Jacob Turner was pounded for six runs in one-third of an inning by the Cardinals on Thursday.
Turner walked three and gave up a grand slam to Oscar Taveras. The Marlins are counting on him to be a big part of their rotation after his nice finish last year (2.27 ERA in his final five starts), but at 21, he's still far from a finished product.

Tue Oct 2 201222:51Turner outstanding in no-decision vs. Mets
Jacob Turner was excellent in a no-decision against the Mets on Tuesday, allowing just one run on three hits over 7 2/3 innings.
Turner fanned four. He sailed through the first seven innings unharmed until David Wright delivered an RBI single in the eighth. The youngster finishes on an extremely high note, having posted a 2.27 ERA and 18/9 K/BB ratio over his final five starts. The 21-year-old right-hander will open the 2013 season in the Marlins' rotation and should be a popular sleeper in fantasy drafts.

Thu Sep 27 201221:59Turner hurt by defense in loss to Braves
Jacob Turner was hurt by poor defense behind him as he allowed four runs (two earned) on six hits over six innings in Thursday's loss to the Braves.
Turner racked up five strikeouts while walking three in the game. All four Braves runs were scored in the fourth inning, the final two on a miscue by Bryan Petersen in left field. Despite his 1-4 record, Turner has pitched well in his six starts with the Marlins, posting a 3.86 ERA, 1.06 WHIP and 25/7 K/BB ratio over 36 frames. He'll look to finish the season strong when he takes on the Mets at home on Tuesday.

Jacob Turner turned in an outstanding effort in Friday's victory over the Reds, scattering just two hits over seven shutout innings.

Jacob Turner got lit up in his second start as a member of the Marlins on Wednesday, allowing five runs on six hits and two home runs in just five innings of a loss.

Thu Aug 23 201209:31Jacob Turner to stay in Marlins' rotation
Jacob Turner will stay in the Marlins' rotation.
Turner allowed three runs in six innings Wednesday in a loss to the Diamondbacks, but Marlins manager Ozzie Guillen liked what he saw beyond the box score. The promising 21-year-old right-hander was acquired from the Tigers in July in a package for Anibal Sanchez. He could be a decent streaming option for NL-only fantasy owners.

Wed Aug 22 201218:44Jacob Turner gives up three runs in loss
Making his Marlins debut, Jacob Turner gave up three runs and four hits in six innings Wednesday in a loss to the Diamondbacks.
Turner was more in control than counterpart Tyler Skaggs, walking none and striking out five in the game, but the top two hitters in the Arizona lineup got to him twice. Gerardo Parra singled and Aaron Hill homered in the first and then Parra singled, stole second and was knocked in by Hill again in the third. Turner still may well have earned himself another start with the performance. Even if he's sent down now, he'll be back for a longer look in September.

Mon Aug 20 201219:42Jacob Turner will start a game Wednesday
Jacob Turner will be called up Wednesday to start the first game of the doubleheader against the Diamondbacks.
It will be his Marlins' debut, and it's possible he could stay in the rotation if he pitches well. Turner put up an 8.03 ERA in three starts for the Tigers but holds a 2.58 mark in 19 starts in the minors.

Fri Aug 17 201211:23Jacob Turner could start during doubleheader
Marlins manager Ozzie Guillen said Jacob Turner is under consideration to start one of the games of next Wednesday's doubleheader in Arizona.
He would be the obvious choice. Though Turner seems likely to be sent back down after the outing, he's expected to be back in September and could join the rotation on a permanent basis at this point. The 21-year-old has put up a 2.42 ERA in four start with Triple-A New Orleans since arriving in the Marlins' organization via the Anibal Sanchez trade.

Fri Aug 10 201220:26Jacob Turner likely to join Marlins soon
According the Marlins GM Mike Hill, both Jacob Turner and Rob Brantly will be called up "in the very near future."
Both players were acquired in the trade that sent Anibal Sanchez and Omar Infante to Detroit last month. Turner was the crown jewel of the trade, and has pitched well at Triple-A New Orleans, posting a 1-0 record, 2.65 ERA and 8/7 K/BB ratio over his first three stars. He'll be worth a look in deeper leagues once he does join the Marlins rotation.

