Tue Jan 18 201115:00Cubs agree to pre-arb. deal with Marshall
Cubs signed LHP Sean Marshall to a two-year, $4.7 million contract extension.
The deal will buy out Marshall's final two seasons of arbitration eligibility and will pay him $1.6 million in 2011 and $3.1 million in 2012. He is moving to the starting rotation this season and should do quite well. The lefty has always boasted a crafty arsenal of pitches and he finished the 2010 season with a 2.34 ERA and 1.09 WHIP over 61 2/3 innings.

Tue Aug 17 201008:53Cubs' Marshall would OK move to rotation
Sean Marshall told reporters Monday that he would be open to moving to the starting rotation next season.
It'll be up to the Cubs' next manager to make that decision, but a role change certainly seems like a good idea. Marshall has been excellent in relief this season, posting a 2.34 ERA, 74/20 K/BB ratio and 1.09 WHIP over 61 2/3 innings. He's started in the past and deserves another look.
