Yankees signed C Bobby Wilson to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.
Wilson, a .208/.272/.321 career hitter, was non-tendered by Toronto at the end of November. The 29-year-old seems doubtful to crack New York's Opening Day roster.

Sat Dec 1 201200:07Blue Jays non-tender C Wilson
Blue Jays non-tendered C Bobby Wilson.
Wilson was claimed off waivers from the Angels in October, but he was made expendable after the club acquired John Buck as part of a blockbuster trade with the Marlins. The 29-year-old backstop is a .208/.272/.321 career hitter in the majors and may have to settle for a minor league deal.

Sun Jul 22 201223:44Bobby Wilson hits first homer for Angels
Bobby Wilson went 3-for-4 and hit his first homer since last August in Sunday's defeat of the Rangers.
Wilson had gone 124 at-bats without a homer this season before taking Matt Harrison deep in the seventh inning tonight. The big game will help his cause for sticking around once Chris Iannetta returns next month. He entered with an awful .197/.267/.221 line.

Mon Jun 18 201218:37Angels activate C Wilson from 15-day DL
Angels activated C Bobby Wilson from the 15-day disabled list.
Hank Conger was sent down Sunday in a corresponding roster move. Wilson has been sidelined since suffering a concussion when he was hit in the mask by a foul tip on June 4. The 29-year-old backstop returns to a .171/.232/.171 batting line over 86 plate appearances.

Fri May 11 201213:59Bobby Wilson slated to fill in for Iannetta
Alden Gonzalez of MLB.com reports that the Angels will not look outside the organization at this point to replace Chris Iannetta (wrist).
Bobby Wilson is expected to receive the bulk of the playing time while Iannetta is on the shelf for 6-8 weeks following wrist surgery, with John Hester backing him up. Given Wilson's .208/.271/.331 career batting line, he doesn't inspire much confidence. We wouldn't be surprised if the Halos change their mind and look for help elsewhere eventually. Then again, Mike Scioscia put up with Jeff Mathis' lackluster hitting for years, so maybe not.

Tue May 17 201103:31Wilson a pleasant surprise in rare start
In the starting lineup for only the third time all year, Bobby Wilson finished 2-for-4 in the Angels' Monday night loss to the Athletics.
Wilson had not started a game since April 10th, as Jeff Mathis and Hank Conger essentially have been splitting catcher duties. Wilson had a fairly successful minor league career and proved last year that he could hold his own against Mathis. However, as long as all three remain on the active roster, Wilson is not expected to make a significant impact going forward.

Mon Mar 21 201118:24Wilson (illness) returns to Angels' camp
Bobby Wilson was back in camp Monday after being sent home due to illness on Sunday.
Wilson is scheduled to catch Dan Haren in a minor league game Tuesday against the Cubs. Both Wilson and Jeff Mathis are having good springs with the bat, so look for Hank Conger to begin the season in the minors.

Mon Feb 14 201115:32Wilson loses 33 pounds during offseason
Bobby Wilson hired a nutritionist over the offseason and reported to camp 33 pounds lighter than last season.
Wilson said he was motivated by the chance for more playing time this season. "I just stopped eating (junk)," said Wilson. "I dropped 10 or 12 pounds in the first week and then it was pretty steady two or three pounds a week every week after that. I feel great. It's very exciting actually. Everything fits now." The good news for Wilson is that Mike Napoli was traded this winter, but he'll still have to compete with Jeff Mathis and Hank Conger for playing time. He batted just .229/.288/.417 with four homers and 15 RBI over 96 at-bats last season and is unlikely to have much fantasy value.