Mon Jul 30 201219:57Jacob Turner could start Friday
Jacob Turner could make his Marlins' debut during Friday's doubleheader against the Nationals.
The Marlins wanted Turner to get his feet wet in the minors first, but he could be the 26th man on the roster later this week before being sent back down. Brad Hand is also under consideration for the start. Turner seems likely to be a regular part of the rotation later this season.

Mon Jul 23 201220:17Jacob Turner headed to Triple-A
Marlins assigned RHP Jacob Turner to Triple-A New Orleans.
The Marlins will let him get in a few starts in the minors before likely joining the big club later this summer. Turner put up an 8.03 ERA and 1.95 WHIP in three starts this year for the Tigers, so it won't hurt to get him a little more seasoning.

Mon Jul 23 201219:12Jacob Turner lands in Miami
Marlins acquired RHP Jacob Turner from the Tigers.
He's the headliner of the deal that sent Anibal Sanchez and Omar Infante to Detroit. Turner, 21, holds just an 8.03 ERA and 1.95 WHIP over three starts this season for the Tigers, but he's obviously under team control for many more years and should be a front-end of the rotation starter in Miami before long.

Sun Jul 22 201216:27Jacob Turner picks up first MLB victory
Jacob Turner came within two outs of a quality start in Sunday's 6-4 win over the White Sox, allowing three runs on seven hits in 5 1/3 innings of work.
Turner struck out three and walked none in picking up his first major-league victory. Turner has now held his own in two of his three 2012 starts, but still isn't a compelling fantasy option in deeper mixed leagues. His rotation spot is secure for the time being, however. He'll get the Blue Jays in Toronto next weekend.

Tue Jul 17 201222:28Turner obliterated in loss to Angels
Jacob Turner was obliterated in his second major league start, allowing seven runs on six hits in just two innings of work in Tuesday's loss to the Angels.
Turner also issued two free passes. The Angels jumped all over him in the first inning, with Mark Trumbo launching a three-run homer as part of a four-run frame. It didn't get any better in the second, as Mike Trout and Albert Pujols each left the park. Turner was expected to stay in Drew Smyly's spot in the rotation, pitching against the White Sox at home on Sunday, but after this disastrous outing that may be reconsidered. While he remains the top pitching prospect in the Tigers' system, it's clear that Turner needs more seasoning at Triple-A.

Tue Jul 17 201208:30Tigers recall RHP Turner from Triple-A
Tigers recalled RHP Jacob Turner from Triple-A Toledo.
Turner will take the rotation spot of Drew Smyly (intercostal strain) on Tuesday against the Angels. The 21-year-old tossed five-innings of one-run ball against the Cardinals last month and holds a 3.16 ERA and 40/24 K/BB ratio in 10 starts at the Triple-A level this year. He's worth a look in AL-only fantasy leagues.

Sat Jul 14 201216:55Jacob Turner expected to get Tuesday start
Jacob Turner is expected to start in place of the injured Drew Smyly on Tuesday against the Angels.
The 21-year-old prospect pitched fairly well in his first MLB start, allowing just one run on four hits and five walks over five innings of work. He's compiled a 4-2 record, 3.16 ERA and 40/24 K/BB ratio through 10 starts with Triple-A Toledo and is worthy of a look as a matchup play in deeper mixed fantasy leagues.

Thu Jun 21 201216:26Jacob Turner goes 5 innings in season debut
Jacob Turner gave the Tigers five innings of one-run ball against the Cardinals in his season debut Thursday.
Turner walked five (one intentional), so he wasn't able to go deep into this one. Still, he gave the Tigers what they needed, and the bullpen followed him up with five scoreless innings in what proved to be a 10-inning victory. It's unclear if he'll make another start.
