Josh Johnson won't throw for two weeks after Dr. James Andrews confirmed the diagnosis of a right forearm strain. |
This matches the initial diagnosis from the team. While Johnson has avoided the worst-case scenario, it's very possible that he is done for the season. |

Fri Aug 16 2013 | 11:14 | Josh Johnson to throw once pain goes away |
Josh Johnson will be cleared to throw from a mound as soon as the discomfort in his right forearm goes away. |
That's assuming Dr. James Andrews concurs with the initial opinion that Johnson is dealing with a strained forearm and nothing related to the elbow. While the MRI results were encouraging, it's still possible Johnson won't return this season. |

Thu Aug 15 2013 | 17:16 | MRI confirms forearm strain for Josh Johnson |
An MRI confirmed that Josh Johnson is dealing with a strained right forearm. |
The results have been sent to Dr. James Andrews for a second opinion. Johnson was placed on the 15-day disabled list Tuesday and could miss the rest of the season. Esmil Rogers has replaced him in the Blue Jays' starting rotation. |

Tue Aug 13 2013 | 18:11 | Josh Johnson to undergo MRI on forearm |
Josh Johnson will undergo an MRI on his ailing right forearm late Tuesday or Wednesday. |
Johnson believes his issue is muscular and not related to his elbow. That would certainly be good news, but with just seven weeks left in the season, he might have a tough time making it back even if he gets good news. |

Blue Jays placed RHP Josh Johnson on the 15-day disabled list with a right forearm injury. |
Johnson was scratched from his scheduled turn in the Blue Jays' starting rotation on Monday and reported no improvement in his throwing arm on Tuesday. It has been a disastrous season for the impending free agent. |

Sat Aug 10 2013 | 09:17 | Josh Johnson clears waivers |
CBS Sports' Jon Heyman reports that Josh Johnson has cleared waivers. |
It's strictly a procedural move, but he's now eligible to be traded to to any team. Johnson has a 6.20 ERA and 1.66 WHIP over 16 starts this season and is unlikely to attract any interest. |

Wed Aug 7 2013 | 01:31 | Johnson fires five shutout innings in victory |
Josh Johnson twirled five shutout innings in a victory Tuesday against the Mariners. |
The win was Johnson's second of the season, and his first since June 23. Entering the game, he had lost six consecutive starts and allowed five earned runs or more in four straight outings. We would caution against undo optimism over this start. The right-hander lasted only five innings in Safeco Field, one of baseball's most amenable venues to pitchers, and entered the game having posted a 8.84 ERA over his last eight starts. |

Sat Aug 3 2013 | 09:39 | Josh Johnson could have next start skipped |
Josh Johnson could have his next start skipped to give him more time to work through his problems in bullpen sessions. |
Johnson has been pitching through knee tendinitis and is posting a 8.84 ERA over his last eight starts, so the Blue Jays could skip his next turn in the rotation to get him back on track. "Ideally you don't want to do that, but we have to get something done," manager John Gibbons said. "We have to get Josh straightened out somehow." |

Fri Aug 2 2013 | 01:07 | Josh Johnson knocked around in loss to Angels |
Josh Johnson was hammered for seven runs (six earned) over 2 1/3 innings Thursday in a loss to the Angels. |
Ouch. Johnson gave up 10 hits and two walks while striking out just one batter. He has struggled to the tune of an 8.84 ERA over his last eight starts and has allowed five earned runs or more in each of his last four trips to the mound. Blue Jays manager John Farrell recently said that Johnson has been bothered by knee tendinitis this season, but believes that he can pitch through it. However, we've seen just about enough from a fantasy perspective. |

Tue Jul 30 2013 | 21:12 | Gibbons: Johnson has suffered from tendinitis |
Josh Johnson has suffered from knee tendinitis this season, according to manager John Gibbons. |
"Nothing major that you can't perform," Gibbons said, "but when you land on it you get that little stinger." Johnson has a miserable 6.08 ERA through 14 starts. His velocity hasn't been a problem and he's still missing bats, but Johnson has consistently been hit hard. A period of rest wouldn't be a bad idea, but Toronto figures to keep sending him out every fifth day. |

