Fri May 30 2014 | 00:34 | SP Collmenter faces minimum 27 batters in CG |
Josh Collmenter scattered three hits in a complete game win over the Reds on Thursday in which he faced the minimum 27 batters. |
He struck out five and didn't walk a batter. Collmenter faced the minimum 27 batters after inducing three double plays to erase the trio of hits he gave up. Since 1914, there's been only 13 pitchers who have faced the minimum 27 batters while allowing at least three hits, with Collmenter the latest on the list. Roy Oswalt last pulled off the feat in 2008. Tonight's effort marked Collmenter's first career complete game and shutout. He needed only 94 pitches to pull off the trick, coaxing 13 ground balls from the Reds. Now 4-2 with a 3.34 ERA, Collmenter has a tough matchup coming up with a road date in Colorado next week. |

Sun May 18 2014 | 19:22 | Collmenter just good enough to get second win |
Josh Collmenter earned the win, allowing three runs over 5 1/3 innings as the Diamondbacks defeated the Dodgers 5-3 on Sunday. |
Collmenter made a couple of mistakes, issuing home runs to Adrian Gonzalez and Hanley Ramirez. Other than that, he carved through the Dodgers' lineup, allowing only four hits in total with two walks and three strikeouts. Collmenter will take his 4.02 ERA in search of his third win next weekend against the Mets on the road. |

Tue May 13 2014 | 00:49 | Collmenter hangs on long enough to earn win |
Josh Collmenter allowed four runs on four hits over five innings in a Monday no-decision against the Nationals. |
It wasn't pretty, but Collmenter was actually in line for the win before Addison Reed punted the game away in the ninth. Collmenter's struggles came courtesy of the long ball, as he served up a second inning Tyler Moore solo homer and then a fourth inning two-run Ian Desmond bomb to left. Collmenter's 3.89 ERA and 1.22 WHIP look fine enough, but he's allowed less than three earned runs in only two of six starts and has gone beyond six frames once. Collmenter will find himself across from Clayton Kershaw in Saturday evening's date with the Dodgers. |

Tue May 6 2014 | 23:53 | Collmenter allows five runs in no-decision |
Josh Collmenter allowed five runs -- but just one earned -- on eight hits over 5 2/3 innings in a no-decision against the Brewers on Tuesday. |
Collmenter should have been out of the first inning with only one run scored, but a throwing error by Chris Owings allowed a run to score and kept the inning alive. A single and a double later and the right-hander was staring at a 5-2 deficit. He did well to keep the Brewers off the board over the next 4 2/3 innings, but the damage was already done. A late Diamondbacks rally kept Collmenter from taking his third loss. He'll go against the Nationals on Monday. |

Thu May 1 2014 | 01:02 | Collmenter works 7 innings in ND vs. Colorado |
Josh Collmenter allowed four runs on seven hits over seven innings in a no-decision against the Rockies on Wednesday. |
He struck out two and walked a pair. Collmenter would have been fine if he'd avoided the long ball, but that's no easy proposition against the Rockies. One homer -- Carlos Gonzalez's two-run first inning dinger -- wasn't upsetting, but Jordan Lyles' solo shot in the third stung. Collmenter didn't join the rotation until April 14, but he's arguably been Arizona's best starter so far (insert your own joke here). That doesn't mean you should use him at Milwaukee on Tuesday. |

Sat Apr 26 2014 | 02:13 | Josh Collmenter records first victory |
Josh Collmenter notched his first win of the season with six innings of shutout ball against the Phillies on Friday. |
It was a close thing; the Diamondbacks pen nearly gave up a four-run lead, with Joe Thatcher, Randall Delgado and Addison Reed struggling. For Collmenter, it was his first win as a starter since 2012. He'll likely prove more useful to the Diamondbacks in relief than he will as a starter, but tonight's performance should ensure that he stays in the rotation for a couple of more weeks. He has a little NL-only value. |

Sun Apr 20 2014 | 20:27 | Collmenter derails in 6th inning vs. Dodgers |
Josh Collmenter allowed four runs, all in the sixth innings, over six innings in a loss to the Dodgers on Sunday. |
Collmenter threw five shutout innings before the four-run sixth marred the outing. It was two big hits in that inning -- a Carl Crawford triple and three-run homer by Yasiel Puig -- that did Collmenter in, and he finished with five hits and two walks allowed on the day. He should get better as he builds stamina. That process will continue Friday against the Phillies. |

