Fri May 23 201413:36Prince Fielder (neck) placed on disabled list
Rangers placed 1B Prince Fielder on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to May 17, with a herniated C5-C6 disc in neck.
Fielder will seek another opinion, but the anticipation is that he will soon undergo season-ending surgery. A procedure would sideline him for 3-4 month, so he's expected to be fine by the time spring training rolls around. Mitch Moreland will handle first base while Fielder is out.

Thu May 22 201417:41Fielder (neck) to have season-ending surgery
Prince Fielder (neck) will undergo cervical fusion surgery on Tuesday.
Recovery is typically three to four months, which essentially ends his season. It's brutal news for the Rangers, who can't seem to catch a break on the injury front. Fielder, 30, is still owed approximately $144 million through 2020.

Thu May 22 201414:36Fielder may need season-ending neck surgery
According to Jeff Wilson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, Prince Fielder is considering undergoing season-ending surgery to repair the herniated disc in his neck.
Fielder paid a visit to spine specialist Dr. Drew Dossett on Thursday at the Carrell Clinic in Dallas, Texas while his Rangers teammates were opening a four-game series at Detroit's Comerica Park. The big first baseman received a nerve-root injection this past weekend, but it apparently hasn't alleviated the pain being caused by his herniated disc. The Rangers continue to be battered by bad luck.

Wed May 21 201412:07Fielder (back, arm) won't travel with Rangers
Prince Fielder (back, arm) will not travel with the Rangers to Detroit after Wednesday's game.
Fielder, who is dealing with a herniated disc in his back that's led to weakness in his arm, is set to visit Dr. Drew Dossett on Thursday. Depending on what Dossett says, it's possible he'll rejoin the Rangers at some point during the four-game series. The Rangers to this point have considered Fielder day-to-day, but it's beginning to sound like a trip to the disabled list may be a possibility.

Sat May 17 201416:35Fielder (herniated disc) out at least two gms
Prince Fielder got an injection Saturday for a herniated disc in his neck and will miss at least two games.
The injury does not require surgery, and nor should it require a 15-day disabled list stint. Fielder, who has a weak .247 batting average and .720 OPS in his first season with the Rangers, told reporters Saturday that he's been dealing with neck pain since March. Mitch Moreland is playing first base and Shin-Shoo Choo is batting third on Saturday night against the Blue Jays.

Thu May 8 201423:13Fielder hits third homer as Rangers top Rocks
Prince Fielder went 1-for-3 with a walk and a solo home run in Thursday's win over the Rockies.
Fielder has been noticeably quiet with the bat through 35 games, as Thursday's blast was only his third of the season. The slugger, acquired from the Tigers for Ian Kinsler over the winter, is slashing .228/.351/.354 with 12 RBI on the season.

Sun May 4 201422:19Fielder scores three times in win over Angels
Prince Fielder went 3-for-4 with two RBI and three runs scored in Sunday's win over the Angels.
It was the offensive outburst the Rangers have been waiting for since acquiring Fielder from the Tigers this winter. Fielder produced two RBI doubles and also walked twice in the game, reaching base five times as the Rangers plated 14 runs. Perhaps this is the game that gets the big man going.

Mon Apr 7 201422:39Prince Fielder goes hitless in loss
Prince Fielder went 0-for-4 on Monday and is off to a 4-for-28 start this season.
At least he has managed one RBI after going the final 17 games of his Tigers career (six regular season, 11 postseason) without one. It looked like Fielder would get off to a much better start after his nice spring, but there's no reason to be down on him just yet.

Thu Mar 20 201418:17Fielder hits second spring home run
Prince Fielder went 1-for-2 with a walk and a solo home run against the Reds on Thursday.
Fielder took Sam LeCure deep for a solo shot in the fifth inning, his second blast of the spring. He has had an unremarkable spring, but many are expecting a bounce-back season, especially with the change in ballparks as a result of November's trade, which also involved Ian Kinsler.

Thu Feb 27 201417:31Fielder homers in Cactus League debut
Prince Fielder blasted a solo home run in the third inning of his Cactus League debut against the Royals on Thursday.
Fielder grounded out in the first inning in his other at-bat. Overall a decent showing for the Rangers' new first baseman, acquired in November's infamous trade with the Tigers which had Ian Kinsler outbound. Fielder will hit third in the Rangers' lineup and should enjoy the more hitter-friendly confines of his new home park in Texas.

