Thu Mar 13 2014 | 12:41 | Jason Giambi out 3-4 weeks with fractured rib |
Jason Giambi has been diagnosed with a non-displaced rib fracture and will be out 3-4 weeks. |
Giambi suffered the injury on March 7 when he was struck by an Edwin Jackson fastball. The Indians re-signed him to a minor league contract in October and are planning to use him as a part-time DH and power bench bat during the 2014 campaign. But a season-opening 15-day disabled list will likely come first. |

Jon Heyman of CBS Sports writes that Jason Giambi is expected to make the Indians assuming he's healthy. |

Wed Oct 9 2013 | 09:01 | Indians want Jason Giambi back in 2014 |
The Indians would love to have Jason Giambi back for the 2014 season. |
"We would like to continue our relationship with `G' probably as long as he would like to," said manager Terry Francona. Indians general manager Chris Antonetti shares Francona's sentiment and would like Giambi to stick around as a coach once his playing career is over. Giambi, who turns 43 in January, batted .183/.282/.371 with nine home runs and 31 RBI in 216 plate appearances this season and is highly-respected in the clubhouse. |

Sat Sep 28 2013 | 20:14 | Giambi day-to-day with forearm tightness |
Jason Giambi is day-to-day after tweaking his forearm in Saturday's game. |
Giambi left the game after the at-bat in the fifth inning, and he said afterwards that he's day-to-day. With the Indians likely needing a win on Sunday, it's too early to rule him out for the game. Indians manager Terry Francona will likely wait to see how Giambi feels on Sunday before making a decision. |

Tue Sep 24 2013 | 23:11 | Giambi wins it for Tribe with walk-off homer |
Jason Giambi delivered a pinch-hit, walk-off, two-run homer in the ninth inning Tuesday against the White Sox. |
It was shaping up to be a demoralizing loss for the Tribe after Chris Perez served up the game-tying and go-ahead homers in the top of the inning. Giambi bailed Perez out in the bottom of the frame, though, depositing a hanging slider from Addison Reed deep into the right field seats. Giambi is batting just .181/.280/.374 this season, but he's hit nine homers over 182 at-bats and has a pair of walk-off shots. |

Mon Jul 29 2013 | 23:12 | Jason Giambi hits walkoff homer for Tribe |
Jason Giambi became the oldest player ever to hit a walkoff homer, giving the Indians a 3-2 win over the White Sox on Monday. |
You may have heard of the previous record holder, a guy named Hank Aaron (credit to Elias for the factoid). It was the seventh homer of the season for the 42-year-old Giambi. All he's good for these days are homers and walks, but he's still collecting enough of both to earn a start or two per week for the Indians. Tonight's appearance came off the bench; he pinch-hit for Mark Reynolds with Ramon Troncoso on the mound. |

Fri Jun 7 2013 | 22:21 | Jason Giambi homers in loss to Tigers |
Jason Giambi blasted a solo homer off Jose Valverde as the Indians fell to the Tigers on Friday night in Detroit. |
Giambi finished the night 1-for-3 and also walked. He has struggled to make consistent contact thus far, but the impressive power certainly remains. Through 75 at-bats on the season, he's hitting .200/.287/.493 with six homers and 20 RBI. While he's useless in most fantasy formats, he provides the Indians with nice left-handed thump off the bench. |

Jason Giambi doubled and smashed a three-run homer in Wednesday's win over the Reds. |
Giambi's blast in the sixth inning extended the Tribe's lead to 5-1, and they winded up being the winning runs. He should have had four RBI on the day if not for a baserunning blunder by Nick Swisher. |

Wed Mar 6 2013 | 17:48 | Giambi drives in two in win over Dodgers |
Jason Giambi delivered a sacrifice fly and an RBI single in Wednesday's 4-0 win over the Dodgers. |
Giambi entered Wednesday's action hitless over his first 11 at-bats this spring. On the bright side, he also had three walks. The 42-year-old should provide some punch off the Indians' bench this season, but he likely won't get enough at-bats to even be relevant in most AL-only fantasy leagues. |

After the 2012 season, Giambi wasn't sure what direction his career path would take. He'll compete for a bench spot with the Indians, who are lacking in left-handed power threats. |

Giambi hit just .225/.372/.303 with one home run and eight RBI in 113 plate appearances with the Rockies in 2012. He could still be valuable as a source of left-handed power off the bench. |