Tue Apr 15 2014 | 00:58 | Collmenter struggles in return to rotation |
In his first start since 2012, Josh Collmenter surrendered three runs on five hits over four innings of a loss on Monday against the Mets. |
He whiffed three and walked one. Collmenter replaced Randall Delgado in the rotation, but he didn't fare much better than the struggling right-hander in this one. He threw only 73 pitches, but you can expect Kirk Gibson to ramp up his limit going forward. Collmenter gets the Dodgers in Los Angeles on Sunday. |

Sun Apr 13 2014 | 08:58 | Josh Collmenter to start on Monday |
Josh Collmenter will make his first start of the season on Monday against the Mets. |
He's replacing Randall Delgado, who will slide into Collmenter's vacated long relief role. All 49 of Collmenter's appearances last season came in relief, but he made 35 starts at the big league level from 2011-12. "It's not a big deal. The preparation is pretty much the exact same (as long relief out of the bullpen)," he said. "Anytime I go out there, usually I get to throw multiple innings. Now I just know the exact day I pitch. That's really the only thing that changes." |

According to the Arizona Republic's Nick Piecoro, the Diamondbacks are preparing Josh Collmenter to shift into the starting rotation. |

Diamondbacks and RHP Josh Collmenter avoided arbitration by agreeing to a two-year, $2.425 million contract, according to Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports. |
The deal also includes one club option and a mutual option that could bring the total amount of the deal to $6.5 million. The right-hander found his calling in long relief last season with the Diamondbacks, putting up a 3.13 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and 85/33 K/BB ratio over 92 innings. |

Wed Jun 19 2013 | 18:52 | Josh Collmenter goes six scoreless in relief |
Josh Collmenter allowed just one hit over six scoreless innings and struck out seven in relief of an injured Trevor Cahill against the Marlins on Wednesday. |
Collmenter missed out on a start Tuesday, as the Diamondbacks picked Randall Delgado instead. He got what essentially was a start today anyway and was outstanding, though he didn't get a win out of it. He's 3-0 with a 2.43 ERA in 40 2/3 innings out of the pen this season. |

Mon Jun 10 2013 | 21:23 | Josh Collmenter likely to get spot start |
Josh Collmenter is the most likely candidate to start for the Diamondbacks on June 18. |
The D'Backs demoted Tyler Skaggs on Monday, but because of an off day Thursday, they won't need a fifth starter until next Tuesday. In addition to Collmenter, Charles Brewer and Randall Delgado will also receive consideration. Collmenter boasts a 3.03 ERA and 1.16 WHIP with a strikeout per inning out of the bullpen this season. |

Tue May 21 2013 | 02:23 | Collmenter impressing with work out of 'pen |
Pitching exclusively out of the bullpen, Josh Collmenter is 1-0 with a 2.45 ERA and 0.95 WHIP over 22 innings. |
Last year's horrific April that cost him a rotation spot seems like a distant memory. Collmenter finished with a 2.13 ERA in 72 innings (seven starts, 17 relief appearances) over the final five months in 2012 and has carried that success into a new season. Of particular interest is his strikeout and K/BB rate, both improved over last year, which were both improvements over 2010's fifth-place-ROY-voting campaign. |

Sun Sep 30 2012 | 19:25 | Josh Collmenter solid in spot start |
Josh Collmenter surrendered one run in five innings Sunday in a no-decision versus the Cubs. |
Collmenter pitched well in both of his spot starts down the stretch here. After an awful April cost him his rotation spot, he ended up with a 2.13 ERA in 72 innings (seven starts, 17 relief appearances) over the final five months. While he never figured to duplicate his successful rookie season, he may have some staying power as a middle reliever/spot starter. |

Wed Sep 26 2012 | 01:09 | Collmenter solid in spot start vs. Giants |
Josh Collmenter did nice work in a spot start against the Giants on Tuesday, earning a victory by allowing just one run on two hits over his five frames. |
Collmenter struck out four on the evening while walking only two. He got word that he would be starting late in the day after Tyler Skaggs was scratched for undisclosed reasons, and performed admirably. He now owns a 5-3 record, 3.80 ERA and 78/22 K/BB ratio through 85 1/3 innings between the rotation and the bullpen this season. |

He'll make the start in place of Tyler Skaggs, who was scratched for undisclosed reasons. Collmenter has a 3.92 ERA and 74/20 K/BB ratio over 80 1/3 innings in nine starts and 17 relief appearances this year and could be worth using in NL-only leagues. |

It's his second throwing session since landing on the DL. The Diamondbacks aren't setting a timetable for his return, but Collmenter is hoping to be activated Friday when first eligible and seems to have a good shot at accomplishing that goal. |
