Wed Nov 13 201316:14Giants looking into health of FA Corey Hart
Henry Schulman of the San Francisco Chronicle reports that the Giants are "looking into" the health of free agent Corey Hart.
It's likely that a dozen other teams are doing the same. Hart missed the 2013 season due to surgery on both of his knees, but he's drawing heavy interest this winter because of his past offensive success. The Giants were lacking in power production this year.

Wed Nov 13 201308:55Brewers considering bringing back Corey Hart
CBS Sports' Jon Heyman reports that the Brewers are considering bringing back Corey Hart.
Hart didn't play at all in 2013 due to surgery on both of his knees, but it appears that the Brewers may favor his return at first base over signing Justin Morneau or trading for Ike Davis. The 31-year-old will likely sign a one-year deal in hopes of reestablishing his value and testing the market again next winter. The Mets are among the other teams who have reportedly shown interest.

Wed Nov 6 201316:36Mets showing interest in free agent C. Hart
Mike Puma of the New York post reports that free agent Corey Hart is drawing interest from the Mets.
Puma says "about a dozen teams" have already made contact with the free agent first baseman, who missed the entire 2013 season due to dual knee surgeries. Hart, 31, should be able to score a multi-year contract this winter because of his past levels of production.

Mon Nov 4 201313:53Corey Hart will not be given qualifying offer
Corey Hart will not be tendered a qualifying offer.
It would have been for one year at $14.1 million. The Brewers want Hart back and probably feel confident that they can make that happen on a bargain-bin deal considering that the 31-year-old missed the entire 2013 season while recovering from surgery on both of his knees. Hart will officially become a free agent on Tuesday.

Sat Sep 28 201309:30Corey Hart (knee) cleared to run on treadmill
Corey Hart (knee) has received clearance to begin running on a treadmill.
Hart missed the entire 2013 season after undergoing surgery on each of his knees. He will continue to rehab this offseason in an effort to make it back before the start of the 2014 season. He's spent all nine seasons of his Major League career with the Brewers, but is an impending free agent this offseason. Hart has indicated his desire to remain in Milwaukee, and even to take a discount to remain there, but it's unclear if the Brewers are as receptive to the idea.

Thu Sep 19 201313:49Hart open to team-friendly deal with Brewers
Corey Hart told reporters Thursday that he would accept a team-friendly contract from the Brewers.
Hart, an impending free agent, is still in recovery mode from double knee surgery and will not appear in a game this season. "I've told them I would be very generous to stay here," Hart said. "I wouldn't sit there and ask for anything that is outlandish. I would take a discount to stay here because I think I owe it to them to stay here and be a cheaper player, because - nobody wants to play for free - but I've basically sat there and watched all season."

Fri Jun 28 201317:11Hart needs left knee surgery, done for year
Brewers manager Ron Roenicke said Friday that Corey Hart needs surgery on his left knee and is done for the season.
Terrible news. Hart has had numerous setbacks with his right knee following surgery in January, but now it's the left one giving him issues. The full extent of the damage in his left knee isn't yet known, but it's not the ideal way to head into free agency this winter.

Thu Jun 13 201310:52Corey Hart (knee) may be out until late July
Brewers GM Doug Melvin said Thursday that Corey Hart (knee) might not be back until after the All-Star break.
Hart doesn't have much confidence yet in the strength of his surgically-repaired right knee and has yet to run the bases at full speed. He has been sorely missed this season, as Brewers first basemen have combined for a .183/.222/.280 batting line and just four home runs.

Sat Jun 8 201320:54Corey Hart improving, not close to returning
Corey Hart (knee) continues to improve but still isn't ready for a minor league rehab assignment.
The biggest hurdle for Hart has been trusting his surgically-repaired right knee when trying to run the bases. He is still expected to return to the Brewers' active roster at some point before the end of June.

Thu May 30 201320:07Hart could begin rehab assignment next week
Brewers manager Ron Roenicke said they are "tentatively thinking" Corey Hart (knee) will begin a rehab assignment next week.
Hart still has some hesitancy with his running and has yet to try to run the bases, which will be the biggest hurdle before he's cleared to play in games. He has referred to his January operation as "partial microfracture surgery," which would explain why the recovery has taken so long. Roenicke noted, though, that Hart "gets more comfortable and confident with the knee" each day.

Tue May 28 201321:57Corey Hart not ready for rehab assignment yet
Corey Hart (knee) said the Brewers' medical staff is "waiting for the running stuff to get better" before he's cleared to begin a rehab assignment.
Hart is traveling with the Brewers on their road trip for the first time this season, which is obviously a good sign. He was hoping last Monday to begin a rehab assignment in a week, but he'll need a little more time. "I'm pretty close; I just couldn't give you a day," Hart said. "Every day, [medical staffers] are closer to setting a day. I think they're waiting for the running stuff to get better." Hart said his surgically-repaired knee feels good, but his muscle memory isn't there yet. "When I started on the field five days ago, it was terrible," Hart said. "Today was better than yesterday. Every day is progress."

Mon May 20 201321:52Corey Hart runs, takes batting practice Mon.
Corey Hart (knee) ran on the field and took full batting practice on Monday.
It's the first time he's done so since undergoing knee surgery. Hart admitted that the running was "awkward," but he could be ready for a rehab assignment in about a week. The assignment is expected to take a while, so it will likely be well into June before Hart is activated.

Wed May 15 201319:27Hart (knee) now expected to be out until June
Corey Hart (knee) is unlikely to return from the disabled list on May 30 when first eligible.
Hart has begun running recently without assistance, but he's just not going to be far enough along in a couple weeks to be activated from the 60-day DL. The first baseman is more likely to return within the first couple weeks of June.

Mon Apr 29 201322:33Corey Hart hopes to return when eligible
Corey Hart (knee) said he's "progressed a lot lately" and hopes to return from the disabled list when first eligible on May 30.
"Over the last week and a half, I've done a lot," Hart added. "Everything's going well." So far, the outfielder has done exercises to strengthen his quad muscles, as well as water aerobics and throwing as part of his rehab. It's not clear when he might be ready for a rehab assignment.

Fri Apr 19 201309:10Corey Hart has 'good checkup'
Corey Hart (knee) said he had a "good checkup" with team physician William Raasch on Thursday.
"I had a good checkup," said Hart. "(Raasch) said it was doing good. It's hard to tell until my strength comes back. I'm still doing the same thing, trying to get my quad back. Once that fires, everything else is going to come. I just need to get it stronger. It's hard to rush because my leg won't let me." Because he was placed on the 60-day DL, Hart can't be activated before May 30. He remains on pace to return around that time.

Tue Apr 9 201309:35Brewers move Hart to 60-day disabled list
Brewers transferred 1B/OF Corey Hart from the 15-day disabled list to the 60-day disabled list.
The Brewers made the move in order to clear a spot for Blake Lalli on the 40-man roster. While Hart has always suggested that he could make it back from knee surgery ahead of schedule, he's now ineligible to be activated before May 30. Fantasy owners will have to be patient.