Mon Nov 25 201315:34Prince Fielder will bat third for the Rangers
Rangers manager Ron Washington said Monday that Prince Fielder will bat third next season.
Fielder hit fourth for the Brewers behind Ryan Braun and fourth for the Tigers behind Miguel Cabrera, but he'll move up one spot in Texas. It may cut slightly into his RBI total, but Fielder projects to have a power resurgence in Arlington's hitter-friendly confines and the Rangers typically score a ton of runs.

Wed Nov 20 201322:52Rangers acquire 1B Prince Fielder from Tigers
Rangers acquired 1B Prince Fielder and cash considerations from the Tigers in exchange for 2B Ian Kinsler.
One-for-one trades don't get much bigger than this. In Fielder, the Rangers are acquiring a five-time All-Star and a player who has average 35 home runs a year for his career. The 29-year-old brings the kind of left-handed power the Rangers have been missing since Josh Hamilton left last offseason. With the $30 million coming to help with expenses, the Rangers will end up paying Fielder $138 million over the next seven years.

Wed Nov 20 201321:32Tigers sending $30 million with Prince to TEX
The Tigers will give the Rangers $30 million as part of the trade sending Prince Fielder to the Rangers in exchange for Ian Kinsler, according to Yahoo Sports' Jeff Passan.
Passan said the final deal will be Fielder for Kinsler straight up, with the $30 million going to the Rangers to help offset the remaining $168 million on Fielder's nine-year deal signed before the 2012 season. Kinsler himself still has four years and $57 million left on his deal. The deal likely allows the Tigers the financial room to sign Max Scherzer to a long-term deal rather than dealing him this offseason, as they'd been speculated to be considering.

Wed Nov 20 201320:25Tigers, Rangers agree to blockbuster deal
The Tigers and Rangers have agreed on a deal that would send Prince Fielder to the Rangers in exchange for Ian Kinsler, Jon Heyman of CBS Sports is reporting.
Well, that was fast. It was recently learned by Heyman that the two sides were discussing such a deal, and it now seems the deal has been agreed upon, at least in principal. The deal would be pending a physical and it could include another player as well, Heyman said. Fielder also has a limited no-trade clause, and it's unsure if the Rangers are on that list.

Wed Nov 20 201319:55Fielder-for-Kinsler deal is a 'possibility'
A Prince Fielder-for-Ian Kinsler trade is a "possibility," according to a source of CBS Sports' Jon Heyman.
Heyman said the deal is on the table, suggesting it's not just a passing rumor. It would certainly fall under the heading of blockbuster if the deal were to be consummated, especially considering the money still owed to both players in coming years. The Rangers pursued Fielder when he was a free agent two years ago, and a deal would free up a spot for Jurickson Profar in Texas. Fielder does have a limited no-trade clause that could come into play, but that's pretty far down the road of things that would need to happen at this point.

Sat Oct 19 201316:05Tigers re-using winning lineup from Game 4
The Tigers will use the same lineup they used in Wednesday's victory over the Red Sox in Game 4 of the ALCS again for Saturday's must-win contest.
With Alex Avila back in the lineup after being knocked out of Thursday's game, the only switch in the batting order is flipping Avila and Infante. The Tigers will roll with Austin Jackson CF, Miguel Cabrera 3B, Prince Fielder 1B, Victor Martinez DH, Jhonny Peralta LF, Alex Avila C, Omar Infante 2B, Austin Jackson CF and Jose Iglesias SS against Clay Buchholz as they attempt to stave off elimination and force a Game 7 on Sunday.

Sat Oct 19 201308:37Tigers not planning to drop Fielder in lineup
Tigers manager Jim Leyland clarified Friday that he is not planning on dropping struggling slugger Prince Fielder down in his lineup for Game 6 of the ALCS against the Red Sox on Saturday.
Fielder, a notoriously poor performer in the postseason, is hitting .211/.286/.263 in 19 at-bats in the ALCS and hasn't driven in a run over his last 17 postseason contests. Tigers' fans frustration came out in Thursday's loss to the Red Sox in Game 5, as Fielder was booed for his lack of production.
