Fri Aug 13 201023:08Myers continues to throw well
Brett Myers tossed seven innings of one-run ball as part of a no-decision against the Pirates on Friday night.
Myers continues to enjoy gobs of success away from hitter-friendly Citizens Bank Park. His current 3.13 ERA is the best of his career and he's earned a sizable extension from the Astros because of it. Although wins will be hard to come by with the Astros mailing dismantled, Myers has become a reliable mixed league asset. He'll get a piece of his old rivals in the Mets next time out.
Mon Aug 2 201023:48Myers solid in no-decision Monday
Brett Myers allowed three runs (two earned) over six inning Monday but was left with a no-decision in Houston's 9-4 win.
The right-hander gave up just three hits but walked four and struck out four. He was on the hook for his seventh loss of the season, but the Astros rallied for seven runs over the final two innings. Myers, who just recently signed an extension with Houston, boasts a 3.10 ERA and 1.22 WHIP on the year. He will face the Brewers in his next outing.
Sun Aug 1 201013:59Myers extension becomes official
Astros signed RHP Brett Myers to a contract extension through 2012 with a club option for 2013.
The deal is worth $21 million and could be worth a total of $29.5 million if the option is picked up and Myers hits all of his incentives. The right-hander was a hot name at the deadline, but the Astros expressed hesitance to deal him and now have inked him to an extension. He boasts a 3.10 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and 113 strikeouts over 145 innings this season.
Sat Jul 31 201014:50Astros don't expect to trade Myers or Wandy
The Astros don't expect to trade Brett Myers or Wandy Rodriguez before the trade deadline, according to FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal.
They're running out of time, as the deadline is roughly an hour away. Rodriguez was a longshot to be moved all along, but Myers seemed much more likely. It appears, though, that the Astros' asking price for the right-hander is simply too high.

Sat Jul 31 201009:55Report: Mets reject Parnell/Thole for Myers
The Mets have rejected the Astros' proposal of Bobby Parnell and Josh Thole for Brett Myers, according to SI's Jon Heyman.
It appears as if Myers is in fact back in play, but the Astros' asking price is pretty steep. Parnell has been lights out out of the pen this year and is a future closer candidate, while Thole has hit .333 in his 93 at-bats for the Mets the last two seasons and is the team's catcher of the future. We'll see if the Astros' demands eventually come down a bit.

Sat Jul 31 201008:43Myers back on the trade block?
Brett Myers could be back on the trade block, according to FOX Sports' Jon Morosi.
The Astros reportedly had previously declared the right-hander untouchable, but a Morosi source has indicated that the team has become more open-minded to offers for Myers. If he is in fact truly available, Myers would be arguably the best pitcher left on the market. The Twins, White Sox and Mets have been linked to him.

Fri Jul 30 201011:57White Sox in on Brett Myers?
Bob Nightengale of USA Today reports that the White Sox are "quietly exploring" the possibility of acquiring Brett Myers from the Astros.
That would be a twist. If White Sox GM is truly looking for an upgrade for his rotation, Myers would be an improvement over Edwin Jackson. The 29-year-old right-hander is 8-6 with a 3.10 ERA in 21 starts this season. Recent reports have suggested that the Astros would like to keep Myers, but that could just be a smokescreen.

Tue Jul 27 201023:31Brett Myers makes case for trade
Brett Myers had a superlative game against the Cubs, racking up 12 strikeouts in a complete game, one-run win Tuesday night.
Myers out-pitched fellow rumor-mill stalwart Ted Lilly in a game that must have featured many scouts in attendance. Either pitcher will make a great addition to a contender, so teams might as well play trade hardball with the Astros and Cubs, which means the Astros might just hold on to him for his useful 2011 option ($8 million). With Myers seemingly healthy and pitching so well, he makes a great fantasy and real-life addition to any team either way.
Thu Jul 22 201014:29Report: Astros reluctant to trade Brett Myers
Two sources tell Ken Rosenthal and Jon Paul Morosi of FOXSports.com that the Astros would need to be "overwhelmed" in order to trade Brett Myers.

