FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal reports that the Blue Jays, Orioles, Twins, Indians, Cubs, Cardinals, Red Sox, Brewers and Mets have scouts in attendance for Chris Young's start Monday.
Young will not make the Nats' Opening Day roster and will decide after Monday's outing whether or not to opt out of his minor league deal. He'll almost surely exercise the opt-out, as there's obviously plenty of interest in him. The veteran righty holds a 3.00 ERA over three starts this spring.

While the Nationals would certainly love to keep him, if he can find another opportunity elsewhere he'll obviously take it. Nationals GM Mike Rizzo indicated as much on Friday, when stating that Young would not begin the season in the minor leagues. He's posted a 3.00 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and 7/6 K/BB ratio in 12 innings this spring, and is worth a flier as a late round option in deeper mixed leagues if he can secure a rotation spot elsewhere.

"It's his choice if he wants to go to Triple-A," Rizzo said. It sounds like he'll be able to exercise the clause if he doesn't make the Opening Day roster, but Young had to realize when he signed the deal that that was a longshot. Barring an injury to another Nats rotation member, the tall righty figures to begin 2013 at Triple-A.

The Mets aren't going to replace R.A. Dickey in their starting rotation, but could look to re-sign Young on a one-year deal as veteran insurance. He posted a 4.15 ERA in 155 innings (20 starts) since returning from rotator cuff surgery this past season, and hasn't received any other known interest in free agency.

He's been very inconsistent on the season, posting a 4-7 record, 4.48 ERA and 60/29 K/BB ratio over 90 1/3 innings. He'll look to carry over the momentum from this fine outing when he battles the Braves at home on Saturday.

Chris Young got lit up by the Marlins in Wednesday's loss, allowing seven runs on seven hits, three walks and three home runs in just 4 1/3 innings.
More specifically, Young got lit up by Giancarlo Stanton, who took him deep for a pair of two-run homers. Young also served up a leadoff blast to Jose Reyes. Tonight was the second time in six starts Young allowed at least six runs, but also just his third non-quality start in 10 outings since June 17. He'll bring a 4.87 ERA, 1.35 WHIP and 42/20 K/BB ratio into his Tuesday start in Cincinnati. You may want to keep him benched for that one.

He's not striking anyone out, but Young isn't a bad streaming option in favorable matchups. He gets the Nats again next week.

The Mets are still mulling their options to replace Dillon Gee (shoulder), and an off day Monday means they won't have to make a decision until July 21.
