Wed Sep 21 201123:55Paulino fans eight in no-decision
Felipe Paulino allowed two runs on six hits and two walks in five innings on Wednesday, taking a no-decision in Knasas City's 6-3 loss to the Tigers.
Paulino struck out eight in just his second non-quality start in five outings. A pleasant surprise since coming over from the Rockies in late May, Paulino is the owner of a 4.17 ERA and 110/46 K/BB ratio in 118 2/3 innings of work as a Royal, and will get the Twins in Minnesota for his final start of the season on Tuesday.

Fri Sep 16 201123:45Paulino solid vs. White Sox
Felipe Paulino was solid in picking up a no-decision Friday, permitting three runs on seven hits and three walks over six innings in a 7-6 win over the White Sox.
He punched out three and was in line to pick up his fourth win before the bullpen coughed up the lead. Paulino has predictably faded after a terrific start with the Royals, but he's rebounded with three quality starts over his last four times out, including an 11-strikeout effort in his previous start. He'll try to improve his 4.12 Royals ERA next week likely in a rematch with Chicago.

Sun Sep 11 201101:04Felipe Paulino fans 11 in win for Royals
Felipe Paulino fanned 11 while holding the Mariners to two runs and two hits in seven innings in a win Saturday.
The Mariners' only two hits in the game were solo homers from Justin Smoak in the second and Mike Carp in the fourth. They combined to strikeout 16 times without ever working a walk against the combination of Paulino, Greg Holland and Joakim Soria. Paulino is starting to look like a keeper for the Royals, though the former Astro still needs to prove he can stay healthy.

Mon Sep 5 201119:21Paulino wild in no-decision vs. Athletics
Felipe Paulino was knocked around for six runs over 4 1/3 innings Monday as part of a no-decision against the Athletics.
Paulino hadn't started since August 26 due to back soreness and it's very possible he wasn't 100 percent. He walked a season-high six and threw two wild pitches. While the hard-throwing right-hander has a promising matchup against the Mariners this weekend, he has walked at least four batters in four out of his last five starts. We would look elsewhere for streaming options.

Sun Sep 4 201112:34Felipe Paulino expected to start Monday
Felipe Paulino (back) is expected to be ready to make his scheduled start Monday against the Athletics.
Paulino was scratched from his last outing due to back spasms, and there was concern that he might miss an additional start. But, he threw a bullpen session Saturday with no issues. Royals manager Ned Yost wanted to make sure the righty felt fine Sunday before officially clearing him for Monday. "He passed all of his tests (Saturday)," Yost said. "But we'll see how he feels (Sunday)." If Paulino should have a setback, Nate Adcock would get another spot start.

Mon Aug 15 201123:42Paulino roughed up by Yankees
Felipe Paulino turned in one of his worst starts of the season on Monday, allowing five runs on eight hits and five walks in 5 1/3 innings of Kansas City's loss to the Yankees.
He struck out four in falling to 1-9 on the season. Now the owner of a 3.76 ERA and 76/27 K/BB ratio through his first 83 2/3 innings in a Royals uniform, Paulino has another tough matchup lined up for Saturday, where he'll get the Red Sox at home.

Sat Aug 13 201110:56Felipe Paulino on track for Monday start
Felipe Paulino is good to go for Monday's start after leaving Wednesday's outing with tightness in his lower back.
We were wondering why Paulino left his last start after just five innings, and now we know why. Luckily, it appears at this point that his back is a non-issue.

Fri Aug 5 201123:43Paulino solid in no-decision
Felipe Paulino allowed three runs on six hits and two walks in 6 2/3 innings on Friday, getting stuck with a no-decision in the Royals' 4-3, 10-inning loss to Detroit.
He struck out seven for the third time in his past five starts. Through 84 innings of work this season, Paulino is now the owner of a 3.56 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and 84/26 K/BB ratio. Those are mixed-league numbers.

