Sun Mar 24 2013 | 08:43 | Cedeno to start at SS, Greene won't make team |
Astros general manager Jeff Luhnow indicated Sunday that Ronny Cedeno will be the club's starting shortstop. |
Marwin Gonzalez will also see plenty of time at short, but it will be Cedeno that receives the bulk of the playing time. Tyler Greene will not make the Opening Day roster and the club will look to trade him since he's out of options. Cedeno was released by the Cardinals last week, but it didn't take him long to find a job and he lands in a spot where he'll see more playing time. |

Sat Mar 23 2013 | 18:43 | Ronny Cedeno, Astros close to deal |
Ronny Cedeno is close to signing with the Astros, according to Brian McTaggart of MLB.com. |
The 30-year-old middle infielder was cut by the Cardinals earlier this week but took little time to catch on with another team, it seems. He won't affect Jose Altuve's playing time at second base, but he may prove to be a more attractive option at shortstop than the Astros current options, Tyler Greene and Marwin Gonzalez. |

Fri Jan 25 2013 | 15:10 | Cardinals looking at Ronny Cedeno |
CBS Sports' Jon Heyman reports that the Cardinals are among the teams interested in Ronny Cedeno. |
It would be a pretty good landing spot from Cedeno's perspective, as the Cards have some uncertainty at second base and have an injury risk in Rafael Furcal at shortstop. Cedeno put up a decent .259/.332/.410 batting line over 78 games last season with the Mets but sports an uninspiring .247/.290/.357 slash over his career. |
