Carroll was slowed in camp by an oblique injury and was unable to crack the Marlins' Opening Day roster. He's done well in a handful of rehab appearances, though, and will rejoin the big club as a utilityman. |

The Marlins haven't decided whether Carroll will rejoin the Marlins once healthy or head to Triple-A New Orleans. "When he's ready, he's got options," manager Fredi Gonzalez said. "It depends on what we need here." Carroll hit .234/.306/.383 last year in 141 at-bats for the Fish. |

Carroll was placed on the disabled list just before the start of the regular season with a strained left oblique. The Marlins are hoping he'll be ready to serve as a utilityman in the big leagues by the middle of this month. |