Sat Jul 30 201123:09Paulino pitches six shutout innings
Felipe Paulino allowed four hits and two walks across six shutout innings on Saturday, striking out four.
He left with a two run lead that was eventually blown in the bottom of the ninth by Joakim Soria. Paulio has an ugly 1-8 record, but he's pitched surprisingly well after joining the Royals in late May. You could do worse in AL-only leagues.

Felipe Paulino allowed four runs on seven hits and two walks in 5 2/3 innings on Sunday, falling to 1-4 in Kansas City's 5-0 setback against the Rays.
He struck out six while failing to complete at least six innings of work for the first time in six starts. Now the owner of a 3.86 ERA and 1.29 WHIP, Paulino will get the Indians in Cleveland on Friday.

Sun Jul 17 201117:28Paulino done in by the big blast
Felipe Paulino allowed four runs on seven hits in seven innings of work on Sunday, falling to 1-3 in Kansas City's 4-3 loss to the Twins.
Paulino struck out eight and walked just one in what was all-in-all a pretty solid start, but he was done in by allowing a three-run homer to Jim Thome in the sixth. Regardless, he's acquitted himself well since joining the Royals rotation in early June, and it's hard to see him losing his value in AL-only leagues.

Tue Jul 5 201123:30Paulino allows 3 runs in 6 innings, K's 9
Felipe Paulino gave up three runs in six innings, striking out nine, in a victory Tuesday against the White Sox.
He earned his first win of the season and turned in another start that will be difficult for AL-only owners to ignore. Since coming to Kansas City in late-May, he's posted a 3.38 ERA to go with a 45/12 K/BB rate. It's becoming more difficult to scoff at those numbers.

Wed Jun 29 201100:33Paulino gives up four runs in loss to Padres
Felipe Paulino gave up four runs -- three earned -- in seven innings Tuesday against the Padres.
Paulino struck out seven and only walked one batter, but he was far too hittable in the 118-pitch effort, allowing 11 hits. The righty has posted consistently good strikeout numbers since arriving in Kansas City, but he's not a fantasy option outside of very deep AL-only formats.

Thu Jun 23 201122:42Paulino allows nine hits in loss to Arizona
Felipe Paulino was torched for nine hits and five runs in eight innings Thursday against Arizona.
Paulino struck out eight and only walked one batter, but he was far too hittable at times in the 118-pitch effort. The righty has posted consistently good strikeout numbers since arriving in Kansas City, but he's simply not a fantasy option.

Sun Jun 12 201100:22Felipe Paulino gives up five runs to Angels
Felipe Paulino gave up five runs -- two earned -- in five innings Saturday against the Angels.
Chris Getz's error in the second led to two unearned runs and then Paulino's own error in the third helped with another. Paulino fanned five and walked one in the contest. He's allowed just three earned runs and posted a nice 16/4 K/BB ratio in 21 innings for the Royals. Still, he's a risky play in AL-only leagues.

Wed Jun 1 201119:07Felipe Paulino goes five scoreles for Royals
Felipe Paulino pitched five scoreless innings in his rotation debut for the Royals against the Angels on Wednesday.
The Rockies have to be so frustrated to see Paulino throwing 9 1/3 scoreless innings for the Royals after stinking it up in their pen for a month and a half. Paulino would be an awfully risky pickup in AL-only leagues, but he's always had upside. Maybe stash him away if you have a free spt.

Sat May 28 201117:22Felipe Paulino joins rotation
The Royals have moved recently acquired righty Felipe Paulino into their starting rotation.
He'll take the place of rookie Nate Adcock, who got shelled by the Rangers on Friday evening after throwing five scoreless innings against the Cardinals last weekend. Paulino was horrid for the Rockies this season, posting a 7.36 ERA and 2.05 WHIP in 14 2/3 innings out of the bullpen, but was acceptable in a starting role for the Astros in 2010. He's not currently worth a look in AL-only leagues, however.
