled start Wednesday against the Blue Jays.
There was a report earlier in the day which suggested that Braden would be scratched due to a neck injury, but that apparently isn't the case. While the Athletics plan to recall Tyson Ross for Wednesday's game, he'll be replacing someone else on the roster.

Tue Apr 5 201117:41Braden pushed back to work on mechanics
Dallas Braden's season debut was pushed back to Wednesday in order for him to get some extra work on the side.
We assumed it wasn't injury related, since he was just pushed back one day. Brandon McCarthy will start against the Blue Jays on Tuesday night, instead.

Sun Mar 20 201119:12Braden finally turns in a decent outing
Dallas Braden scattered nine hits and one run over six innings against the Diamondbacks on Sunday.
He struck out two and walked none in what proved to be his best start of the spring. His poor spring isn't cause for concern, but Braden is highly unlikely to match the numbers he posted during his breakout 2010 campaign this season.

Mon Mar 14 201118:18Braden roughed by Cleveland
Dallas Braden got tattooed by the Indians on Monday, surrendering seven hits and six runs (four earned) in four innings.
He struck out three and walked one while watching his spring ERA balloon to 10.13. Counting the one minor-league start he made, Braden threw 48 1/3 more innings last season than he ever had before. It wouldn't be surprising if he lost a decent number of starts to the disabled list this year after dealing with a number of minor injuries in 2010.

Wed Mar 9 201117:23Braden struggles again
Dallas Braden was knocked around for five runs -- three earned -- on six hits and one walk over 2 2/3 innings Wednesday against the Rangers.
He struck out two. Braden has now given up nine runs -- seven earned -- over his last two spring outings covering 5 2/3 frames. The good news is that he held a 5.91 ERA last spring and went on to post a sparkling 3.50 ERA and 1.16 WHIP once the regular season hit.

Tue Jan 18 201113:23Braden, A's avoid arb. with one-year deal
Athletics and LHP Dallas Braden avoided arbitration Tuesday by agreeing to a one-year, $3.35 million contract.
Braden was eligible for arbitration this winter for the first time in his career and did quite well for himself. The lefty finished the 2010 season with a solid 3.50 overall ERA and 1.16 overall WHIP, and he should be able to at least come close to those numbers this year in Oakland.

Fri Oct 22 201022:23Braden files negligence suit
Dallas Braden has filed a negligence suit against orthopedic surgeon Dr. Thomas Peatman and the Webster Orthopedic Medical Group because of permanent nerve damage in his left foot related to an August 2009 procedure conducted by Peatman.
The suit claims, amongst other things, that Braden has had to pitch with two numb toes since the procedure and "experiences numbness and extreme and excessive pain while pitching." He's also saying the symptoms cause him to fatigue in the later innings of his starts. Braden was able to make 30 starts and post a 3.50 ERA and 1.16 WHIP despite evidently not being totally comfortable all season.

Fri Sep 24 201000:38Athletics' Braden combines on one-hitter
Dallas Braden allowed just one hit over eight scoreless innings Thursday to beat the Rangers for his 10th win.
Braden didn't get a chance to make a run at a second no-hitter this season, but Nelson Cruz's first-inning infield single was the Rangers' only hit of the game. Brad Ziegler finished up with a scoreless ninth. The win for Braden ends a streak of four straight losses. He finished with seven strikeouts, his high total since he fanned 10 Mariners on April 6.
Sat Sep 18 201015:57Braden takes loss vs. Twins
Dallas Braden gave up four runs over six innings in a loss to the Twins on Saturday afternoon.
Braden limited the Twins to just one run over the first five innings before giving up a go-ahead three-run homer to Danny Valencia in the bottom of the sixth inning. All told, he allowed eight hits while walking four and striking out a pair. Braden is 0-4 with a 6.23 ERA and a 12/11 K/BB ratio over his last four starts. He doesn't come as a recommended option against the Rangers next week.
Wed Sep 8 201001:27Athletics' Braden gives up six runs
Dallas Braden yielded six runs through five innings Tuesday in a loss to the Mariners.
Braden, who left his last start with heat-related cramps, was roughed up early by the league's worst offense, surrendering five runs on seven singles and a walk in the second inning. He also gave up a homer in the third. He rebounded to retire the final eight batters he faced, but the damage was done.
