Sun Jul 25 201017:40Slowey brings O's offense to a halt in win
Kevin Slowey held the Orioles to one run in six innings on Sunday to pick up a victory.
Slowey had just one quality start in his last seven appearances, but the Orioles' offense came to the rescue today. The right-hander gave up five hits while striking out just two batters, but he also issued only one walk and pitched his way out of the jams he created. Even though he had struggled prior to today we'd recommend using Slowey with the Mariners due up next.
Tue Jul 20 201023:29Slowey shows slight improvement in loss
Kevin Slowey allowed three runs over 5 2/3 innings Tuesday in the loss to the Indians.
Progress is progress for a pitcher who has been bombed in five of his last six starts. This qualifies. Slowey struck out seven and walked just one while giving up six hits. It came apart in the sixth, with the score tied 1-1, when Slowey had two outs and a runner on first but loaded the bases and watched from the dugout as Jesse Crain allowed a two-run single. Slowey gets another putrid lineup next time out when he takes on the Orioles.
Fri Jul 16 201000:02Slowey has another rough outing Thursday
Kevin Slowey was blasted for five runs in three innings in the Twins' loss to the White Sox Thursday.
He didn't walk anyone but allowed nine hits. Slowey has now been brutal in five out of his last six starts, and if Nick Blackburn wasn't pitching even worse, his rotation spot might be in jeopardy. He'll try to bounce back against a weak Cleveland offense in his next turn.

Fri Jun 25 201021:57Slowey gives up five runs in loss to Mets
Kevin Slowey was tagged for five runs over six innings in a loss to the Mets on Friday night.
Slowey has allowed 17 runs over his last three starts, good enough for a 12.40 ERA. His ERA has hopped from 3.45 to 4.79 in the process. He'll look to turn things around against the Tigers next week.
Sat Jun 19 201020:18Slowey torched by Phillies
Kevin Slowey was torched for a season-high seven runs over just 1 1/3 innings in a no-decision against the Phillies on Saturday afternoon.
Just one day after Nick Blackburn also lasted exactly 1 2/3 innings. This was the shortest outing of Slowey's career and the most runs he has allowed in a start since June 8, 2008. He gave up seven hits -- including a solo home run to Wilson Valdez and a two-run blast to Ryan Howard -- before being chased from the game. His ERA hopped from 3.84 to 4.58 with the loss. He'll look to chip away at that number with a start against the Mets next week.
Tue Jun 8 201023:11Slowey allows 3 hits in 7 shutout innings
Kevin Slowey allowed only three hits and shut out the Royals over seven innings Tuesday night to improve to 7-3.
Slowey has been very good in 2010 and this was one of his best outings, even if it was against the hapless Royals. He displayed his typical stellar control, walking none, and struck out three. He's 7-3 with a 3.45 ERA.
Thu Jun 3 201000:49Twins' Slowey goes seven strong vs. Seattle
Kevin Slowey pitched seven innings of one-run ball in a no-decision versus the Mariners on Wednesday.
Slowey has been effective for the most part, but usually only for five innings or so. This is just the second time all year that he's made it through seven. He's 6-3 with a 3.84 ERA.
Fri May 28 201022:57Twins' Slowey solid in win over Rangers
Kevin Slowey held the Rangers to one earned run over 6 2/3 innings Friday as the Twins picked up a 2-1 victory.
Slowey was excellent against a relentless Rangers lineup, striking out five batters against one walk and improving his season-long record to 6-3. He's looked shaky at times this year, but his ERA continues to fall and now stands at 4.15. He will face the Mariners next week and is a must-start.
Tue Apr 20 201022:48Slowey K's 9 over 8 frames, dominates Indians
Kevin Slowey struck out nine over eight innings Tuesday night, allowing only one run in a 5-1 victory over the Indians.
He was superb outside of a Travis Hafner solo homer in the second inning. Slowey went 4-0 with a 1.95 ERA over the spring and has carried the success into this season, improving to 2-1 with a 2.45 ERA on Tuesday. The prosperity should continue this weekend against the Royals.
Fri Apr 9 201001:20Twins' Slowey just keeps on winning
Kevin Slowey beat the Angels by allowing one run 5 1/3 innings on Thursday night.
Following up his 4-0 spring, Slowey kept on rolling tonight, even though it wasn't a typical outing for him. He has a career 245/50 K/BB ratio in 317 2/3 innings as a major leaguer, yet tonight, he struck out just three and walked two. Fortunately, six of the seven hits off him were singles, while the other was a Howie Kendrick double.
