Mon May 3 201021:35Talbot takes loss vs. Blue Jays
Mitch Talbot yielded five runs over eight-plus innings in a loss to the Blue Jays on Monday night.
Talbot was knocked around for eight hits -- including three home runs -- while walking four and fanning five. He entered Monday's action having allowed just six runs over his first 36 innings (2.05 ERA), but with 22 walks in that time, he's been playing with fire all along. It was a nice ride, but with his inability to miss bats, he doesn't make for a great mixed league play.
Wed Apr 28 201001:32Indians' Talbot improves to 3-1
Mitch Talbot yielded one run in 6 1/3 innings Tuesday in a defeat of the Angels.
Talbot allowed six hits, walked three and struck out just one, but he was very effective once again. He's 3-1 with a 2.05 ERA, even though he's fanned all of seven batters in 26 1/3 innings. He'll be an intriguing play in mixed leagues next week as a two-start pitcher. He'll get the Blue Jays and Tigers at home.
Sat Apr 10 201016:17Talbot tagged for four runs by Tigers
Mitch Talbot was tagged for four runs over five innings in a 4-2 loss to the Tigers on Saturday afternoon.
Talbot was awful over the first three innings, giving up four runs, but settled down for two scoreless innings to finish his season debut. Still, he threw just 55 of 104 pitches for strikes and walked five. Quite simply, he needs to do better against the White Sox next week. If he continues to struggle, Aaron Laffey -- who is currently in the bullpen -- could take his spot in the rotation.
