Wang allowed three hits and two walks with one strikeout over 4.2 scoreless innings in the Braves' split-squad loss to the Cardinals on Saturday. "He's got that sinker going and he's changing speeds on his breaking stuff," manager Fredi Gonzalez told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution afterward. "He did a nice job. Five innings of shutout baseball. We mad some nice plays behind him -- (Jace) Peterson made some nice plays -- but Wang has been impressive, he really has." |
Wang had a hiccup last week, giving up three runs while recording just one out against Houston, but he's spun a combined 9.2 scoreless frames in his other three spring outings. Gonzalez said Friday that Wandy Rodriguez has essentially secure a rotation spot, meaning there is just one spot left between Wang, Eric Stults, Mike Foltynewicz, Manny Banuelos and Cody Martin. An important caveat to remember here is that Stults can opt out of his deal if not on the roster by Opening Day, while Wang can't opt out until July. |

Wang signed a minor league contract with the Braves on Monday that includes an invite to spring training, Mark Bowman of MLB.com reports. |
Wang didn't make an appearance in the majors last season, pitching with two different Triple-A clubs but finishing the season in the White Sox organization. He isn't a strong candidate to make the Braves' roster out of spring training, but a strong performance could give him a chance. |

White Sox signed RHP Chien-Ming Wang to a minor league contract; assigned him to Triple-A Charlotte. |
Wang opted out of his minor league contract with the Reds on July 13 after posting a 3.70 ERA in 119 1/3 innings at Triple-A Louisville. The 34-year-old right-hander could get a look at some point in Chicago. |

RHP Chien Ming Wang opted out of his contract with the Reds. |
That now makes the 34-year-old right-hander a free agent. He was pitching decently at Triple-A Louisville, compiling a 3.70 ERA, 1.46 WHIP and 50/45 K/BB ratio over 119 1/3 innings. He should be able to secure a minor league deal elsewhere. |

Reds reassigned RHP Chien-Ming Wang, RHP Drew Hayes, LHP Lee Hyde, and INF Argenis Diaz to minor league camp. |
None of these cuts were surprising. Wang had one bad outing and two decent outings this spring in the Cactus League. He'll be an emergency starter for the Reds. |

Chien-Ming Wang struggled in Thursday's outing against the Giants, allowing three runs (two earned) in three innings. |
Wang's big league career is on life support after posting an aggregate 5.55 ERA in 121 2/3 innings since the start of 2011. He'll start the year in Triple-A and provide the Reds rotation insurance. Wang's ability to miss bats has been greatly diminished and isn't likely to be recovered. |

Sat Feb 15 2014 | 00:14 | Wang's deal with Reds contains opt-outs |
Chris Cotillo of MLB Daily Dish reports that Chien-Ming Wang's minor league contract with the Reds contains a pair of opt-out clauses if he isn't on the Major League roster on May 31 or June 30. |
The veteran right-hander is attempting to work his way onto the Reds Opening Day roster, perhaps as a long-reliever, but the more likely scenario is that he begins the year in Triple-A and serves as additional rotation depth. He can safely be ignored for fantasy purposes. |

He spent the 2013 season in the minors with Yankees' Triple-A affiliate in Scranton/Wilkes-Barre and the Blue Jays' Triple-A affiliate in Buffalo. Wang made just six starts in the majors between June 6 and August 24 this past season. |

The sinkerballer pitched pretty well in his first three starts for the Jays, but he lasted just 1 2/3 innings in each of his last two outings, including on Tuesday against the Tigers. Despite putting up a 7.12 ERA over five starts with Toronto, Wang shouldn't have trouble catching on elsewhere. |

Thu Jun 27 2013 | 21:54 | Chien-Ming Wang gives up seven runs in loss |
Chien-Ming Wang was pounded for seven runs in 1 2/3 innings by the Red Sox on Thursday. |
Wang entered with a 2.18 ERA in three starts, but he couldn't miss any bats tonight. After getting three groundouts in the first, he walked two to start the second and gave up five straight hits afterwards. A double-play ball from Shane Victorino gave him a chance to survive the inning, but Dustin Pedroia followed that with a homer, resulting in the early exit. Wang has another tough assignment coming up against the Tigers, so he won't be worth using in AL-only leagues next week. |