Wed Jul 21 201018:24Astros' Myers fans eight versus Cubs
Brett Myers allowed one run over seven innings and struck out eight Wednesday in a no-decision versus the Cubs.
With Myers and Ted Lilly facing off, there had to be plenty of scouts in attendence today. Both pitchers helped their stock in advance of the trade deadline, as Lilly got one more out than Myers before being pulled from a 1-1 gamein the eighth. Myers has a 3.24 ERA in 136 innings this season. He's gone at least six innings in all 20 of his starts.
Sat Jul 10 201021:39Brett Myers solid in win over Cardinals
Brett Myers threw eight innings of one-run ball on Saturday to lead the Astros past the Cardinals 4-1.
Myers handled the slumping Cardinals with ease, allowing only five hits and striking out five batters without issuing a walk. He has been consistently good for the Astros this season and currently boasts a 3.41 ERA and 1.31 WHIP. He's in line to face the Pirates or Cubs after the All-Star break.
Fri Jun 11 201021:39Myers continues to pitch well
Brett Myers yielded four earned runs over seven innings of work in a loss to the Yankees on Friday night.
Myers allowed just five hits to an A-Rod-less lineup, but walked three. His effectiveness this season (3.18 ERA) has been a real surprise, so tonight's very reasonable outing isn't shocking. The problem for fantasy owners is that he has just four wins thanks to the Astros' incompetent offense.
Sun Jun 6 201017:11Myers shuts down Cubs to earn fourth win
Brett Myers yielded just two runs over 6 2/3 innings as the Astros defeated the Cubs 6-3 on Sunday afternoon.
Myers struck out six while allowing only one walk in the strong outing. He's quietly having a tremendous season in Houston and has now lowered his ERA to 3.01. Run support will be a persistent problem unless he's traded, though.
Fri May 21 201023:07Myers dominates in win over Rays
Brett Myers surrendered only an unearned run over seven innings in a 2-1 win over the Rays on Friday night.
The only run scored due to an error by Hunter Pence in the very first inning. Myers was excellent, giving up six hits while walking four and matching a season-high with seven strikeouts. He improved to 3-3 with a 3.25 ERA through his first nine starts. He still allows plenty of baserunners, but fortunately for him, he hasn't been prone to the gopher ball as much this season. He's a fine option in NL-only leagues and even deeper mixed formats.
Tue May 11 201023:22Myers allows 2 ERs, improves to 2-2 in win
Brett Myers yielded just two earned runs over six innings in Tuesday's 6-3 win over the Cardinals.
Myers gave up eight hits while walking two and fanning three. He improved to 2-2 with a 3.52 ERA. Myers hasn't allowed more than four runs in any of his seven starts this season and has proven to be a solid acquisition for both the Astros and NL-only owners. He gets the Giants next time out.
Wed May 5 201023:08Myers takes no-decision despite strong start
Brett Myers yielded just two earned runs over seven innings in a no-decision against the Diamondbacks on Wednesday night.
Myers hasn't allowed more than four runs in any of his six starts this season and has proven to be a solid pickup for the Astros. Houston's miserable offense caps Myers' fantasy value as he has just one win all year, so we'd avoid Myers in mixed-league spots.
Fri Apr 30 201022:20Myers takes loss against Braves
Brett Myers allowed four runs -- three earned -- over seven innings in a loss to the Braves on Friday night.
Myers gave up six hits -- including two home runs -- while walking four and fanning five. Jason Heyward's two-run blast in the fourth inning left him on the hook. Myers has a 3.82 ERA, 1.48 WHIP and 23/8 K/BB ratio through five starts. He'll toe the rubber against the Diamondbacks next week.
Sun Apr 25 201017:48Astros' Myers defeats Pirates for first win
Brett Myers held the Pirates to two runs in six innings to pick up a win on Sunday.
Myers scattered 11 singles and a walk in the outing while striking out six. Myers has a 3.81 ERA and 18/4 K/BB in 26 innings to start the season, but in general the opposing offenses haven't been strong. We wouldn't consider him more than a spot-start option.
Tue Apr 20 201023:00Myers takes no-decision Tuesday vs. Marlins
Brett Myers yielded four runs on eight hits over seven innings Tuesday in a no-decision victory over the Marlins.
Myers struck out two but didn't walk a batter. He's been passable as an Astro -- his ERA sits at 4.05 -- but shouldn't be considered anything more than a back-end option in NL-only leagues while pitching with diminished stuff on the mediocre Astros.
Wed Apr 14 201023:33Myers takes a hard-luck loss
Brett Myers gave up just two runs -- one earned -- and four hits on Wednesday night, but still took a loss in St. Louis.
Myers undoubtedly wishes he was back in Philadelphia, where this outing would get him a victory almost every time. Although Myers was impressive tonight, we're skeptical that he'll have many more outings like this. His stuff simply isn't the same as he approaches 30.