Sun Aug 15 201002:09Angels' Wilson homers twice
Bobby Wilson homered twice and drove in a career-high five runs Saturday against the Blue Jays.
Jeff Mathis has been a colossal mess offensively, so Wilson is getting the occasional start when Mike Napoli plays first base. It's probably time for the Angels to start using him over Mathis regularly. The 27-year-old isn't anything special with the bat himself, but he does have some pop and he's a perfectly solid defensive catcher. He might be worth a look in AL-only leagues.
Mon May 17 201008:43Angels activate Bobby Wilson from 15-day DL
Angels activated C Bobby Wilson from the 15-day disabled list.
Wilson was placed on the disabled list back on April 24 with a concussion and ankle injury. Now healthy, he will resume a backup role with the Angels until Jeff Mathis returns in about a month. Wilson was 0-for-2 before the injury with a strikeout and isn't worth using in fantasy leagues.
Sun May 16 201008:57Angels' Wilson close to return from rehab
Bobby Wilson (ankle, concussion) is close to returning to the Angels as he rehabs from the injuries he sustained in a collision at home plate with Mark Teixeira.
Wilson will play one more game with Class-A Rancho Cucamonga as the designated hitter and then be reevaluated. He's eligible to return whenever the Angels are ready for him, so he could join the team as soon as the beginning of next week. Mike Napoli has been the Angels' primary catcher of late with Ryan Budde spelling him if needed, so it's not yet clear what role Wilson will have when activated.

Sat May 15 201023:07Wilson goes 3-for-3 with homer in rehab game
Bobby Wilson (ankle, concussion) went 3-for-3 with a home run in a rehab game Saturday for Triple-A Salt Lake.
"We got some video, and he was throwing the ball very well," Angels manager Mike Scioscia said before Saturday's game against the A's. "His ankle is fine. He's going to catch tonight and DH tomorrow. Then we'll evaluate where he is." Wilson could return to the Angels early next week.

Mon May 10 201023:44Angels' Wilson to begin rehab this week
Bobby Wilson (ankle, concussion) expects to begin a minor league rehab assignment with Class-A Rancho Cucamonga on Tuesday or Wednesday.
Wilson suffered a concussion and a left ankle strain in a scary collision with Mark Teixeira on April 23. He went through a full workout before Monday night's game against the Rays. "I blocked the plate, I threw, I bunted, I ran the bases, did agility drills and hit," said Wilson. "I got Camp Scioscia out of the way." He will likely replace Ryan Budde on the roster once he's ready to go.

Mon May 3 201019:49Angels' Wilson cleared for return
After visiting with a neuropsychologist, Bobby Wilson (ankle, concussion) has been cleared to return to the field.
Wilson was placed on the disabled list on April 24 after a nasty collision with Yankees' first baseman Mark Teixeira, but could head out on a rehab assignment soon. "I've been playing catch and backed it up to long toss," Wilson said. "Hopefully, I'll catch a bullpen Wednesday and this weekend, if everything keeps going well, I'll be rehabbing somewhere in a game."

Sat Apr 24 201017:45Wilson to undergo MRI on ankle on Monday
Bobby Wilson (ankle) is scheduled to undergo an MRI Monday.
Wilson was plowed over by Mark Teixeira on a collision at home plate Friday. X-rays Saturday were inconclusive because the swelling in his ankle was still too severe. He was placed on the disabled list and is likely to miss a large chunk of time if the injury is as bad as it sounds.

Sat Apr 24 201014:29Wilson placed on the disabled list
Angels placed C Bobby Wilson on the disabled list with a concussion and ankle injury.
The severity of his ankle injury is yet unknown, but the concussion alone was enough to put him on the disabled list. Amazing how quickly the Angels went from having too many catchers and not enough playing time to really feeling thin at the position. If he doesn't suffer post-concussion syndrome he could be back in the minimum 15-days, but until the ankle injury is better defined, a definite timetable remains vague.
Fri Apr 23 201023:24Wilson has ankle injury and concussion
Bobby Wilson was diagnosed with a left ankle injury and a concussion.
Did we mention this was his first major league start? Wilson suffered the injuries in a pretty nasty collision with Mark Teixeira while attempting to block home plate. He's almost certainly headed for the disabled list.

Fri Apr 23 201023:08Angels' Wilson exits after collision
Bobby Wilson exited Friday's game against the Yankees after colliding with Mark Teixeira while trying to block home plate.
Teixeira barreled over Wilson, who appeared to suffer an injury to his left leg. So much for the Angels' catching depth. Ryan Budde, the only other catcher on the 40-man roster, is a possibility to be called up from Triple-A Salt Lake if Wilson requires a DL-stint.