Sat Jul 27 2013 | 16:16 | Josh Johnson hit hard in loss to the Astros |
Josh Johnson struggled once again Saturday, surrendering seven runs over 5 2/3 innings in a loss to the Astros. |
Ouch. Johnson gave up seven hits, including three home runs, bringing his total to 14 allowed in just 73 1/3 innings this season. The 29-year-old now has a miserable 6.08 ERA through 14 starts. His velocity is fine and he's still missing bats -- he had eight strikeouts this afternoon -- but opposing batters aren't having an issue squaring him up. He can't be trusted in fantasy leagues. |

Mon Jul 22 2013 | 23:07 | Josh Johnson pulled in third in loss |
Josh Johnson was pulled after giving up five runs in two-plus innings Monday in a loss to the Dodgers. |
Johnson retired the first four hitters he faced tonight. He then allowed seven hits, walked a batter and hit another while getting just three more outs. The Jays would seem to be pretty much out of the race after their poor start to the second half, so maybe they should consider trading Johnson. Of course, they're not likely to get much for him. He's turned in just one quality start in his last six outings, and he's now 1-6 with a 5.66 ERA for the season. |

Wed Jul 17 2013 | 14:28 | Blue Jays not planning to trade Josh Johnson |
Jeff Passan of Yahoo! Sports was told by two executives that the Blue Jays are telling teams they don't have plans to trade Josh Johnson. |
With a 5.16 ERA over 12 starts, Johnson's trade value is minimal at the moment. With that in mind, one AL GM said the Blue Jays have considered keeping the impending free agent in order to make him a qualifying offer this offseason. There's always the chance that he could accept what would likely be a one-year deal around $15 million, but if he declines and signs elsewhere, the Blue Jays would receive draft pick compensation next year. |

Josh Johnson was hammered for seven runs on seven hits over six innings in a loss to the Orioles on Sunday. |
Johnson struck out seven, walked one and gave up two homers. A disappointing end to a rough first half for the winter acquisition, who is now 1-5 with a 5.16 ERA and 1.49 WHIP. Prior to this afternoon, Johnson had pitched well since his disabled list activation in early June. Fantasy owners will have to cross their fingers that the veteran can get it together in the second half. |

Tue Jul 9 2013 | 22:04 | Josh Johnson takes tough loss against Indians |
Josh Johnson allowed two runs on three hits over seven innings but took the loss against the Indians on Tuesday. |
Johnson deserved better, as he allowed just the three hits and two walks while striking out six on the night. Alas, he dropped to 1-4 in 11 starts this season. His final start of the first half will come Sunday against the Orioles in Baltimore. |

Wed Jul 3 2013 | 22:35 | Josh Johnson lasts only five innings |
Josh Johnson permitted six runs -- one earned -- on seven hits and two walks over just five innings in Wednesday's loss to the Tigers. |
Johnson's defense really let him down in the second inning in particular, as Emilio Bonifacio let a sure double play ball go through his legs prior to four runs crossing the plate. Still, it's not as if Johnson pitched effectively. The righty has now allowed 15 runs -- 10 earned -- over his last three starts. He'll try to rebound in Cleveland next week. |

Fri Jun 28 2013 | 23:09 | Johnson gives up five runs vs. red Sox |
Josh Johnson was chased for five runs in 3 1/3 innings Friday in a no-decision against the Red Sox. |
Johnson needed 91 pitches just to get 10 outs. He really labored, giving up eight hits and two walks. While Johnson appeared poised for a big season following an impressive spring, he now has a 5.21 ERA through nine starts. He'll look to bounce back next week in a tough matchup against the Tigers at home. |

Josh Johnson won his first game as a Blue Jay Sunday, allowing four runs over six frames in a 13-5 victory over the Orioles. |
Johnson gave up seven hits, walked one and struck out five. He had only thrown 89 pitches, but manager John Gibbson decided to give him the hook after he yielded a single and a homer to start off the seventh. Johnson now holds a 2.84 ERA in four starts since returning from the disabled list and should be in your lineup despite a tough matchup in Boston on Friday. |

Mon Jun 17 2013 | 22:05 | Josh Johnson strikes out 10 Rockies |
After having his start pushed back by a blister, Josh Johnson struck out 10 over 7 1/3 scoreless innings against the Rockies on Monday. |
It was Johnson's seventh career 10-strikeout game, but the other six all came back in 2009 and 2010. His season high this year was eight. Johnson didn't hang on long enough to get a win tonight, as the Jays didn't score until the bottom of the eighth, but he'll certainly start winning some games if he keeps pitching like this. He has a 1.86 ERA in three starts since coming off the DL. |
