Sat Jun 19 2010 | 09:30 | A's Braden bothered by elbow tendinitis |
Dallas Braden will not throw between starts as previously planned due to elbow tendinitis, according to the San Francisco Chronicle's John Shea. |
Braden was confident he'll make his next scheduled start, but his sore elbow has limited the number of off-speed pitches he can throw in a given start. Perhaps limiting the number of pitches thrown between starts will allow him to mix his pitches better than he did on Thursday. |

Thu Jun 17 2010 | 17:17 | Athletics' Braden sharp versus Cubs |
Dallas Braden allowed just a run over six innings Thursday in a no-decision against the Cubs. |
Braden was iffy to make the start because of inflammation in his left forearm, but he was awfully effective over the course of 83 pitches. He allowed five hits, walked one and struck out four. He was in line for the win when he left, but Michael Wuertz blew the lead in the eighth. |
Wed Jun 16 2010 | 18:18 | Braden to make scheduled start on Thursday |
Dallas Braden (forearm) is expected to make his scheduled start Thursday. |
Braden was skipped last week after an MRI showed inflammation and tendinitis in his left forearm. He is 4-6 with a 3.95 ERA, a 50/14 K/BB ratio and a 1.16 WHIP in 13 starts this season for Oakland. |

Fri Jun 11 2010 | 19:56 | Braden has inflammation in forearm |
Dallas Braden will have his next start pushed back after an MRI revealed inflammation and tendinitis in his left forearm. |
He was also diagnosed with epicondylitis, more commonly known as "tennis elbow." It doesn't sound like anything serious. Braden said he believes his next start will be pushed back from Tuesday to Thursday, but nothing has been confirmed as of yet. |

Fri Jun 11 2010 | 11:28 | Braden undergoes MRI on forearm |
Dallas Braden underwent an MRI on his left forearm on Thursday morning. |
After Wednesday's start, Braden told reporters that he had forearm tightness all week and felt that he could not finish his pitches properly. It's not known if he will be forced to miss his next start, but with the benefit of a scheduled off-day on Monday, the Athletics could elect to skip him in the rotation. Stay tuned. |

Thu Jun 10 2010 | 01:06 | Athletics' Braden takes sixth loss |
Dallas Braden dropped to 4-6 after allowing five runs -- four earned -- and 11 hits in 5 2/3 innings Wednesday versus the Angels. |
It's the third time this season he's allowed 11 hits in a start. Of course, they can't go taking the perfect game away from him like they did Armando Galarraga, but he hasn't won in six starts since. |

Tue May 25 2010 | 22:34 | Braden leaves due to sore ankle |
Dallas Braden left Tuesday's start against the Orioles due to a sore ankle. |
Braden apparently sprained his ankle while running some stairs in Texas two weeks ago and Athletics manager Bob Geren noticed him favoring it. "I'm pissed any time I have to come out," said Braden. "I don't ever want to come out, especially on Day 1 of a 10-game road trip." While he wasn't pleased, he also mentioned that he completely understands the decision to pull him from the game. He intends to make his next start this weekend against the Tigers. |

Tue May 25 2010 | 20:58 | Braden leaves after just four innings |
Dallas Braden left Tuesday's start against the Orioles after just four innings. |
No word on his status, but it's worth noting that he left a start last Wednesday due to the flu, so perhaps he was simply fatigued. Braden gave up only an unearned run on four hits while striking out four and walking two. |

Thu May 20 2010 | 14:59 | Braden still sick, but shouldn't miss time |
Atheltics manager Bob Geren says Dallas Braden is still "not well." |
Braden was pulled from Wednesday's game against the Tigers after six innings due to flu-like symptoms. He was told to stay home on Thursday and sleep as much as possible. The illness isn't expected to prevent him from making his next start. |

Dallas Braden left Wednesday's game due to the flu. |
Nevermind all that talk about a possible foot injury. Braden allowed two runs over six innings and should be fine for his next start. |

Sat May 15 2010 | 03:24 | Athletics' Braden goes distance in loss |
Dallas Braden went the distance Friday, but he gave up four runs in eight innings in a loss to the Angels. |
Braden's bid for a second no-hitter didn't escape the first, as Bobby Abreu doubled in the inning. He did take a shutout into the sixth, but he allowed four runs then. With no run support tonight, he fell to 4-3 on the season. |
Sun May 9 2010 | 18:36 | A's Braden throws perfect game versus Rays |
Dallas Braden threw a perfect game against the Rays on Sunday. |
And this makes Alex Rodriguez's comment about Braden getting his "15 minutes of fame" over their mound confrontation downright hilarious. Braden struck out six in the outing, with the final out coming on a grounder to shortstop off the bat of Gabe Kapler. Any perfect game is impressive, but doing it against a team that entered the day 22-8 makes it exponentially more memorable. The perfect game is the major's first since Mark Buehrle did it last July. |
Wed Apr 28 2010 | 23:29 | Braden knocked around by Rays |
Dallas Braden took his first loss of the season on Wednesday, yielding six earned runs over four-plus innings against the Rays. |
At least no one walked over Braden's mound. He struggled to miss bats once again tonight, striking out just one batter. With that kind of strikeout rate over his last four starts, we knew he was due to get lit up. We'd prefer to use him at home, where he'll be against the Rangers next time out. |
Thu Apr 22 2010 | 17:49 | Athletics' Braden beats Yanks, moves to 3-0 |
Dallas Braden moved to 3-0 after holding the Yankees to two runs in six innings on Thursday. |
Marcus Thames and Mark Teixeira homered off him, but those accounted for the only runs. Braden has given up four homers in his four starts, yet he has a 2.77 ERA anyway. Something is going to give soon. |
Sat Apr 17 2010 | 02:51 | Athletics' Braden improves to 2-0 |
Dallas Braden moved to 2-0 by holding the Orioles to two runs and three hits over seven innings on Friday. |
Braden has struck out just six batters in his last two starts after fanning 10 in his season debut, but he's still not giving up hits: just 12 in 20 innings for the year. Some credit should go to Oakland's first-rate defense, but luck is likely playing a part as well. |
Sun Apr 11 2010 | 19:30 | Athletics' Braden records win over Angels |
Following up a career-high 10 strikeout performance on Tuesday, Dallas Braden gave up three runs while striking out two batters in six innings of a win over the Angels on Sunday. |
Braden gave up just six baserunners and notched the victory, so anyone that jumped on the bandwagon after one start will be reasonably happy with the results. Still, the 10-strikeout performance was much more indicative of the Mariners' lineup than of Braden. He's still a quality pitcher, but Braden is unlikely to be anything more than a spot-starter in mixed leagues. |
Wed Apr 7 2010 | 01:18 | Athletics' Braden fans career-best 10 batters |
Dallas Braden struck out a career-high 10 batters while allowing one run in seven innings Tuesday against the Mariners. |
Braden's previous career high for strikeouts was seven, which he did five times. He fanned Chone Figgins, Milton Bradley and Jack Wilson twice apiece tonight. The only Mariners hitters he failed to K were Ichiro Suzuki and Franklin Gutierrez. Don't expect many more nights like this from Braden. He's turned into a fine pitcher, but he's not big a strikeout guy and he'll probably have trouble picking up victories for the A's, just as he did tonight. |
