Fri Apr 30 2010 | 01:24 | Pirates' Burres earns first win since 2008 |
Brian Burres shut out the Dodgers for 5 1/3 innings on Thursday to earn his first major league victory since 2008. |
We're guessing he cracked a smile when he saw Garret Anderson hitting second for L.A. tonight. Burres entered with a 9.31 ERA in one start and two relief appearances this season. He allowed four hits and walked four tonight, so he was far from dominant. The Dodgers aren't hitting anyone right now, though. |
Wed Apr 28 2010 | 11:13 | Burres to start for Bucs on Thursday |
Brian Burres will start against the Dodgers on Thursday. |
He gets the nod over right-hander Brian Bass. Burres has a 9.31 ERA and a 6/7 K/BB ratio over 9 2/3 innings this season, so don't expect much. |

There's a good chance he'll head right back to the minors on Tuesday. Burres was called up to pitch because of Ross Ohlendorf's injury. |
