Mon Nov 8 201017:21Cameron to begin baseball activities in Nov.
Mike Cameron's agent told Gordon Edes of ESPNBoston.com that his client is on schedule to begin baseball activities after Thanksgiving.
Cameron underwent season-enidng surgery to repair a torn abdominal muscle in late August. "Mike's doing very well,'' Cameron's agent Mike Nicotera wrote in an e-mail Monday. "He is running, doing plyometrics and agility work and lifting. The plan was for him to be completely 'rehabbed' by Thanksgiving, and he is on schedule. From there, he will continue to work out normally to get ready for the season." Cameron, who turns 38 in January, batted .259/.328/.401 with four home runs and 15 RBI in just 48 games this past season. The veteran outfielder is owed $7.25 million in 2011 and could be a trade candidate if the Red Sox are able to add Jayson Werth or Carl Crawford this winter.

Sat Oct 9 201010:23Red Sox expect Cameron to be fully recovered
The Red Sox expect Mike Cameron to be fully recovered by spring training from his sports hernia.
Cameron had a very disappointing season playing only 48 games. Young Ryan Kalish took over his job for the end of the season and impressed playing 53. However despite those two facts Cameron and Kalish's numbers were almost identical across the board and Cameron might not have been fully healthy even when playing. The Sox will certainly let Kalish battle for a spot on the roster but is unlikely to have a more significant role than Cameron.

The transfer cleared a spot on the 40-man roster for pitcher Matt Fox, who was claimed from the Twins on Thursday. Cameron had season-ending surgery to fix an abdominal tear in late August after batting .259/.328/.401 with four homers over 162 at-bats. He should be fine for the start of the 2011 season.

Mike Cameron is scheduled to undergo season-ending surgery on his torn lower abdominal muscle this week.
The procedure will be performed by Dr. David Berger at Massachusetts General Hospital. "It's time to get it taken care of and then I can start rehabbing,'' said Cameron, who finished the 2010 season with a .259/.328/.401 batting line and four home runs in 162 at-bats. He will be back with the Red Sox in 2011, probably as the starting center fielder.

Wed Aug 18 201008:23Mike Cameron (abdomen) done for the season
Mike Cameron (abdomen) said that he does not expect to play again this season.
"We're in a position now where we need all of the healthy -- physically and mentally -- guys possible playing in the field," said Cameron. "Me trying to play 65 percent is probably not beneficial to the ballclub at the moment." Limited to just 48 games this seasons, Cameron said it makes sense to have surgery as soon as possible to repair his troublesome abdominal tear. He hopes to be ready in time for spring training next season. The 37-year-old outfielder is under contract for $7.25 million in 2011.

Sun Aug 1 201008:16Cameron sits out with lingering ab soreness
Mike Cameron sat out Saturday's game due to lingering abdominal soreness.
Cameron suffered through a rough game Friday in which he missed a catchable ball in center, grounded into a double play, and struck out three times. The outfielder admitted Saturday before the game that he was sore, and manager Terry Francona felt it would be best to sit him out. Cameron has been dealing with abdominal pain off and on for a while now, and it might just be something he's going to have to play through. Consider him day-to-day for now.

Tue Jul 27 201008:46Cameron still feeling abdominal discomfort
Mike Cameron acknowledged Monday that he is still dealing with some lingering discomfort in his abdomen.
The center fielder has battled an abdomen injury for much of the season and felt it again Monday while diving into first base. "Sometimes, as the games goes on, it gets just a little cranky," Cameron said. "It probably didn't help that I was diving back a lot." He told MLB.com that he expects to play through the pain, but his bat has not been worthy of fantasy ownership anyway.

The outfielder was hit by a Brandon Morrow fastball Saturday. "He's fine he's just sore," manager Terry Francona said. "He got whacked on it pretty good. It's in tact, and it's just sore. He got hit by 90-mile-an hour fastball and it hurt. We checked in on him this morning and he just got a pretty good bruise there." It sounds like Cameron should be fine after the break.
