Greg Reynolds earned his first major league victory since June 17, 2008 by allowing two runs over five innings Thursday in the first game of a doubleheader against the Mets. |
Reynolds was 2-8 as a rookie in 2008 before getting hurt and missing much of 2009 and 2010. So far in 2011, he's given the Rockies a pair of quality starts, though he's struck out just three batters in the process. He's still likely to head back to Triple-A to make room for Ubaldo Jimenez in the rotation. |

Tue Feb 15 2011 | 01:01 | Greg Reynolds healthy and ready for season |
After battling through various injuries since 2007, former top prospect Greg Reynolds is healthy again. |
"It's all systems go now," Reynolds said. "I finally feel like my body can handle the wear and tear of a full season." Drafted second overall in the 2006 draft ahead of perennial All-Stars such as Tim Lincecum and Evan Longoria, Reynolds is trying to claw his way back to the majors, where he compiled an inauspicious 2-8 record and 8.13 ERA in 2008. Last year in the minors he topped the 100-inning mark for only the second time in five professional seasons, finishing with a pedestrian 4.74 ERA and 1.34 WHIP. He will need to stay healthy and improve on those numbers to have any realistic chance of seeing the majors again. |
