Thu May 22 201412:15Taveras could 'possibly' be called up June 4
Cardinals GM John Mozeliak said Wednesday that Oscar Taveras could "possibly" be called up when the club begins a stretch in American League parks on June 4.
St. Louis will visit the Royals, Blue Jays, then Rays in a seven-game road trip from June 4-11. That means that the DH spot will be available, and the Cardinals could cycle Allen Craig and Matt Adams through that role while offering Taveras starts in right field. The 21-year-old top prospect is batting .390/.422/.585 over his last 10 games at Triple-A Memphis and has 85 total bases in 42 total games this season in the Pacific Coast League. He's worth stashing right now in standard fantasy formats.

Tue May 6 201408:33Cardinals OF prospect Taveras rips three hits
Cardinals outfield prospect Oscar Taveras bounced back from his first hitless game since April 12, going 3-for-6 on Monday with two doubles.
He is hitting .312/.364/.514 for the season, and it is only a matter of time before he forces his way onto the Cardinals roster and takes over in center field, displacing the Bourjos/Jay/Grichuk triumvirate. He is a "must own" for keeper and dynasty leagues, and should be stashed soon for redraft leagues.

Mon May 5 201418:59Mozeliak: Taveras needs more work in CF
Cardinals general manager John Mozeliak said Monday that outfield prospect Oscar Taveras is currently "average at best" in center field.
It's not surprising, as the feeling across the board has been that Taveras is more suited for a corner outfield spot. However, Mozeliak also noted that Taveras will continue to see plenty of time in center at Triple-A Memphis and could force his way onto the big league roster. Taveras is coming, but he just might not arrive as soon as hoped. It's still a good bet that we'll see him after the Super Two deadline passes in late May/early June.

Sat May 3 201410:39Cardinals prospect Taveras extends hit streak
Cardinals prospect outfielder Carlos Taveras went 1-for-4 with a walk in extending his hitting streak to 16 games on Friday night.

Taveras has all of the tools to contend for batting titles whole hitting 15-plus home runs on an annual basis. The Cardinals seem determined to prevent him from reaching Super 2 status, so he is unlikely to be promoted until June.

Tue Apr 29 201409:24Taveras extends hit streak with homer, double
Cardinals outfield prospect Oscar Taveras went 2-for-4 with a home run and a double on Monday, extending his hitting streak to 12 games.
His season line is up to .321/.367/.560 with five home runs and five doubles for the season. With the promotion of Randal Gruchuk, Taveras is unlikely to get called up before the Super 2 date passes in early June. He has been alternating between left field and center field for the past five games, but with Grichuk in St. Louis, Taveras could become the center fielder in Memphis until his promotion.

Mon Apr 28 201413:35Taveras extends hitting streak with home run
Cardinals prospect OF Oscar Taveras extended his hitting streak to 11 games Sunday, going 2-for-4 with a home run at Triple-A Memphis.
The home run was Taveras' fourth of the season, and he's now batting .313/.360/.513 with eight extra-base hits and 13 RBI in 21 games. During his current 11-game hitting streak, the 21-year-old outfielder is batting .342 with two home runs. The Cardinals just called up Randal Grichuk from Triple-A, but Taveras has seen increased playing time in center field lately, which suggests the organization is exploring ways to get his bat in the lineup sooner rather than later this season.

Cardinals outfield prospect Oscar Taveras went 2-for-5 while playing center field on Friday.
Taveras is 3-for-9 since he returned from rolling his ankle on Monday. He has shown no ill effects, so he could be up whenever the Cardinals feel it is time to ditch the Jon Jay/Peter Bourjos split. If Taveras is available in your fantasy league, now may be the time to stash him.

Oscar Taveras (ankle) is considered day-to-day.
Taveras rolled his left ankle while leaving the batter's box Monday at Triple-A Memphis and is not in the Redbirds' lineup on Tuesday night. But Cardinals general manager John Mozeliak -- who is in Memphis this week -- says the club is just being cautious with its top outfield prospect. Taveras missed most of the 2013 season due to right ankle issues. He should make his major league debut at some point this summer.

Tue Apr 22 201411:52Taveras leaves game with left ankle injury
Cardinals prospect outfielder Oscar Taveras left Monday's game with Triple-A Memphis due to an issue with his left ankle.
It's worth noting that Taveras had surgery on his right ankle last year, so at least he didn't aggravate the condition. No word yet on how long he'll be sidelined, but it's still a tough break considering the recent buzz about a potential call-up.

Mon Apr 21 201419:38Oscar Taveras getting first 2014 start in CF
Cardinals outfield prospect Oscar Taveras is making his first start of the season in center field for Triple-A Memphis Monday.
Taveras is hitting .297/.348/.500 with three homers and 12 RBI for Memphis this season, which includes a .368/.415/.526 line over his last 10 games. The Cards had been keeping the top prospect in the outfield corners, but it's clear that his surgically-repaired right ankle is feeling well enough for him to try center field again. With Peter Bourjos and Jon Jay sharing center field with the big club, Taveras could potentially force a promotion if he keeps hitting and shows he's comfortable in center.

Sun Apr 20 201410:59Cardinals OF prospect Taveras blasts homer
Cardinals outfield prospect Oscar Taveras hit his third home run of the season on Saturday for Triple-A Memphis.
Taveras is hitting .283/.328/.483 for the season, which includes hits in his previous six games while striking out zero times. He is not lighting up Triple-A, but he is hitting enough to make him the first call-up in the event there is a need in St. Louis.

Cardinals prospect outfielder Oscar Taveras hit a two-run home run in the first inning on Wednesday night.
Taveras is hitting .192/.250/.462 over the first seven games of the Triple-A season with two home runs and one double. He has also struck out six times so far this season, which would put him on a pace well above his current season high of 56 strikeouts. This could be a product of all of the time he missed due to injury, so keep an eye on his strikeout rate.

Tue Mar 25 201413:27Taveras tweaks leg in minors game
Cardinals prospect outfielder Oscar Taveras will held out of action for at least one day after he slipped coming out of the batter's box during a minor league game on Monday and appeared to be favoring his right leg.
Taveras had right ankle surgery last year and has been bothered by right hamstring tightness this spring, so the Cardinals don't want to take any chances. The 21-year-old has a world of talent, but he just needs to stay on the field.
